no thanks mumandstudent, I am not sure I have an hour a week to spare and I doubt I am close enough.

Ordered my tens machine today, I have been putting it off along with packing a hospital bag because it means I am actually having a baby. I think I will pack the bag at the weekend dh goes offshore for his penultimate trip before the new arrival and I am starting to feel nervous that something will happen while he is away, he has been on a course the last couple of days and has called me every lunch time to check in which is VERY unusual for him, not sure what it is about number 4 that is making him more sensitive but it was really not expected.

comtessa · 13/09/2010 15:50

mumandstudent - possibly but where are you based?

4madboys · 13/09/2010 16:10

afternoon all.

sorry to hear lots of us feeling uncomfortable and nervous, its to be expected, but the miraculous thing is you tend to forget it all afterwards, otherwise i wouldnt be doing it for a 5th time Grin

sounds like lots of ladies need to rest, we dont need any early babies, they can all wait a few more weeks at least :)

mumandstudent, again it depends where you are based? i may be interested.

all fine here, had a busy day on saturday with lots of relatives but then a really quiet day on the sunday as my parents had the elder three boys, so we just had ds4 and he slept in till 10am Shock and then had a three hour nap in the afternoon!!

back to the school run etc today and i am starting to feel the weight of the baby a bit more now, and noticing bump getting in my way when ihave to bend and pick stuff up from the floor etc.

and now i need to go and start on dinner whilst ds4 is asleep.........

hmmSleep · 13/09/2010 16:27

Loooopy, I'd have thought the NHS classes would go over pretty much the same as the NCT, not that I've done the NCT, so don't quote me on that! I think the only thing you might benefit from the NHS one is they sometimes give you more information on the hospital you plan to give birth in, if you're going down that route.

I'm not doing any classes this time, which is a bit of a worry as I can't actually remember simple things like when I'm supposed to go into hospital Hmm, I'll probably be bothering you lot on here when I go into labour asking if you think I need to head to hospital or not!

llandb Good luck with the move, don't go lifting any heavy boxes.

My back has pretty much recovered, Dh was great and I had a really relaxing weekend which allowed me to rest, so think it must just have been a pulled muscle.

Dcs started school and pre-chool on Thursday, so I am officially on 'maternity leave' for 2 hours each morning until baby arrives now Grin, that 2 hours certainly flys by though. I had plans to sort baby's room, buy all the baby stuff etc, so far I have managed to . . . . dye my hair.

Yikes 3littleducks sounds scary, but glad all ok. Keep your legs crossed for another few weeks.

I am having a down day. Feeling really really grumpy. Have had enough. Feeing huge, tired, breathless, can't walk too far, can't get comfy, feel hot all the time. Grrrrrr. I don't want to wish these next 8/9 weeks away as I should enjoy the relative (ha!) calm of a 2 kid household, but shheeeesh, its hard work with this bump.

On the up side, last day at work on Weds, so looking forward to a few hours peace on Tues Weds and Thurs when DS2 is at nursery and whilst DS1 at school.

Lovely to meet comtessa on Saturday and ivy from the October thread. We must do it again and get the other Nottingham lasses along too.

bunnygirl80 · 13/09/2010 22:38

threelittleducks that sounds scary. Glad LO decidedd to stay put for now

4madboys I'm noticing my bump starting to get in the way too. Have noticed when I'm cooking the dinner it gets really hot cos it's much closer to the hob the my tummy used to be....hope I don't accidentally set it on fire Grin

I finally got around to pumping up my gym ball yesterday, spent most of the day bouncing around on it. It's really helped the back pain I've been having...although lots of that pain was brought on by insisting on building the chest of drawers/change table all by myself rather than just letting DH do it Hmm

islandbaby · 14/09/2010 06:11

Hey all, I'd love to join in with all you other November mums.

This is my first one, and at the moment it's all a little unreal as I am stuck in Chile and can't fly home until 6 weeks before the due date. I'm getting nervous now... 16 hours on a plane at 34 weeks pregnant... I hope they look after me!

Unfortunately my partner was involved in a motorbike accident two months ago - just two weeks before i was going to head home and get some much needed work done - and had to have his leg amputated, so I've stayed to help him through all the trauma. The baby has had to take a bit of a backseat! But we're expecting to both be in england for the birth, when the fun begins!

It's very strange to be in a foreign country for this experience, where I'm not great with the language and desperately missing home, but knowing that I'll be back in england in a month or so is keeping me going.

Hope everyone is feeling well, I'm looking forward to hearing how your experiences progress.

sancerrre · 14/09/2010 14:20

Scary stuff threelittleducks hope it doesn't happen again for a while. Saying that, I've been lurking on the Sept thread reading their birth stories and some of theirs popped out in July so guess some of ours could make an appearance this month! Yikes! Shock Fingers (and legs) crossed they can wait till October at least.

bunnygirl I've burnt my bump on the oven several times, no sense of my own size these days.

