Hey everyone. Back from my weekend away and off to catch up. But just quickly from a quick luck :

  • home births : I had an lazing home birth with my ds. You really can do it if you want to. Happy to discuss it with anyone who wants to.
  • sickness. No sickness for me yet so a bit worried. What stage did everyones sickness kick in? I'm not five weeks yet so hoping it's that!
  • scans. After an early miscarriage in spring there's no way I can wait till12 weeks so if the dr doesn't give me a 6/7 week one we've decided to pay for one..

Catch you all later x

toomuchtimeonline · 31/08/2010 14:41

Really should proof read.. First para should be "a quick look"

2nd para should be "an amazing homebirth"

Hello

Got my BFP yesterday and due sometime between 5th-9th May, depending on which due date calculator you use. This is/will be dc2, been ttc for 4 months so v pleased to be here.

Hoping this is a sticky one. Anyone been to the GP yet? Was there like a shot last time but the (I subsequently found out) notoriously rubbish doctor acted as if it was far too early to be there. Am thinking about booking an appt for next week or week after by which time I should be at 5/6 weeks.

Rather anxious this time around as am 38 now.

zinnia · 31/08/2010 17:51

OK somehow managed to 'lose' 2 pages of thread there. Blush.

No symptoms at all here yet, but seem to remember they took a while to kick in.

All things being equal, I plan to head straight for the hospital birth centre where had my dd 25 mths ago, it was ace (but did have a fairly straightforward labour so that helps of course).

LostGeek · 31/08/2010 18:14

I don't feel sick yet and am a bit worried too. I'm 6 weeks 1 day officially, but I ovulate day 21-23 so I think size wise, it's more like a 'normal' person's 5 weeks. But not everyone gets sick, do they?

Pochard · 31/08/2010 18:44

.

Pochard · 31/08/2010 18:54

(Just testing my new nickname! Am a regular but haven't told anyone in RL...)

Hello everyone - I am very excited to join the thread as I am due May 7. We found out this morning Grin. I have one DD who is 2.2 and we had only been trying for a month (well, 2 weeks really) so we feel very lucky to have got a BFP so quickly (don't hate me!).

Congratulations to everyone else!

I don't feel at all sick, and to reassure others who don't, I was one of the very fortunate ones who didn't feel sick at all when I was carrying my DD. I am hoping that this bodes well for this pregnancy too!

I am however feeling even more hungry than usual - anyone got any bright ideas for healthy but filling snacks (esp ones you can have at work)? So far I am trying: breakfast cereal, toast, banana, banana smoothie, nuts and dried fruit, flapjack (kinda healthy, right?!). And then I run out of ideas and eat cake instead...Fresh fruit just doesn't fill me up.

I have added myself to the list:

Purplebuns: EDD 1-3 May 2011 (DD almost 16 months)
Yorkstar: EDD 1 May 2011 (DS 22 months)
MummyWilliams: EDD 5 May 2011 (*7 DD9, DS7) Aged 39
MaggieMac: EDD 8 May 2011 (DD 26 months)
tummytickler: EDD 1 May 2011 (dd9, ds7, dd5, ds3)
LostGeek EDD 30 April 2011
Pochard EDD 7 May 2011 (DD 26 months)

MaggieMac - looks like we will have an almost identical age gap between our DCs if all goes to plan.

lolaclare · 31/08/2010 19:07

Adding myself to the list (and have put it into chronological order by EDD):

Lolaclare EDD 29 April 2011 (DD4)
LostGeek EDD 30 April 2011
Yorkstar: EDD 1 May 2011 (DS 22 months)
tummytickler: EDD 1 May 2011 (dd9, ds7, dd5, ds3)
Purplebuns: EDD 1-3 May 2011 (DD almost 16 months)
MummyWilliams: EDD 5 May 2011 (*7 DD9, DS7) Aged 39
Pochard EDD 7 May 2011 (DD 26 months)
MaggieMac: EDD 8 May 2011 (DD 26 months)

Hiiii zinnia - nice to see someone from the May bus. Hoping to see some others from there join here soon...

No sickness here yet.

