Good luck with the scan tommorow rinnyx, I am sure it will be fine, you must just have tummy muscles left.

tiany · 28/09/2010 22:10

Hello ladies... havent been on for ages, hope everyone is well... assuming we have no babies yet? Hope everyone is well... feeling pretty knackered but otherwise not too bad.

Feels like my little one is going to bust out any minute, he/she seems to have gotten really strong.

When do we start the perineal massage..thinking it will be a bit strange but will try anything that helps!! i have read not to start until 36wks?

blondecat · 28/09/2010 22:26

Cpongratlations comtessa and welcome back and good luck rinnyx

NCT class was ok. I was close to tears at the beginning as I was the only one alone and watching everyone chatting and cuddling, then another lady arrived sans DH so it was better

But to be honest I didn't bond with anyone. Somehow others sat together and chatted and I got left on the sides. Maybe I do something wrong. Or I smell. Blush

DH will be there Saturday so thats good. He should find the other daddies' concerns about scheduling work travel around due date and telling colleagues reassuringly familiar.

just wanted to say good luck to rinny today - let us know how you get on x

harmonyb23 · 29/09/2010 09:11

Good luck today Rinny! Hope all goes well.

I am off for a gender scan and 4d scan today. Hoping that we will finally be able to tell the sex of LO.

Ebb · 29/09/2010 10:38

Good luck with your scan Rinny and Harmomy I hope you find out for sure what you're having.

I saw the MW yesterday and have been diagnosed with SPD. Had more bloods done and couldn't help but laugh when the student MW got really excited that she managed to get my blood this time! Hopefully the results will be higher again.

I asked the student MW about raspberry leaf tea and she said not to drink it before 40wks as it can bring on labour so I'm off to H&B to grab several boxes. Grin Grin Grin I've actually read that it just strengthens contractions and makes them more efficient but doesn't actually bring on labour. Either way, I'll give it a go.

I've started packing my hospital bag but am hoping baby will come at a convenient time, will be a quick easy labour and I can go home 6hrs later and be back in my own bed for night time. Wink

hmmSleep · 29/09/2010 11:03

Oops, meant ruptured uterus, not erupted Pidgin, not sure what an erupted uterus would be!

Hope the baby is positioned well for you at scan today harmony.

Bad news about the SPD Ebb, you'll have to try the excersises someone (was it harmony?) suggested a while back.

I have an appointment with consultant tomorrow, not really sure what for Confused, I'll be exactly 36 weeks, all feeling very imminent and rather scary!

Loooopy · 29/09/2010 11:45

good luck for today rinny hope it's just that you are having a smaller baby than some others!

ebb sorry to hear about SPD, i was diagnosed with it last Tuesday when i saw the midwife and its not nice at all - all the midwife said to me was to phone physio direct, and they can suggest some exercises and maybe provide a support belt which might help, but got the impression that nothing from physio direct is free?

I did too much on Sunday and was suddenly in a lot of pain, but i found that just by lying down which took the weight off my pelvis area, the pain went quickly - just really achey and stiff in lower back then. Will be so glad when bump arrives as i'm hoping the aches will go then.

Re raspberry leaf, from what i've read/been told, it tastes awful, so tablets/capsules are best, and it doesn't bring on labour, but it does tone your uterus and mean that when you do go into labour, your body should work with you and lead to a faster and easier labour. Figure that it's got to be worth a try!

I'll be 34 weeks this weekend, but bump still seems to have enough space in there to move around, as hard lumps that i can feel that i think are head and bum keep moving position (not that i can tell which lump is which!) How active are your bumps? I thought that it might have settled by now, and worrying that if it's still moving, it could end up going breech just at the last minute which would stop me having a home birth....

And also, have any of you heard a sort of clicking/cracking sound when your baby moves/kicks? Not sure if its my body making the noise, or bump's bones? But just seems to have started over the last week and has happened several times and not sure if this is normal?!

shoppingstar · 29/09/2010 12:02

Hello all - another mostly lurker here.

Sorry to hear of the people in pain and hope the scans go well today.