Welcome islandbaby sounds like a terrible couple of months to go through while pg, or at any time. Whereabouts are you in Chile? I had a great skiing / driving around holiday there a couple of years ago.

hmmSleep · 14/09/2010 16:03

Hi islandbaby, what a traumatic, stressful time you must have had Sad. Hope you get back to the UK soon, I love chile but can understand why you'd want to be home in familiar surroundings at the moment.

sancerrre, very brave of you to venture on to the september thread, I'm steering clear of any birth stories for now!

Hi everyone, threelittleducks sounds very scary, hope LO hangs on in there for a bit longer.

Here is my latest bump picture 31 weeks don't know if I am going to get any bigger or not, seem to be staying the same size atm... Quite happy with my round bump although I am feeling really massive and am also struggling to bend down atm, like 4madboys and bunnygirl80.

Am still cleaning the house, have moved onto skirting boards and door frames now. Have been giving everything a wipe down. It's doing DP head-in, he keeps telling me to take it easy Smile.

Have another midwife appointment next Tuesday, which will be my 31+ appointment. This last part of the pregnancy seems to be flying by, can't believe there are only another 9/10 weeks left!!! Madness!!

Hope everyone is well, x x x.

Mibby · 14/09/2010 18:41

Hi all

Had some sort of upset stomach bug the last few days so not been feeling great but hopefully its on the way out now

Did my first hospital class last thursday, seemed ok, the next three are all on Sat's so DH can come.

Saw the midwife too, got a different one too usual and she was a miserable c**, said my BP had gone up (app was 25 min late, with a waiting room with no chairs, could that possibly be the reason?)and bump wasn't growing enough. All other measurements have been fine and shes definitely grown since last time so I'm not too worried but will consult my normal midwife at next appointment (35 weeks!! eeek!)

Nursery decorating is coming on well and am feeling fairly organised otherwise, just need to sort out and pack bag (soonish I guess)

Hope everyone else is ok

Hugs

Mibby xx

balijay · 14/09/2010 18:50

Hi everyone, hope everyone is well - just checking in with one of my infrequent postings! Blush

Looopy I'm not bothering with any classes this time - think you may just end up duplicating info..

Welcome to islandbaby - what a scary time for you both - bet you can't wait to get back home!

Have horrible lower back ache on my left side, I just hope I can last out another 5/6 weeks of work!

CardiCorgi · 14/09/2010 20:12

Hello,
Threelittleducks that sounds frightening. I'm glad that everything seems ok.

Welcome islandbaby

Had bump inspection from the inlaws this last weekend. MIL keeps trying to trick us into telling her if it's a boy or girl. She'll just have to be patient like everyone else.

First ante-natal class tonight. They didn't make us watch any videos (thank goodness, not sure I could cope with that much reality). There is definitely an anti-painkiller slant, but it was all more or less what I'd been expecting. Actually, I'm not really sure that I learnt that much but I'm sure I will in the next ones.

islandbaby · 14/09/2010 23:29

Thanks for the welcomes. I'm far from home and have no pregnant friends to talk with so it's really good to have this forum.

I'm in Santiago de Chile, at the moment. My boyfriend is from easter island, and we were living there until the accident. As I'm sure you can imagine, the medical facilities on an island as isolated as that (5 hours flying time to the mainland) aren't exactly inspiring. There are only two midwives who do all the deliveries. If you're lucky enough to have your baby when there's a visiting surgeon or anaesthetist then you might be able to have a CS or epidural if you really need it. If there are any problems, then you have to hope that one of Chile's hospital jets is available to fly the 5 hours from chile to the island to pick you up then take you to the mainland.

I was scared witless about having my baby there, but now that we have made the decision to go back to England I feel so much more relaxed.

blondecat · 15/09/2010 11:45

Welcome to island baby - you must be very brave to cope with all this. Hope you make it home and glad to her it will no longer be an island baby (not literally anyway)

threelittleducks Good luck! Hopefully all is nice and settled by now. I suspect that this thread will see its fair share of dramas - I ventured onto the august one - brrrrrr - but fingers crossed all Will be well

I second all those feeling a tad anxious. I am worried about:
The pain - obvious really
Baby being in breach - but she has 6 more weeks to turn around so I shouldn't really
What happens after birth - consultant cheerfully agreed I should be having sleepless nights about the sleepless nights. I am trying not to. Sounds counterproductive.
Our budding family - I stupidly didn't hear / want to understand when dh was explaining about his new job. He spelt it out last Sunday and we will have to leave the uk. Whats worse even with the move he will have to travel 2-3 days a week - now it's just 1-2 a fortnight. Sad.
Even worse this will start either next week Shock or early January and since we wont move till July he will actually travel 3-4 days a week overnight in the interim. So he won't be there for me and the baby. And I don't know if I can cope with that. Maybe I am being unreasonable - I think of all those who have to bring up baby alone - but I have come to rely on him and was so much looking forward to our little family.

