bubbles - sorry, but Friday is only 2 days away!

Do you think there could be several babies arrive on Saturday - it could happen!!

I've started walking down stairs like a toddler! Once I'm going I can't stop and My legs are stiff and barely bend!

I've had a headache all day - but I am a human barometer and theres a storm a coming!

mummyhill · 31/08/2005 17:48

Glad I am not the only human barometer out there I have even resorted to paracetamol which is unusual as it brings me out in cold sweats and makes me vomit, better that at the momment than not being able to see, hear and talk properly though, especially with a very active three year old in tow. Headache has started to lift now we are getting thunder and ohh lightening too yipee.

Good luck with the sex, curries, clary sage, rasberry leaf and pinapples!!! and labour ball bouncing!!! will be trying 4 of these myself

The race is on for the first September baby!!!!!

singleteenagemum · 31/08/2005 18:50

Am not able to join in with the fun

Hate curry, noone to have sex with , clary sage - not my thing. But i can do the birthing ball

Redhelen · 31/08/2005 19:29

franch - what is labourade?

zoezebra · 31/08/2005 19:32

Well I have had a bit of a mad day. Went to see GP as not seen a midwife since 37 weeks. GP concerned with size of bump and the fact that they did not do a liquor test when I was admitted to hospital with SROM a week ago Monday. She is also concerned as she cannot feel the head!!! (do I have a headless baby)?? She thinks its either so far engaged (which explains the burrowing sensation that others are describing and I am feeling) or its breech!!!! So I have been referred to the hospital for a scan and was expecting a call all day to ask me to go in. No phone call happened so I called them at 2pm, only to be told that they stop scanning at 4.15 and I would get a call today to confirm my appt time. 4pm came round, no call so I called again, finally have appt for 2pm tomorrow. If they find any cause for concern they will induce tomorrow, if not then I have a sweep booked for next Thursday (my due date). Am now very apprehensive as I was not expecting to be "started off" quite so soon and it was not in my plans to be manually induced as wanted to go natural like last time.
I am still holding out for the full moon on saturday night. Can't bear the thought of sex (is it just me, everyone else seems to be up for it), too hot for curry and gives me chronic heartburn and have been bouncing on birthing ball for last two weeks with no effect.
Think if I sneeze this baby may fall out anyway, especially if it is as far engaged as they say .

franch · 31/08/2005 19:46

Sorry to hear about all the worries zoezebra. Hope you have a really big sneeze before all the intervention kicks in ... I feel exactly the same and my baby is apparently well engaged so hopefully that's the case for you too. Good luck.

Redhelen: labourade's a drink to keep your energy levels up and aid contractions during labour - I've used the recipe here and it tastes quite good! Putting my 2 bottles in the freezer once they've cooled.

zoezebra - best of luck - think the sex thing is just desperate measures to get baby(s) moving.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

milward · 31/08/2005 20:37

Hello All

Had my check-up today - due the 24/25th but head engaged and 2cm dilated. Had been feeling like the baby had moved down & was feeling achy & heavy - now I know why!! Full moon on the 17/09 would suit me fine!!!

Sorted out the uterine contraction monitoring as well (2nd labour after a cs) - was stressed about this. The uterine monitoring is often done at the same time as the fetal scalp electrode. Will have normal monitoring when I arrive & then only the internal monitoring if labour slows down & waters have ruptured. My doc was fine on this plus said that I could still be mobile, upright, not on the bed & use the birth stool as I had wanted. Relieved.

Got all my thyroid results - one was ok now but others still alittle low. Will see the thyroid doctor after the birth to follow this up. Plus arranged for a peadiatrician to come & check our baby when born because of the abnormality risk in the blood tests I had. Scary but we want to know asap after the birth what the situation is.

