loopy thank you, although I do not practice religion, I do have beliefs. It's very comforting to know that I am in your thoughts esp. Sundays. Scan is at 2pm today. Have to go through most of the day like a bag of nerves. Feeling very sick this morning, pregnancy & nerves. Don't blame you for have an early evening nap after all of those shenanigans.

jbells hope you had a lovely, relaxing holiday.

Sarahjinx welcome and big congratulations. I did have itching in my first pregnancy but I was about 34 weeks. Have you booked in with your Midwife? If so, I would suggest asking her. Also you could post on the Pregnancy Boards - see if anyone has any experience of it there. I personally suffer with dry skin anyway, I think pregnancy can dry your skin out (although some suffer the opposite), I am slightly more itchy than normal, but the current weather doesn't help that. It's best for piece of mind to ask I think.

cowboylover where will you take DH for surprise meal? I love curry but currently not coping with it at the mo [sick emoticon]

I'll update later with some positive news - [shouts very loudly] I HOPE!

jbells · 15/10/2010 10:51

thanks MUMMYW- gudluck for your scan how exciting, hope everything goeswell, my holiday wasnt very relxing as i have DD 18 months and nothing is relaxing with her running round lol, i cant stomach anything saucy at the mo either i normally love curry but at the mo most things are making me feel sick :( i miss enjoying food

thell · 15/10/2010 11:12

I miss enjoying food too!
Bleurgh!!

sesamesmith · 15/10/2010 11:26

Just been to doc's as worried about pain in side and then last night in shoulder (eek, ectopic I thought). He was very reassuring and did a good examination. He thought the pain, which I've had as a stitch since week 4, is to do with bowels/guts, and not ectopic, although no guarantees. When he listened with the stethascope he said it was definitely more turbulent than expected and I have had a horrendous tum & ms all week... He also did a urine test and all fine, and told me to take it easy (little does he know!!!). Might be relevant, Qwerty. Hope yours isn't hassling you too much!

SarahJinx with you on all of that, itching and 24-7 nausea - it's hell. So tearful last night that decided a) I'm too old to be doing this (39) and b) I won't do it again! Perhaps it will all have been worth it in the end...?!

Reassuring to hear I'm not the only one being a wus and coming home from work early. Just gotta get through the next three weeks Hmm...

Bit worried about how/what to tell 14-year-old stepson, currently going through a 'me, me, me' phase - any ideas?

MummyWilliams · 15/10/2010 11:46

sesame don't be so hard on yourself. It is very tiring this first trimester business. It is hard, and I do understand how you feel that being 39 makes it harder because you are that bit older. But trust me when I say, I am just as tired (ok maybe a little more) as I was in my first pregnancy at 29. I too am 39 now. Just try to go with the flow (easy for me to say ha!), and keep in mind that you are nearly through this yuk bit. Doctors are useless when it comes to advice 'take it easy'. With my last pregnancy I had some terrible pains at 10 weeks I went to the doctors because I was terrified (due to previous MMC), she told me 'to pull myself together' Angry I too have a similar predicament of what to say to DSD aged 11, she is always me, me, me just like her mum (apparently). Other DSD (aged 19) I've never met, but feel sure she will be ok about it. I don't have any advice but think it will just be a case of coming right out with it, no pussy footing around and take it from there.I'm gonna let DP tell her. If your DSS or my DSD have an issue, just let them get on with it. I sound really harsh don't I. It's only because I just don't know what to do/say like you. Does DSS live with you?

jbells I know what you mean about not being able to fully relax with an 18mo running about. I remember those days. Did you go anywhere hot?

jbells · 15/10/2010 12:29

MummyW- we went to malta my dad and all his side of the family live there so was just visiting people mainly- i am xtremely scared of having a 25 month running round and a new born i was hard enuf first time round the first year was a nitemare as DD didnt sleep thru till 13 months really not looking forward to that agen keep telling myself it will just be hard for first 6 to 12 months and then things will get easier when they can play together i hope lol, my DP is being crap ad not in the least symapthetic this pregnancy either, i think because it wasnt planned hes got the attitude well u wanted it, im hoping it improves because hes not being helpful in the slightest i think sometimes they treat u as normal untill u actually look big, fat and pregnant :(

sesame- i can tell u that at 25 i am exhausted but i was exhausted pregnant at 23 to, now i have the added no rest with a toddler, we can all look forward to around 14 weeks when things get a lot better, i am having 24/ 7 nausea to thankfully not actually being sick, roll on second trimester hopefully u will start to feel better :)

MummyWilliams · 15/10/2010 13:26

jbells things tend to be different with the 2nd DC because it tends to just fall in line with your routine. I hope that makes sense. I think the transition from have no DC to the 1st is massive then from 1st DC to 2nd DC nowhere near as bad Grin My DD (1st DC) didn't sleep through the night til about 13 months like your DD. She had just got into the routine of sleeping properly, and I kicked her out of her cot to get her brother in it.

Anyway off for my scan now.