Just wanted to add my tuppence worth re raspberry leaf tea. The herbalist I spoke to said that tea was more effective than capsules and that loose leaf tea tasted better than tea bags. She also said some people prefer it with honey. She advised one cup a day from 28 weeks, 2 from 32 weeks and unlimited cups from 37 weeks.

I think my LO is lying posterior as bump has changed shape (flatter) and kicks have moved, so its "operation kneeling and swimming" for the next few weeks here . . .

Loooopy · 29/09/2010 12:17

oh, before i forget, bit of a random question here....not exactly baby related but hoping you can give opinions!! I want some new bedsheets, but the colour i want i can only find made from Egyptian Cotton. I know this is meant to be good stuff, but i've never had any of these before.

There are 2 types i have found in the right colour - one is 200 thread and the other is 400 thread. I know this means that the 400 one is better quality and softer than the 200 thread, but what i am wondering is whether 200 thread is soft enough when compared to 100% cotton sheets that we've had in the past, and worth buying, or whether it would still feel rough or scratchy??(if anyone is able to answer this!!)

prices of 400 thread are more than 200 thread and i don't want to waste money for the sake of it when i'm trying to limit our outgoings if the 200 thread is more than good enough, but likewise, the 200 thread isn't exactly cheap and i'd be gutted if after spending that much money, they weren't comfy!!

Rinnyx · 29/09/2010 12:58

Hi ladies thanks for all your good lucks x
Went for the growth scan today, DS seems fine, hes very active still and heart rate is good, he is head down tho only problem really is I have low amniotic fluid (notes say boarderline) but because hes so active and heart rate is good they are happy to let me carry on as normal tho if I get any pains or he becomes less active I have to call up right away.
Was confirmed again that he is a boy (she pointed out the 'boy bits' as she put it)

comtessa · 29/09/2010 15:13

That's great news Rinnyx, and congratulations again on your boy.

comtessa · 29/09/2010 15:14

PS Are any other Nottingham ladies doing Monday evening ante-natal classes at City Hospital in October?

blondecat · 29/09/2010 15:47

Looopy Any way you can touch it?
I have some 300 count sheets that feel softer than 400 due to a different weave

Normally the ones from 250 count up feel very soft - sometimes people don't mention the count on the lower end of the scale so you don't know if it's 150, 200 etc

However 180 up is considered good generally and I think bog standard is 150.

Rinnyx great news

Had a scare yesterday as just before leaving for drinks something came out of well my lower end. I thought it was the show and panicked calling the hospital (we are 32 +2 only). Midwife told me to come in - leading to more panic but luckily my consultant was in and after a brief conversation told me not to worry unless there is blood of any sort. So am monitoring closely but quite happily now as I think it was just random "goo". Blush
I suspect we will all have a lot more scares over the coming weeks as we gear up to the D-days!

comtessa · 29/09/2010 16:36

blondecat what a shock for you, glad to hear everything's okay.

Is anyone else getting very tender in the very lower abdomen area? Just above the ladygarden (ROFL at turn of phrase - just heard it from my SIL the other day and have been looking forward to using it :o )
It struck me that it could be the baby's head, but as I'm a novice first-timer I really have no idea!

Hope everyone else is well.

Vix7 · 29/09/2010 16:56

hi all,

second last day of work b4 i go on leave. am mildly annoyed cos mat cover girl has turfed me out of my own office. i know it's only 2 days on a laptop for me, but it was MY space. i didn't even have time to clear out my things properly, just threw everything into a bag and moved to the temp table.

colleagues say im probably just being oversensitive about it. but am still miffed.

i thought bump is supposed to get less active as she runs out of space to move? it doesnt seem like that to me at all! i get lots of butt bumps, elbows/knees/feet poking out, and tons of hiccups.

Fenouille · 29/09/2010 19:50

Hi Vix, I would be miffed as well. I've taken a dislike to the chap who's going to be my cover (far too over-friendly) but I keep taking deep breaths and reminding myself that I won't have to work with him for the next 4 months - its my poor colleagues I should be feeling sorry for Grin Can you get in early to steal back your office properly clear out your things?

Samraves · 29/09/2010 19:54

Well, my bump is definitely still very active, just slower bigger movements that I can now see when I look at my tummy. I am finding it a bit odd (although reassuring). Knew I shouldn't have watch Alien vs Predator Requiem a few days ago!!!