The weather is too hot!! - just melted at the school open day. Meet the other parents looking red in the face, huge & sweating. A great vision I'm sure. So much for all the maternity cardi's I have!! Kids back at school tomorrow - have lots of tasks to do but will have an hour to put my feet up & rest - pure luxury

Best wishes to all xxx

zoezebra · 31/08/2005 21:57

Thanks for all your concerns and wishes. Franch, glad you cleared up the labourade thing, was thinking I was the only ignorant one and was too worried to ask in case was the only PG
Too hot to do anything, am waiting for LOST to start, if I can keep my eyes open long enough. Why has the rain not started in south london, was expecting a huge storm to clear the air. It feels like its getting hotter.
Will attempt a cold shower to shock the baby out and cool me down before a tentative lie down to wait for the midnight loo breaks to start. Perhaps I will be lucky and have a "good night" tonight, they do tend to run like this, a couple of really bad ones, like last night and night before and then I seem to sleep reasonably well.
Nothing like a cool breeze and the sound of rain to send me off, so heres hoping that we get the thunder and rain.
DH has gone out for a couple of beers with a mate, have warned against fact that coming home drunk would not be wise in case i do decide to go into spontaneous labour, not sure he was listening, think he's just pleased to escape my hormonal moods for a couple of hours.
Hope you all make it through the night without overheating too much and will post again when I have more news.

Redhelen · 31/08/2005 23:01

It's September!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (well almost!)

Good luck - weather please cool down and healthy happy babies please appear from really easy pain free labours!

KiwiKate · 01/09/2005 00:58

For those interested in foetal positioning check out Spinning Babies

This is a very interesting website dealing with all types of positioning. I find the "belly mapping" page particularly interesting - on how to tell how your baby is lying.

LadyLazarus · 01/09/2005 05:30

Well it's finally happened with my nanna, and I guess it's a bit of a relief. Think it was all rather unpleasant right at the end tho Thanks to everyone's kind words... easy to feel guilty about not being able to go there in person.

I'm off to try to do a Sudoku to make me feel sleepy...

KiwiKate · 01/09/2005 07:48

Hugs & Prayers with you LL

ych · 01/09/2005 08:10

Sorry to hear your news LadyL, thinking of you. x

mummyhill · 01/09/2005 08:15

(((HUGS))) LadyL i know it is difficult not being able to be there at such a sad time my thoughts are with you.

pooka · 01/09/2005 09:18

So sorry LadyL.

beatie · 01/09/2005 09:22

LadyL - I'm sorry to hear of your loss

Well - most of us have made it to September. Who will have the first September baby?!?

Not much happening here. I'm not even aware of Braxton Hicks anymore. Is it possible to be having them and to not notice?

I was so convinced my baby would be born in August. I have no idea why. Now that s/he hasn't come so early, it all seems a bit surreal that this is going to happen at all. I need to get mentally prepared for it again!

DH and I revisited names last night. We'd decided to wait until after the baby is born to decide so I wrote down all our choices at the back of the baby name book. DH looked at it, looked throuhg the book, and more or less made a decision on aboys and girls name. And they're both my choices! I'm really excited now.

to whoever described the pubis pain as being like a pubic hair caught in a zipper. Each time I get up in the night to go to the toilet I am aware of that pain and that description is spot on.

Sorry for triplicate post. Ahhhh!

Boompi · 01/09/2005 09:25

I am so sorry LadyL - take care ((hug))

My plan last night didnt work, just got heartburn from the curry! Thankful that its cooler today.

mummyhill · 01/09/2005 09:35

My plan didn't work either. Didn't sleep to well either as it was sooo hot here.

Am feeling a bit down this morning can't seem to get motivated to do anything.

andif · 01/09/2005 10:26

So sorry to hear your news LL. Think of the happier times ahead.
So much for a storm clearing the air last night. Had worst night ever - a car alarm kept going off in our street just to add to the heat. Today started off cooler, but is definitely heating up now. Off to midwife soon.

milward · 01/09/2005 10:30

Sorry to hear your news ladyL.