Hoping for an ELCS this time as had quite a traumatic time and EMCS last time. May have to fight for it though...

zinnia · 31/08/2010 19:58

Hoping there will be more grads from the May bus here before too long...

Added my stats:

Lolaclare EDD 29 April 2011 (DD4)
LostGeek EDD 30 April 2011
Yorkstar: EDD 1 May 2011 (DS 22 months)
tummytickler: EDD 1 May 2011 (dd9, ds7, dd5, ds3)
Purplebuns: EDD 1-3 May 2011 (DD almost 16 months)
MummyWilliams: EDD 5 May 2011 (*7 DD9, DS7) Aged 39
Zinna: EDD 5-9 May 2011 (DD 25 mths)
Pochard EDD 7 May 2011 (DD 26 months)
MaggieMac: EDD 8 May 2011 (DD 26 months)

Will update my EDD once I've plucked up courage to see GP! Really hope not 5th, that's my wedding anniversary.

Nice to see others with dcs around the same age as mine - have been fretting about age gap for some stupid reason, must remind self that 2.5-3 yrs is totally normal.

pissedrightoff · 31/08/2010 20:34

Hello all

Got my BFP yesterday morning and going by those internet calculator whatsits I should be due 1st May 2011.(all being well)

I have a DD who is 13 months, freaked out slightly about the age gap but due to a lovely reassuring thread on here am now feeling very positive (ha!See what I did there?)

Have got GP app tomorrow to get bloods taken as had an ectopic before DD, Fingers crossed this wee one has made it to the right place.

StiffyByng · 31/08/2010 21:02

Hi

I got my BFP last Friday, on holiday, so had to wait until today to call our local community midwives. I'd heard their books fill up VERY quickly so you have to get in fast! They will arrange a booking in meeting around 8 weeks and the scan, which should be around my birthday! I just hope they don't forget it all, as I did it over the phone and am a bit nervous at being forgotten. My due date is somewhere in the first week of May, probably 3 May.

We tried for 6 months and I had decided that I was too fat (BMI 33) to conceive so it was a huge surprise. I'm just hoping that I make it to 12 weeks - it's such a long time and I'm so nervous. First baby.

I also have mild cramps - at first I thought I was about to get my period - and sore boobs that appear to have grown a bit. I always have a big tummy though. Bit sad I won't get to see a bump appear. I get offered seats on the tube all the time because I look about six months gone, and this morning, for the first time, I took one! I was shattered, although I think that was jet lag...

Hello to all of you! Lovely to meet you, and sorry to ramble on.

Pochard · 31/08/2010 21:13

Hellow pissedrightoff and StiffyByng and congratulations! Would you like to add yourselves to the stats list? Smile.

I have signed up today to the Babycentre weekly emails (I really liked them with DD - they are really matter of fact and useful) and our beans are the size of a poppy seed at the moment!

Why are you fretting about the age gap, zinnia?

MrsColes · 31/08/2010 22:02

Hi everyone. Can I join?! We've just found out tonight that we're expecting our first baby, from my calculations its due 10th May. So exciting! :o x

Purplebuns · 31/08/2010 22:24

Hi everyone!
So many newcomers congratulations to you all!

pissedrightoff my age gap will similar to yours as DD is coming up 16 months.
Pochard I also concieved in one month, twice as DD was unplanned so they can hate both of us Wink also for healthy snacking I use Graze, here is a code;HF4Z1BF for you to try a free box it is lovely and there is always something to share with my DD in there as well.

stiffybyng there has been a fair bit of discussion on cramps and it seems like we have all had them :)

If anyone has any questions on Breastfeeding (although it is early) I am an almost trained peer supporter and have just one more session before I 'graduate' :o

MaggieMac · 31/08/2010 22:59

hi all,

congraulations to all newcomers.

Pochard - I was thinking that too when I read your post.Grin

zinnia · 31/08/2010 23:45

Nice to see so many new joiners, congratulations all.

