Sorry should also say hello to islandbaby! Welcome congrats and best wishes to you and you dh. What a time you've had. Hope we can all be if support to you.

blondecat · 16/09/2010 11:52

comtessa I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you - it is so important to feel you have a nest at this stage. At least for me it does. Hopefully it will be done very soon.

Thanks your advice honeymoo and bunnygirl80 - I am trying. Honestly. Hormones probably don't help though.
Woke up at 330 last night and could not sleep for two hours. Nothing hurt - I am so lucky in that respect. Just mind buzzing.

clueless chaos love the name. Hopefully having the bed all yours will help.

grinningbee · 16/09/2010 12:19

Do you know, I've been misreading that name since the start - to me Cluelessnchaos has been Cluelessnachos. Why a nacho would be clueless I know not BlushGrin!

Er, anyway! I'm not too worried about the big measurement. I've got a scan at 36 weeks to check the fibroid, and I suspect it's that which is causing the problem. It was last measured almost 12 weeks ago at nearly 10x10x8cm. Big pesky thing. It's currently pushed up under my right ribs as I can feel it sometimes.

Of course, if the scan shows big baby instead, I may have to slap dh's willy between two bricks when I go into labour...

comtessa · 16/09/2010 14:10

Thanks blondecat, we had our offer accepted in May and had hoped to be in by the end of August. Now insisting that we're in by the end of September. Otherwise I will throw a strop in a very grown-up manner indeed.

cluelessnchaos · 16/09/2010 14:14

loving cluelessnachos, more like cluelessnandos, I am addicted to nandos chicken so nobody is to tell me its bad for me

islandbaby · 16/09/2010 16:10

I definitely sympathise cluelessnchaos. I wake up at least every 2 hours and can't get back to sleep in a comfortable position. When give up finally get out of bed in the morning, I have to battle with all the pillows I've tried to wedge into various places, without disturbing DP who is inevitably left with none!

Rinnyx · 16/09/2010 16:34

Went to the Dr's the other day and got the A-OK for Spain tho have to pay up £15 for a fit to fly letter.
Was all happy about getting the ok for Spain and my trapped nerve that I have had for months finally going to wake up to....may be TMI but piles Blush
The first and only time I had them in my life was right after having DD but now almost 8 years on they have returned, I would rather the trapped nerve pain back than this, the pain is horrid but DP thinks it rather funny Hmm
Am trying to just drink water and use the cream the Dr gave me but anyone got any tips as it kept me awake most of last night due to pain....HELP! :(

comtessa · 16/09/2010 16:40

Cold bath to reduce swellings Rinnyx? You poor thing - horrible.

comtessa · 16/09/2010 16:41

And paracetemol before bed may take the edge off.

nomoremagnolia · 16/09/2010 17:05

Hi girls, just checking in, sorry I've not been around much, have been enjoying 3 weeks of being at home with DH. He's back to work on Monday, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself when I'm on my own!
Sorry to hear about all you've been through islandbaby, it sounds like a terrible couple of months.
Hope everyone else is doing ok?

blondecat · 17/09/2010 09:19

rinnyx Wow am so envious! Hope you really enjoy Spain. Just one thing - don't worry but triple check if you won't need a new fit to fly letter for return leg of your journey. Some more ghastly airlines insist they be dated within a week of flying and if you go for a week or more they can cause trouble.

If you are stranded you can always come back with sas. (Don't work for them honest) it's just that they require no letters until 2 weeks before your due date. All you need is your notes to prove that.

Rinnyx · 17/09/2010 10:56

Thanks for the tip comtessa I have tried a warm bath the past 2 nights but no help so might try a cold cloth, icepack or something, horrid things Angry
Also thanks blondecat hopefully the airline will be nice :)
I so need this trip but just hope my problem goes away before then Blush

PrivetDancer · 17/09/2010 11:00

isn't it lukewarm baths you're supposed to do? not hot. and with salt in them.
google 'sitz bath' and keep lashing the cream on!

tanmu82 · 17/09/2010 11:02

OMG, I've not been on the antenatal board for a while - and we are 10 pages in to a 'new' thread!

My head is aching trying to read all the posts, so you'll have to excuse me, but I'm gonna just slip in here and try and keep up from now on!

