Munz - start rubbing on the Bio Oil now - it helps prevent stretch marks but if you do get them it can fade them really well too. Lol re CE - I am not getting any raunchy dreams recently
Friz - it was Spondon I was going to try - might take a trip to West Bridgford instead now...

munz · 25/09/2005 11:04

bio oil - can u get it from boots?

OP posts:
munz · 25/09/2005 11:10

just bought some off ebay, i'll start using it once it comes - hopefully I won't get strech marks then!

Don't know about Christopher Eccleston - I'm in love with Matthew MacFadyen and am off to the cinema on my own in a minute to watch Pride and Prejudice

I've given up fighting the stretch marks - I reckon if you're gonna get them, you're gonna get them. There are worse things in life, honest. Mind you, I had mine even before I had kids ( put on weight too quickly as a teenager ), so I'm pretty used to them by now. Probably if I'd never had them I'd be feeling the same way too.

desperatehousewife · 25/09/2005 16:47

I had loads of stretch marks last time round - looked like i'd been attacked by a tiger....ergh.

What is bio oil?

Jacks - I know what you mean about being emotional. I am crying all the time at the moment - it's really embarressing!

All ok everyone?

Frizbe · 25/09/2005 19:11

Aww DHW, {{{Hugs}}} and please don't let that make you blub! its the hormones hon xx
Bio Oil is available in Boots etc, its usually used to help scar tissue reapair, hence good for prevention of stretch marks! so although you will get some (unless your very lucky) it greatly reducess the appearance of them!
Jackstini you could try there again, the work clothes were fine, but didn't reckon much to owt else, all looked far to tent like for my reckoning....

Jackstini · 25/09/2005 20:19

Have tried in Notts today Friz but not much better. Did manage to get a 'shrug' type thing from Dorothy Perkins and & long black cardi from Next but was very uninspired - back to the internet!!

poppyh · 25/09/2005 21:25

Just bought a brand new maternity top on ebay, thats all ive found so far!!
Went to NCT sales on Sat and nearly got knocked down by lots of women with buggies!Never known it so busy.Mind you got a baby bouncy chair for a quid!!Bargain!!Hope you all had nice weekends!

Frizbe · 26/09/2005 08:43

Jackstini, damn! back to mothercare for me then, they had a denim skirt I quite liked the look of! n my sister in law has given me two tops and a pair of linen bottoms I can wear around the house! so just a few tops for the outside world req'd (still have a good shirt from last time) and I all ready have a nice pair of joggers....mmmm might need another pair of trousers.....my problem is I'm 5'8" and last time I got maternity wear off the web, it was too short in the leg! a lot of the co's cater for women with normal legs.....

desperatehousewife · 26/09/2005 08:46

Friz - I'm 5'11" and have same prob. I've managed to get a couple of things from Long Tall Sally - have a look at their website. A lovely jersey wrap dress that will grow with me (they don't do maternity wear, but they do bigger sizes so, I just went up a couple of sizes) also their pyjamas are amazing - so long that I'm sure I'm going to break my neck tripping down the stairs (think I may have to take them up - which is unheard of for me!!)

Frizbe · 26/09/2005 08:54

hmmm good idea there DHW I think they have a shop in Nottm as well, might pop in during the week if I get chance!

munz · 26/09/2005 10:42

morning girls - u r a tall lucky lot arn't u - i'm a short arse of all 5' and a fag end tall! lol - actually 156 cm how depressing i've not grown in like 5 years! lol.

maternity stuff - i've got a pair of jeans, and 3 skirts I got from other Mnetters - my logic is if I don't spend much I won't want to be in them after baby's been born, have also got 2 pairs of pre PG jeans which are OK. and still fit v comfortably, so will do for now and 2 pairs of traccky bottoms - if not there's always DH's stuff! and tops - well so far have 3 work shirts, and a pair of pre PG work trousers which i'm still holding up with a saftey pin - so few more months out of those babies - bargin at £3 in new look! lol. failing that it's long jumpers all pre PG, which so far are all ok as well - quite lucky really. althou am currently in the look fat in 'normal' clothes but frumpy and baggy in the maternity clothes - there's no winning! lol.

really must get to one of these NCT sales - any one know if there's any in west wales coming up?

