Hope BP comes down nicely, Gaga. It's really good that baby is the right size for dates. Hope you're on the sofa.

Here I'm so overcome by nesting instinct that I actually can't sleep. Just lie there thinking of all the things in the house that are in the wrong places or badly organised and which I haven't had time to sort out yet. Yesterday reorganised and cleaned most of the kitchen cupboards. It's total domestic mania. Not something anyone would have predicted I'd suffer from...

Sitting here drinking my 273ml of foul energy drink for mini-GTT. Only 4.5 weeks late. DS wants me to film the blood test cos he's at preschool and will miss it. Little ghoul.

Good luck with the aches and pains. It's outrageous how little NHS help there is with something as disabling as SPD, isn't it? I've just had 3rd session with specialist physio at £40 a go and am very much better - but it's a lot of money and I'm counting myself very lucky to have been able to afford it.

Pidgin · 30/09/2010 09:54

Poor you gaga, that sounds very stressful. I hope you're able to rest up and look after yourself.

Lovely pics harmony!

Umf I am exactly the same re: nesting. Although I don't really want to do it all that much at the moment, I just want it to have been done. I lie awake at night thinking of all the things that need cleaning or reorganising. I did our kitchen cupboards too on Monday, very satisfying. Hope the GTT goes well and glad to hear SPD is improving.

Rinnyx · 30/09/2010 11:15

Congrats on your little boy harmonyb23 :)

umf your not alone on the nesting, mine kicked in afew weeks ago I think and has now gone into over drive, I got excited when we went shopping last night getting a scrubbing brush, gloves and new cleaning products (I have used all that we had) Blush

hmmSleep · 30/09/2010 11:27

Sorry to hear about the pre-eclampsia Gaga, I had it with Dd and made it to nearly 37 weeks, she was fine. Put your feet up and try to rest!

Great pics harmony, what a cutie!

Glad all looks OK Rinny.

My nesting appears to have lasted all of the one weekend when I cleaned under the bath, have done nothing since (looks around at mess Blush). I just feel shattered all the time, anyone else just feel constantly exhausted?

Have my consultant appointment in an hour, get the feeling it will be a 3 minute thing as really not sure what there is to discuss. Haven't seen midwife or anyone for 5 weeks though so will be nice just to know all is going OK.

Hi all

Sorry to hear about the pre-eclampsia gaga, hope your bp comes down and baby stays put for a few more weeks

Just come back from the midwife, took some more blood to check iron levels but all else looks ok. UTI has cleared up and the spatone seems to suit my stomach so I'm feeling better in general, just knackered! Lovely midwife said dark choc is a great source on iron tho :)

Feet/ ankles still really puffy tho, apparently there's little I can do. It should clear up pretty quickly once baby arrives.

We're doing the Saturday morning parenting/ birth classes at Nottingham City Hosp, had the 'Active Birth' last week, seemed ok, informative but not horribly scary. Felt a bit sorry for the staff tho, they've had to put extra classes on due to high demand (lots of Oct/ Nov/ Dec babies in Nottingham) but 6 couples in last weeks didn't show up :(

sancerrre · 30/09/2010 12:57

tiany my hypnobirthing book says to start the perinneal massage 6 to 8 weeks before due date, at least 5 mins a day. Seems a long time. My DH can't wait to get started though but that's because he thinks its the kind of massage that has a happy ending - not sure I'm up for that every day for the last 6 - 8 weeks! Hmm

umf, sabie I had to redo the nasty glucose drink test and glucose levels are now even higher so am off for the full GTT 4 blood tests in a day tomorrow - what fun! Am a bit miffed as I have none of the risk factors, apart from being a bit old I suppose, and tend to eat brown bread, brown pasta etc rather than white. Hoping I don't get put on the insulin injections.

In happier news, I found a great babygro with a reindeer on for the baby to wear on Christmas day so that's cheered me up!

Re: nesting, the thought did cross my mind to clean a cupboard recently but I quickly dismissed it as I've been told that once you start cleaning that means the baby's coming. What a great excuse not to clean for the next few weeks! Smile

CardiCorgi · 30/09/2010 13:11

Sorry to hear about that Gaga how do explain the wee-bottle to colleagues?

Rinnyx good to hear that the baby is fine.

I'm off to the doctor again tomorrow for the same reason - she's been monitoring me closely since week 20 as I seem to be a good breeding ground for infections in the nether regions (not fun, I'm fed up of being poked around and having to take antibiotics is a pain) and at the last appointment the scan measurements suggested that the baby hadn't grown as much as it should. Of course, despite being told not to worry, I am. It seems fairly active (4am aerobics), and the blood flow in the umbilical cord was fine, so I'm hoping that it was just an inaccurate size measurement.

Anyone worried by the fact that there is an antenatal thread for June next year! Have we really been pregnant for that long?

Mibby · 30/09/2010 14:58

June?!! Already?!! Oh Dear :(

Pidgin · 30/09/2010 16:32

We have been pregnant for approximately seven years.

Vix7 · 30/09/2010 17:21

just when i thought i'd leave the office as quietly as i came.....got surprised with a huge bunch of flowers and a really thoughtful card.