Pochard I realised belatedly that it sounds a bit odd to be "fretting" about that age gap. Think it's a hangover from ttc-ing - had started to worry that was going to take us months and months then suddenly everyone else seemed to have a 2 yr gap and so worried that had left it late and should have started earlier... etc. etc. Downward spiral from there really. Needless things you get anxious about when ttc! Partly to do with my own age as well, but am now trying to relax and just be happy about the BFP whilst balancing that with not getting over-excited.

God why does it take SO LONG to get to 12 weeks?

Morning all!
Hello, loads of newcomers - Congratulations!
My boobs are massive today, and dh is saying he would be very surprised if people didn't guess before 12 weeks, as my belly is starting to stick out already, my stomach muscles seem to have just given up totally this time around!
loopymumsy - I love a bit of lentil weaving myself! Unfortunately I live too far away from the hospital to feel safe with a home birth. Which is a shame as I would love to, but imo the emergency transfer time is too long. hope your EPU visit zooms 'round and all is well for you.

Dh and I are arguing madly on names - we might be divorced by May at this rate Grin

zinnia · 01/09/2010 09:17

Hey Loopy had been hoping you'd be around here, good that you're getting the EPU. Will look forward to seeing more of you once that's out of the way.

Am a semi lentil-weaver myself (cloth nappies, breastfeeding, lots of slings but with a pretty disciplined routine thrown in. Would have a homebirth were it not for all the mess, tbh).

Still no symptoms here aside from the occasional crampy twinge, but I'm not desperate for them to start. Main memories of this stage last time round = constant ravenous hunger + huge, sore boobs. :(

LostGeek · 01/09/2010 11:43

Hello to all the new people. I'm looking forward to learning how to weave lentils :) I've never even eaten one.

Does anyone else feel freezing cold all the time?

Yorkstar · 01/09/2010 17:27

Hello to everybody who is new and congratulations on your bfp's!

Me LostGeek im freezing too - is it a pregnancy symptom? Iv been bloody freezing all day at work, just glad my boobs are not sore yet otherwise i might be walking around holding my nipples like last time to keep the cold off :o

Well first day back today and first signs of morning sickness too. Pregnancy symptoms have definately started a lot earlier this time!

LostGeek · 02/09/2010 09:34

Hi YorkStar - lol yup I'm freezing at work even with a jumper. But no idea if it's a symptom or just the change in the seasons. Don't remember ever feeling this chilled to the bone in early September though. But as this is my first pregnancy, I have no idea what are symptoms and what's not.

Still no sickness....

tummytickler · 02/09/2010 09:56

I have been freezing too! For the first couple of days I was so hot i thought i might explode (and weather was bad!), but now i am freezing!
My Mum thinks I am coming down with something Grin

Yorkstar - hope work is going ok, and you are coping with your symptoms.

I can't stop weeing - it's driving me batty, and I am so, so, so tired!

How are you all dealing with the utter exhaustion?
It was such a relief when 3 dc's went to school this morning . Poor ds left at home is doing nothing fun today, I am too tired, so it is films, books and puzzles all the way until later!

crazybutterflylady · 02/09/2010 10:27

Hi all, wonder if I could gatecrash here? I just had 2 very faint lines and think I could be just under 4 weeks pregnant...eeek.

It's my first so am feeling a bit shocked and scared - don't want to tempt fate by getting too excited!

Blush
Purplebuns · 02/09/2010 10:41

Hi everyone, I am warmer than normal, at night especially.
Congratulations! crazybutterflylady
It is difficult isn't it, I have to really stop myself from loving my wee bean as I am too scared of how devastated I would be if it goes wrong. :( Anyway so far so good and there will be some huge sighs of relief when we reach twelve weeks all over the thread!
tummytickler your not horrid! I put Dd down for a nap and she has been quietly playing in her cot for 45 mins!Shock and instead of doing ANY housework I am on here instead Wink
I am also a frequent visitor to the toilet :(

I am concerned at how big my tummy is, I am not going to be able to keep it a secret at this rate at all, and I am worried I have more than one in there, although I hear your other symptoms are worse if it is a twin pregnancy and I am very normal in every other way.

I hope everyone is feeling well? I can't believe I have known for two weeks now it has gone so quickly!