Gaga82 · 29/09/2010 20:24

Hi all,

Been a bit hit and miss getting on here regularly at the minute, but now I've found you all again will keep it up! Hope that everyone is getting their feet up lots and indulging in the chocolate diet.

Not a great week this week. At 34 week app on Monday blood pressure was sky high and protein in urine. MW sent me straight to day unit where I had to stay for 4 hours until BP was safe enough to go home (nothing like being told you have to relax or stay in for the night to stress you right out!) Anyway, had to go back today for repeat bloods/urine/scans/monitoring of both of us and I have pre-eclampsia. Pretty gutted really, but scans and baby monitoring shows s/he is spot on for dates and growing well which was my main concern and such a wonderful relief to hear. I feel fine and had done manic cleaning sessions all the weekend before so was quite a shock.
So it is to the hospital 2/3 mornings a week hooked up to various machines for me from now on and have to cut down to nothing at work or they'll sign me off a week early. Being put on tablets next appointment that will hopefully bring down pressure, if not - baby has to come out a week later, which is pretty terrifying when I'm only 34 weeks! Furniture not even delivered for another 2 weeks!! Really hoping they do their trick, want this baby to cook for as long as possible and to have a 'normal' birth! Anyone else had anyting similar to relate to? Feels quite strange, like I have suddenly lost all control.

On the lighter side, I have to collect all my urine for next 24 hours (pleasant) and have the biggest bottle in the world for it - not quite sure how that will make it discreetly to the loo with me tomorrow at work!!

Anyway, this is made me spring into action packing bag/sorting clothes passed by family etc. If anyone has any handy tips, please pass on Smile

And to the spotter of the October post natal thread - aarrghh!!

PrivetDancer · 29/09/2010 21:14

Omg gaga! scary stuff. Good that they have caught it though and the baby is fine. Worst case the baby comes in a week and at 35 weeks really would be fine, probably just in hospital for a few days. But yes, get that washing on :o
Hey you might be the first baby! :)

Sabie · 29/09/2010 22:14

BIG Thanks to everyone who responded to my big baby/diabetes post at the weekend...so reassuring to hear others are in similar position and are still getting on nicely.

Gaga Poor you; bit of a shock eh? Try not to worry. Perhaps you should 'go Victorian' with your baby; it can sleep in a lined drawer! I can't remember our grandparents waiting for Argos deliveries. You got a laptop so you can still post on MN? My friend had to do the urine thing, she broke it on the bus on the way in.....Blush

Keep cooking all....

tiany · 29/09/2010 22:30

wow gaga.... had a friend who recently gave birth at 34wks and baby is doing just fine, fingers crossed you can hang on longer though!

My LO moves lots too and the kicks are quite strong... sometimes think its bum pushing out on one side and legs on the other... my top actually stretches...and my tummy if in all sorts of off shapes aswell !

islandbaby · 29/09/2010 23:49

Sorry to hear the news gaga, but try and stay relaxed and feel confident that your medical team are doing all they can to get things right for you.

I threw a bit of a stressy fit a few days ago when I picked up my blood and urine test results and saw I had a fair amount of protein in my urine. Booked an expensive consultation with the hospital (am stuck in chile for a few more weeks) to talk about it, where the doctor pointed out that I was looking at the protein count in my blood, not my urine. Urine all fine.

50 quid for proving I'm a bit of a numpty.

harmonyb23 · 30/09/2010 09:23

Hey everyone, sorry to hear about your situation Gaga. I hope baby hangs on in there a little longer, and that your blood pressure goes down! Make sure to take it easy!!!

Had my gender and 4d scans yesterday. Baby has been confirmed as a boy, and we got a couple of really good 3d shots. Was really exciting seeing LO again, can't wait till he joins us in 7 weeks (or there about) time! Going to be stocking up on boy stuff for baby's birth and christmas now. DS christmas presents are practically all bought so it's only baby to think about, and he won't want for a lot considering he'll only be about a month old! Think I am just going to get some cute little outfits etc...

Hope everyone else is well.
