Anyone who's interested in using a complementary therapist to coax their babies out, the thread I've started is here. Will hopefully get a reply or two!

Friend was totally wrong on full moon - it's not until 17 Sept - can't wait that long!!!!!

franch · 30/08/2005 12:53

Agh! I remember visiting one labour ward during a full moon (when we were checking out hosps last time round) and it was hooching with labouring women. The midwife was very matter-of-fact about the moon being the cause. But no help to me either - I'll be nearly 2 weeks over by then!

You could of left this thread open as 13 and then opened a new one on sept 1st

I would like to coax baby out now let alone waiting a week till i go overdue!!!

franch · 30/08/2005 13:03

That would've been too clever for me mummyhill. Have I ruined everything now?

Midwife just been. If nothing happens by next Tuesday, she will do a sweep at home. Had one last time and boy did it work, although I think that having had on-off twinges for three days, dd was definitely ready to come anyway.
Builders still here and hae problem with saniflow drainage so....looks like work won't be finished for a while yet Gutting as had hoped this morning that would be able to shift the washing machine and tumble dryer down stairs regaining kitchen as well as having a second loo. Ho hum - not much I can do about it really.

Redhelen · 30/08/2005 13:15

LadyLazarus- I'm really sorry to hear about your nan .

I can't hold on till the full moon!! Although I did also read an article that you increase your chances of conceiving around a full moon too (be warned!)Theres alot we don't know!!

Going for a blood test after seeing mw - I have a swollen thyroid and doctor not sure if it is preganacy or if its malfunctioning!??

mummyhill · 30/08/2005 13:22

LOL - Franch it was just something that occured to me after reading your first post on this thread.

I deffinatley have no desire to wait till the fullmoon either as will be 11-13 days over by then (depends on wether baby goes by my dates or the hospitals).

Redhelen - Let us know how you get on with blood test results re thyroid, with any luck it will be just pregnancy but if you need any help/information cat me and i will try and help as best I can. I have had thyroid problems for 12 years and have got to know a bit about it all!!!

diane77 · 30/08/2005 13:25

my dh is plying me with curry and pineapple in order to get things moving I just realised that this was his plan this afternoon!!!

mummyhill · 30/08/2005 13:36

Mine doesn't need to ply me with curry I already have plans in that direction. May try to convince him that s*x might be a good idea, could be fun if nothing else.

andif · 30/08/2005 14:18

Tried curry on Sunday night with no effect. Maybe I'm expecting too much with 2 weeks to go, but definitely feels like it should be before that! Might try sex tonight if I can face it!!!!!

Redhelen · 30/08/2005 14:27

Oh good luck with the curry , pinapple and sex!

Will be trying sex from tomorrow - but feel so unsexy!

Mummyhill- should have thyroid results on Friday - I was tested about 18 months 2 years ago and was fine - not sure how quickly a thyroid can start playing up!

Good news though my iron levels are up to 12.4!

LadyLazarus · 30/08/2005 14:31

sex?! that's the last thing I feel like doing!! Curry on the other hand, now that's a different matter...

mummyhill · 30/08/2005 14:40

LOL

Quote from Bubbles - the thought of sex is putting both myself and dp off. saying that, it doesn't help that my mum has told me to get dp and let him do me from behind(sorry if tmi, they were her exact words lol). god, my mum is sick, and i'm disturbed for life now hahaha.

Apparently this is the best way for those of us desperate to try it!!!!

LadyLazarus · 30/08/2005 14:41

@ your mother!! haha

mummyhill · 30/08/2005 14:45

That should of read desperate enough to try it. Think i would be giggling too much though!!!!

LadyLazarus · 30/08/2005 14:46

sorry, just realised it's bubbles' naughty mother! Do you think there's any evidence to support bouncing on a birth ball while listening to very loud '70s rock music as a method of bringing on labour? Only thing I seem to be able to do these days

mummyhill · 30/08/2005 14:49

Sounds like a good Idea to me which bands have you got in mind?

mummyhill · 30/08/2005 14:50

We have kerrang radio here in brum and it is great on Sunday morning as they play legends all morning, dh and I are in seventh heaven!!

LadyLazarus · 30/08/2005 14:51

well, if I'm feeling stressed or sad (which I am a bit at the moment) loud music always seems to take my mind off it... the playlist of the moment is LedZep, ACDC, Kiss and Deep Purple... hopefully baby won't be too traumatised by it

mummyhill · 30/08/2005 14:54

Ohh a girl after my own heart. DD loved red hot chillies and still does to this day. I find that if bean has been a bit quiet put kerrang telly/radio on or if they are playing something I don't like I raid the CD rack and that gets little one moving. Mainly 70's & 80's rock in our collection here.

andif · 30/08/2005 14:56

Talking of Bubbles, she's quiet today so maybe she took her Mum's advice and it worked......!

LadyLazarus · 30/08/2005 14:57

hehe yes my bump seems to get a bit more active with the music, not sure if she's just trying to put her hands over her ears tho .

mummyhill · 30/08/2005 14:59

I like to think that the movement is showing appreciation to our taste in music, especially as dd wasn't traumatised and seems to enjoy singing along to 80's power ballards with me.

Andif - LOL hope bubbles is ok.

Redhelen · 30/08/2005 17:28

Yes - loud rock - fantastic for stress - was thinking about making up a cd for labour - thought I'd start with born to be wild!

Determined to be very mobile and loud for this labour - total opposite to last time!!

Funny thing about music whilst in the tum - when I was pregnanat with ds - Ricky Martin - Living La Vida loca was all the range (summer 99- yes sorry but I liked it!) I played it alot and then after ds was born I never played it again! When the film Shrek 2 came out last summer ds got the dvd (this song features) and he plays this song over and over again and says he loves it!!! - what have I done!!