I know it's good for his career. I know I should be hpy for him and I am but will the baby even know him? And what will this do to our marriage? I just don't know.
And I am not even allowed to talk to friends until it's officially announced next week. Biscuit btw is this the correct use of Biscuit?

Ebb · 15/09/2010 11:47

Islandbaby I don't blame your decision to come back to England for the birth. I think it'd be very stressful thinking of all the 'what if's' even if you had an easy, straight forward delivery.

I had my blood test results back today and my platelet levels are 113. Hooray! Still lower than normal but at least above 100. I have to have them redone in 2wks. The GP seemed to think baby was head down and quite low which would explain the frequency of my night time loo visits! So feeling a bit more positive today.

I did an antenatal refresher class last week, mainly to meet other mums to be but most of them are due in the next few weeks. Listening to other peoples birth stories made me realise how lucky I was with my first birth. Hopefully no.2 will be as straight forward.

blondecat · 15/09/2010 11:53

Since I can't scroll the xt box on the net book thing just to add one more bit

We finally have the layette. Smile or at least the strat of it. And I learnt a new word - wheee. So now its rime to wash all the baby clothes - I understand it has to be a non biological powder. Does it have to be fairy or will any one do? This is probably a stupid question but hey I'm new to all this.

Btw thank you to all the mumsnetters who answered my previous questions on the different baby wardrobe bits - I'd have been lost without you!

On a cheerful note we were given more baby clothes by PIL. - things they saved from their 5 grandsons over the last 25 years. My baby girl will be dressed in blue but hey I like it. DH was bringing it over from Paris and ended up getting interviewed with the layette concealed in his somber business bag. He said he couldn't help smiling every time he thought about it.

Vix7 · 15/09/2010 12:23

hi all,

islandbaby, glad you'll be back on UK soil soon enough.

hope everyone had a better weekend than i did. spent most of it curled up in bed trying desperately to shake off this cold/flu bug i caught. didn't work. spent mon and tue in bed either. finally dragged self out and into work today.

still can't breathe and looking longingly at the decongestant spray.....

comtessa · 15/09/2010 13:28

Welcome to islandbaby, sorry to hear about your ordeal, hope you're able to get some rest and sunshine - despite everything.

Vix7 hope you feel better soon.

smokeybacon it was lovely to meet you and ivy too - can't believe we're about the same size bump-wise but you've got twins in there and I'm expecting a single baby - as far as I know... Hmm

threelittleducks sorry to hear about your scare - how are you now?

cowes how are you feeling now? It's my first too and starting to get scared - can't believe I will actually be responsible for a baby.

We've still not moved house yet, but spoke to vendor today and all building checks are being done this week, HOPEHOPEHOPE to exchange contracts next week and move the following week/weekend. Am needing to nest.
Hope everyone else is getting on well.

grinningbee · 15/09/2010 16:00

Threelittleducks sorry for your scare, and very glad you're ok.

Islandbaby Hope everything goes well with the return to the UK.

Hi everyone else!

It is official, I am an elephant. I've just had my 31 week mw check, and I'm measuring 35 weeks. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek!! I am really hoping it's down to the fibroid, otherwise I'm asking DH to give birth this time Grin

harmonyb23 · 15/09/2010 18:53

grinningbee measuring 35 weeks, that's worrying isn't it? My midwife told me that if I was 3cm over or under the weekly growth of 1cm she would be concerned? I've been terrified of measuring wrong!! Maybe that's just my midwife being over the top about measurements??

rollerbaby · 15/09/2010 22:08

grinningbee I measured 38 at 33 so don't panic. I ended up having scan and gestational diabetes test and all was well - hes just got a big tum! Or I have anyway!

Welcome Islandbaby!

blondecat that sounds worrying for you... try not to though at least until you are sure what the new role will definitely entail. It might not be as bad as you think. Worrying defintiely won't help right now.

I've got 2 more weeks at work, can't wait to finish now and get nesting!

bunnygirl80 · 15/09/2010 23:38

islandbaby welcome. It sounds like you've had a really stressful time during your pg. Hope your trip back to the UK is uneventful

blondecat try not to worry too much about your DH's job. I'm sure your DH and LO will bond really well, even if he can't be there every day.

I've got my leaving do from work tomorrow, then finish for mat leave next Weds. Makes me realise that this LO's arrival is just a few weeks away....aargh

cluelessnchaos · 16/09/2010 08:22

Morning everyone, is anyone else really struggling to sleep, my pelvic muscles are really hurting and I cant seem to get comfy, dh went offshore this morning so I will have the whole bed to myself and all the pillows, this is the second last trip before the baby comes so its feeling really close now.

smokeybacon · 16/09/2010 09:12

God yes. I've now folded up a duvet and sleep on top of that AND a down mattress topper. Plus a dreamgenie maternity pillow and I still can't get comfy. My hips ache. My back aches. And don't forget the three or four trips for a wee throughout the night. Dealing with a newborn or two should be a breeze in comparison!!!