MummyWilliams · 15/10/2010 14:31

Hi! Ladies

jbells · 15/10/2010 14:53

mummyW- thats great news glad your scan went well :) how many weeks are you now did they give u an exact due date? its nice to hear from someone that adjusting to the 2nd DC isnt as hard as adjusting to the first, i did find it quite a shock to the system last time round how old are your DC's?

cowboylover · 15/10/2010 15:09

loopy I was bought up by my dad so im really enjoying the new opportunity that me becoming a Mum is bringing me so much closer to her x

Hi to sarahjinx and others with itching...I've not had it so far this time but when I wad pregnant with DS I came out in hives from about 14 weeks I recall...It seemed taht I was allergic to my own hormones. Nothing much eased it but I did take piriton which is the only anti-histamine that is safe during pregnancy as far as I can recall. I think it is worth getting checked out by GP but I think I was told that it is unlikely to be anything serious this early on in pregnancy

zinnia · 15/10/2010 15:52

MummyW v pleased to hear all OK this afternoon, thanks for letting us know!

Loopy sorry to hear you had such a bad night, any chance of an early one tonight do you reckon?

In utterly trival news from this neck of the woods, am going to a fancy drinks reception with DH tonight. Just a couple of hours but quite excited as it's our first night out together since conception day Blush (when dd was staying with grandma. Spot the connection!). Massive wardrobe crisis however due to rapidly expanding waistline :(

QwertyQueen · 15/10/2010 16:40

So what does everyone fancy for dinner tonight? All I want is jacket potatoe with baked beans and soft cheese hmmmm

thell · 15/10/2010 16:41

Ooh, Zinnia, have a lovely time!
I once managed to get away with wearing a skirt ridiculously high with the waist above the bump, but a longish top to hide it. Will that help??

MummyW hurrah! how exciting!! Those scans are such a milestone.

Well, it's certainly reassuring to hear that going from one child to two is not so bad! I'm certainly looking forward to feeling more like I know what I'm doing this time round. Just hope I'm not setting myself up for a fall :)

Rollercoasteryears · 15/10/2010 16:54

MummyW- great news! Phew.

Am also cheered by your and loopy's claims that a second child isn't that much harder - hope you're right!

jbells · 15/10/2010 17:32

loopy- thanks for advice at the mo DD goes to nursery on the 2 days a week when i am work i will prob carry her on there once im on mat leave so i can have a bit of a break just me and the baby, how old r your DC's

Thell- rollercoaster- glad im not the only one worried about going from one child to two

qwerty- i am feeling so sick again today dont know wot i can stomach for dinner :( something plain and boring, think DP wants curry ehhhh

cowboylover · 15/10/2010 17:37

Sounds nice Querty!

Single Dads are unusual but it worked really well for us and I think if he can cope with the facts of life and helping me through my first period, make up and hair sessions and boy dramas as a teenager I will be just fine with DH to help Grin

Me and DH are going to an engagement party tonight and im going to drive so they covers the not drinking but my bump it quite obvious now in my normal dressy up top so I have got a new floaty top from Evans earlier which fits well around my new awesome boobs Smile and hangs from there so I hope that will cover it. Also will I be able to keep myself from the buffet as little nibbles are rite up my street on the food front!

jbells · 15/10/2010 18:58

have fun tonite cowboylover, im not getting a bump yet just feel like my belly is getting fatter, i always seem to look like im just getting fat and putting on a few pounds b4 i look pregnant, i was 21 weeks b4 anyone in my work new last time and no one would have guessed, then i managed to put on 3-4 stone after that :S still had 10 pound to lose but obv that wont happen now altho im hoping this time round not to put on nearly 4 stone, so far at ten weeks i have put on a pound, i obsessively weigh myself and when pregnant i get worse

loopy- wow 3 under 3 u must have had the patience of a saint :)

Yorkstar · 16/10/2010 15:24

Very pleased to report that my scan this lunchtime went great. Baby measuring spot on for dates 12 + 3 today and was so wriggly it was difficult to get some pictures even turned and waved at one point! All low risk for downs and Edwards syndrome too. Am so so relieved. Placenta is anterior so may cushion movements a little.

So pleased for MummyWilliams and loopy too

sesamesmith · 16/10/2010 16:53

So pleased and jealous of all those successful scans! Long may the news continue!

Yippee, had 24 hours where didn't feel quite so sick. Somewhere in there is the old me!

Thanks, MummyWilliams and jbells, for your support. Spoke yesterday to my 39-year-old friend who is due 8th November (date of my scan @ nearly 13 weeks!). She put a bit of perspective on it and I felt like a total amateur up against her!

Just trying to get lots of rest, ha ha.

cowboylover · 16/10/2010 16:56

Glad the went well Yorkstar!

I had a great night out and found out my bessie mate in RL is expcecting 2 days before me and we are going to be in the same hospital so I cant believe we are going to be so close so now getting excited at being able to spend a year of maternity leave off together and having extra support with ante natal ect as both DH's work shifts Grin