Welcome to any newbies, and hello to everyone else!

6 weeks 4 days to EDD!!! (But still 4 more weeks of work :()

PrivetDancer · 17/09/2010 11:02

ah no sorry, i just googled myself, they should be warm. I'm sure I've seen about putting salt in though too.

islandbaby · 19/09/2010 01:01

Not a single hour of sleep last night, with my brain rushing through its thoughts at a million miles an hour. I have been trying to stop myself from napping throughout the day to keep myself more tired for later, but it's just impossible.

Do you guys think that's a good idea, or is just letting myself sleep a few hours here and there - be it night or day - is better than stressing myself out trying to stay awake until night?

lulastic · 19/09/2010 10:39

Hello! I have just found this thread for Nov babies, can I join you?
I can't believe there are only 8 weeks left now- anyone else feel like time is rushing by? I sort of want to put the brakes on a bit!

hmmSleep · 19/09/2010 17:38

Just bookmarking.

Hope everybody is well, welcome to the thread lulastic.

islandbaby I'm having trouble sleeping too, with no napping during the day, so I think you should just grab it if and when you can, think of it as good practise for when the baby arrives!

OP posts:
FourEyesGood · 19/09/2010 19:39

islandbaby DEFINITELY sleep whenever you can! :) If you're tired, you're tired, no matter what time of day it is, and chances are you'll sleep better at night if you're not utterly exhausted from trying to stay awake all day. This goes for when your baby arrives, too! I know I'll be napping at the same time as DS1 when I go on maternity leave, stopping only when I have to go back to work. Ugh, the thought of going back to work is hideous...

llandb · 20/09/2010 00:06

Hi everyone, just checking in again, still not having properly caught up...

Moving house next weekend (finally got it all signed) and I gather it might take a while for internet connection so don't know when I'll be back.

Am flipping and flopping over whether to try for a VBAC or opt for ELCS - have final appointment with consultant in three weeks, when I have to decide, and have barely stopped to think about it properly. Apparently I can choose, and neither option stands out to me in my case as overwhelmingly better than the other. On one hand, I'd choose ELCS like a shot if I didn't have to recover with a toddler to look after... and on t'other, would choose VBAC like a shot if I wasn't jittery about issues from last time and could end up with EMCS anyway... hopefully in three months from now it will all seems in the past and soft-focussed and won't matter a bit!

Rinnyx I hope you're having a fab time in Spain as we type and read! :)

Looopy I'm not bothering with antenatal classes this time around.

Last time we chose NHS over NCT. Partly because it would have been a huge faff to attend the NCT classes because of their location and duration, whereas the NHS ones were much easier to get to. And partly because we'd been given to understand that the content was identical except that the NCT did it in a more touchey-feeley way (with lots of roleplaying and whalesong) and we thought we'd rather save the money and skip the jigsaws and whalesong.

As it turned out, the NHS classes were next to useless to anyone who'd skimmed a book about birth; we were taught absolutely nothing about care of the baby (apart from an associated breastfeeding class, actually very useful), and they weren't even much good about the hospital tour or telling us what to do about coming in when labour started. Though I gather that wasn't typical of NHS classes!

So this time, I'm thinking, well, why go to the hassle of attending NCT this time when I didn't last time when it might have done more good! Can spend the time productively by MNing.

mumandstudent good luck, but, thanks but no thanks, what chaos said and I need my headspace!

4madboys you give us hope that we can cope!

hmm glad your back is better - and hair dyeing is extremely important! (Says she who hasn't had a cut since Feb)

smokey

Actually cake and foot masseurs for all the lurgey-ridden and sore-backed and other sore bits-and-bobs people, too. I manage to re-ignite an ancient back injury carrying DD the other day, but luckily nothing a hot water bottle didn't fix. Feel very sorry for the more pained people :(

Hi islandbaby - welcome, and, you poor thing, what a lot you and your DP have been through! I hope some calm comes your way soon.

harmony :o at the annotations on your pics!

blondecat that sounds grim - mope/vent away!

Hi lulastic!

LOL at cluelessnachos - isn't that when you innocently mistake the jalapeno for the guacamole...?

'Night to everyone and bumps!

grinningbee · 20/09/2010 09:05

Morning all!