OP posts:
Jackstini · 26/09/2005 10:49

Munz - I am that size too, we have same probs as DHW & Friz but in the other direction! All maternity clothes are made for 5'4 people.
I think if you go on NCT website you can look for your nearest branch and they will tell you about sales?

munz · 26/09/2005 10:55

yes it's just not fiar is it - and I don't know about u but the petit range is too bloody short for me to feel comfortable in - but the normal sized is too long in the leg - luckily I work in a manufacturing company and the factory girls take up the clothes for me. lol - althou new look do a size 30 inside leg, which are OK. (bit long but OK)

will look on the website. thanks.

RosiePosie · 26/09/2005 11:00

Speaking of maternity clothes, I got a couple of pairs of under the bump maternity jeans, which I've never tried before. It seems to be getting harder to buy anything maternity, which isn't under the bump. Anyhow, they are soooo uncomfortable! They just dig in and are horrible, so I need to go back to the drawing board and find some over the bump things. The under the bump style looks nicer, but when you're pg comfort is the most important thing, isn't it?

munz · 26/09/2005 11:07

well yes i'd say RP - i've put a piar of pre PG trousers on today- don't think i'll wear them again as they're a bit tight across the tum when I sit down - don't want to squash anything! lol.

looked on the NCT site - nearest one is in cardiff that's 2 hour drive away. so i'll wait for a closer one I think/ if I go to portsmouth as there seems to be loads that way.

chellebelle · 26/09/2005 11:58

RP - where did you get your under bump jeans from? Am gagging for some cause I'm really not comfy with stuff that comes up to my boobs

RosiePosie · 26/09/2005 16:58

I got them from Next, which isn't the greatest place for maternity gear, to be honest. The sizes come up really big. I'm a size 16, and wearing size 14 Next stuff.

Zephyrcat · 26/09/2005 17:05

Hiya - I'm wearing under the bump jeans from next and they are the oddest things ever!! THey are huge!!!!! I've got to wear them with a belt and the legs are so baggy lol I look ridiculous!!

Frizbe · 26/09/2005 17:06

friz makes mental note to not buy next under bump anything!

poppyh · 26/09/2005 17:28

Wish Id read this 5 mins ago, just bid on some next size 8 maternity jeans, and im normally a petite size 6!!
Oh well!!

oneofeach · 26/09/2005 17:52

Just read the messages about the jeans. I bought the next under the bump ones too, I thought they would look so nice but I am disappointed. I have to wear a belt to keep them up and the legs are just too baggy. I look like a builder in them. I think the problem is that until you have a proper bump and it is obvious you are pregnant (rather than just a bit fat which I how I look now), most maternity things look a bit dodgy but normal stuff is too small. I am trying to get by on minimum stuff as I know this will be the last one. I just hate having to wear stuff I don't feel good in.

Jackstini · 26/09/2005 18:25

Had exactly same problem with Next - they really overcompensate. Best advice is to go down a size lower than your normal - and you feel better/thinner then too!
Am getting on better with the 'material over bump' type. Is helping with the twinges I am feeling (ligament stretching?) just feel like my tummy is more supported

RosiePosie · 26/09/2005 18:35

I just got some jersey over the bump trousers from Next today, and they are so much more comfortable! They do look ridiculous when you're just wearing the trousers, but as long as you have a top on, no one's going to know! I'm definately out of jeans now until after the baby is born.

Zephyrcat · 26/09/2005 18:38

I might have to give in and get some over bump ones too even though i hate them!! They are more comfy and do feel more supportive.

Talking of support - has anyone tried one of those wedge shape pillows to go under your bump at night? I nearly bought one last year with ds as the spd was so bad but they are quite expensive. This time because i've still got such a huge belly it's already pullung over and feeling really uncomfortable at night so i wedge the quilt under it!! Just wonder if those pillows are worth it?