/ cue slight teariness

i swear the hormones are making me nutzoid.

sancerrre · 30/09/2010 17:35

Awww, that's nice vix i take it that means you're now officially on maternity leave. Envy

smokeybacon · 30/09/2010 20:10

Hi all, just popping on to say congrats to contessa for your move on Sat. Hope it all goes well. And don't do any of the heavy lifting yourself will you?

gaga hope you are putting your feet up and your BP comes down. I am glad though that the hospital are keeping a close eye on it. I had high BP with DS1's pg and was continously sent to hosptial for monitoring, and i did the huge bottle of wee thing too. It was irritating but I am glad they were on top of it. Better safe than sorry.

balijay · 30/09/2010 21:10

Evening - just popping on to catch up. The 3rd trimester aches/pains/troubles are really starting to kick in now aren't they? (Makes a mental note to stop whinging and be grateful I have none of these at the mo!)

Had to laugh at your last comment pidgin - yes it does feel that long doesn't it!

Nothing much to report here, 33 weeks and still 3 weeks to work so just plodding on and resting when I can. Is anyone else here planning on giving birth at either Bournemouth/Poole or the Princess Anne in Southampton? Am trying to find out about The Haven Birthing Suite??

Now where do I find this nesting instinct some of you have.. I really need mine to kick in.......

BorisTheBold · 30/09/2010 21:25

Hi balijay, I will be delivering at PAH. Possible ELCS if baby is still breech and/or measuring bigger than expected. Have also got yet another scan on Monday to check the position. Here's hoping it's decided to shift.

Never heard of the Haven birthing suite. Had dd1 and dd2 at PAH, but neither were straightforward deliveries tbh.

gaga sorry to hear about your bp. Dp had to do the wee bottle thing recently don't think he's pregnant though I promise I didn't laugh at all when he wandered in carrying two massive brown paper bags with the bottles in them. I was more amazed at how much he could pee tbh!! Grin. Anyway, get your feet up and your bp down missus.

rollerbaby · 30/09/2010 22:05

gaga hope you get your BP back down... Lots of feet up and box sets for you!

Last day at work today - very relieved and looking forward to a lie in tomorrow!

Ironically have just started getting back pain for the first time in 36 weeks! Almost like a nerve in the same place to the right of my back halfway up. Is anyone suffering back pain? Wondering if it could be positioning but seems unlikely...

bunnygirl80 · 01/10/2010 00:16

gaga hope you get your BP down and you can keep LO cooking for a while

cardi hope everything goes ok at the docs

I'm struggling to sleep much at the moment - I'm sooooo tired, but as soon as I lie down my brain switches on and starts going over and over all of the things that I need to do before baby arrives.

Babybean1 · 01/10/2010 09:14

Hi everyone! Just a very quick post before I come back for a 'proper' post update etc later......but just wanted to ask if there were any others in or near the Bristol area that fancied meeting up next Tuesday??

Ebb, Harmony and I are all Bristol ladies and have arranged to meet up and wondered if anyone else fancied joining us?

Will return to catch up properly v soon....bye for now
X

balijay · 01/10/2010 09:58

Hi Boris thanks for replying. The Haven is the midwife led part of Poole. I have had one at Poole and one at PAH (a good while ago tho) as I live equal distance between the two - really can't make my mind up this time! Will discuss again with midwife at 36 wks and go from there..

Day off here thank goodness although the weather is absolutely atrocious. Never mind, good excuse to hibernate on the sofa!!

Have a lovely day Smile

balijay · 01/10/2010 09:59

PS Hope your baby is facing the right way now Boris, will keep my fingers crossed for you

sarahbuff · 01/10/2010 10:20

The Princess Anne in Southampton is where they filmed "One Born Every Minute", isn't it? I ODed on episodes a bit last night while hubby was out... Any other November mummies planning a homebirth? I should be getting the entonox delivery in a week and a half or so. Getting so excited!

mumcha · 01/10/2010 10:57

hi all because im from belfast i dnt know if you get it on bbc1 on a monday night its a programe called special delieverys showing births in the ulster hospital were i am having my lo .

sarahbuff · 01/10/2010 12:03

Hi Mumcha! Been watching Special Deliveries on iPlayer. Very interesting! It seems like a nice place to go. Hope it goes well for you!

balijay · 01/10/2010 12:25

Yes sarah thats where they film OBEM. Think I heard there is a new series next year? I have also been watching Special Deliveries on IPlayer, I love that sort of stuff!

Also much respect to you sarah and anyone else planning a homebirth - I am a wimp and even tho I have given birth without I need to be where the epidurals are, just in case! Silly, aren't I Blush

sarahbuff · 01/10/2010 13:40

Of course you aren't silly! You need to be where you feel most comfortable and able to get through it. I'm just thankful to have had three really short and easy labours and hope this one is the same!

comtessa · 01/10/2010 13:48

Thanks smokey! Have man-and-van, DH and two strong (male) friends to help. I will be mostly making tea and directing operations. Note to self: Must buy new kettle tomorrow morning, ours leaks. Are you on maternity leave now?

Happy new maternity leave to Vix!

I have four weeks until my leave starts - can't wait. Must sort MA before then...