Another vote here for sleep when you can. Not that I get the opportunity now, seeing as dd is pretty much on the go all of the time. I tend to drop off by accident when getting her to sleep at night, before I have my dinner!

I also didn't bother with any classes this time, or the first time. I don't think it's done me any harm, especially as we moved right before dd was born so any friends we'd have made we wouldn't have seen again anyway.

I took Amy to the park the other day. Damn near killed me! I was so puffed it was embarrassing. Blush

I am currently considering cutting the grass... we shall see! At least then I can put up the swing in our garden and save a trek!

4madboys · 20/09/2010 09:20

morning all, just bookmarking as i had lost the thread!

not normally about at this time, should be on the school run, but i cheated and sent the boys in a taxi as i didnt sleep well last night and my pelvis feels a bit achey. other than that all good here.

sorted out all baby clothes yesterday, so they are organised into sizes etc, i had so much stuff that i am giving some to a friend, this little girl is going to have the biggest wardrobe ever!

rinny hope the piles ease up, i guess you just have to eat well, drink loads etc adn they should go down after the birth.

with regards to sleep, when dp is at home i have been grabbing the odd nap as i am really tired, didnt help that i was ill last week with a cold/flu bug and throwing up as well Hmm so that wiped me out a bit, planning on a quiet day with ds4 today, plenty of housework to do as ever, but other than that and the school run this afternoon i shant be doing much.

re antental classes, with ds1 i did the nhs ones, which were pretty crap, then with ds2 i did the nct ones, with ds3 i went a to birth group run by a doula, didnt bother with anything for ds4 and again not bothering this time, think i have done it enough by now tbh! Grin

hope house moves go ok for those having to survive that trauma!

and hope your dh is recovering ok island baby and you get back to the uk ok :) xxx

right i am off for some breakfast to see if that will make me feel less sick, ithought morning sickness was meant to have gone by now? Hmm

cluelessnchaos · 20/09/2010 09:21

Morning, I have one dc off sick today so a quiet day at home planned, I have been going to bed mega early particularly with dh being offshore and thenI dont feel stressed if I woke lots of times, last night I kept waking up on my back again, feeling sick and breathless, I thought I had gone past that and was firmly weighted on either side, 3 weeks left of work, had a lovely week last week (but very busy) went to see friend who has moved to the seaside and had fish and chips and walked the dog, 2 nights of fashion show production, I was a dresser, and general get togethers with friends, also had a very frank discussion with gp about pros and cons of home birth in this area. Lots to think and talk about when dh gets home

Threelittleducks · 20/09/2010 09:41

Bonjourno fellow pregnants!

Hope al are well and growing nie and big (goodness knows I am!)

Well, the contractions have been on and off now for about a week - it's getting a bit tedious. Feel pretty rough too as there's a cold going about which my ds has happily passed on to all and sundry! It really does suck being pg with a cold and unable to take anything stronger than paracetamol!

Have my consultant appointment this week to discuss c/section, which is keeping me going - it's all milestones now. And mostly the only reason I get out of the house nowadays (appointments). The SPD has made sure of that! Plus, in my 'getting up off the floor in an elegant fashion' and to avoid having pain in my pelvis, I got up too quick and whacked my tailbone off the arm of the couch and heard it go 'pop'.
Hurts like buggery.
So now I have major sitting down/standing up dilemmas!! Ha ha! :)

Between my tubu-grip for my middle, my blotchy hands, lovely crutches, shuffling while I walk and HUGE bump I am one sexy lady at the moment. Goodness knows how dh can still feel the love, bless him Grin

Not long to go ladies! I am getting so excited!

llandb · 20/09/2010 09:42

Morning all! Grinningbee that cut grass vs trek to playground sounds like a short term pain, long term gain strategy :o

4madboys yuk. Another one still having MS - I had hoped it would be gone by now because it vanished at around this stage last time after I had a horrendous 12-hour bout of what I think was food poisoning (or MS having a last hurrah?) Biscuit. At least it's manageable and is not as bad as some poor people I know who are being medicated. Did you get it this late in the piece with your other pregnancies? Maybe if you've been throwing up it's MS having its final say as well as bug, and you'll be better soon? (clutching at straws)
