Just bought this from local craft shoppe - daft or sweet?

www.notonthehighstreet.com/thechiccountryhome/product/noah_s_ark

Husband hiding in his study refusing to help me with crib. I feel like such a wuss not being able to cart and lift shit around like normal. Scared to with my weird alien bump on tummy.

SilverSky · 22/08/2010 17:42

Sheesh "strummer" should be strimmer! Strummer sounds v wrong!!

Medee · 22/08/2010 18:02

lovely, but £75!

Back from telling the family - all over the moon, both mothers said they never thought we would ever have children!

Bought my first maternity item - the bump bands in New Look, and very comfy they are too.

Backinthebox · 22/08/2010 18:35

Cos now is the time to put your phone to permanent answerphone with a message on that says something like 'No, I have not had it yet. I will let you know when I do!' to pre-empt all the phone calls you will get. I hated that.

Here's a thing for you - have you noticed how over on the preggo forum there are loads of people worried about fast labours? They'll be the ones who haven't had the luxury of a 42 hour labour then. Hmm, let me see - baybee falls out in 2 hours or is dragged out via the short cut after 42 hours of refusing to come out the normal way? Go on then, I'll give the 2 hour horror a go!

rollerbaby · 22/08/2010 18:54

Silver I did wonder... now I get it! Strop fully justified.

Med I know, but it is really really sweet and will look lovely on the little white company wall shelf I haven't bought yet... :) Mr Moo not that impressed either - his comment was "bit religious isn't it?"

box I studiously avoided contacting my friend before she went into labour last week. Only problem was so did everyone, so I think she was a bit like - where they fk is everyone??!!! I am already getting sick of the "you can't be long away now" to which I reply, "actually I've got 10 weeks and no it's not twins so fuck off".

Did my hypnobirthing CD earlier from the course yesterday. No idea if I actually heard any of it cos I fell asleep in about 4 minutes. Woke up and it was over. Really irritating american voice, but I suppose I will get used to it.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 22/08/2010 19:17

boxer Um... a 2 hour horror followed by sunroof wasn't exactly an "easy" option. Confused I'm no wimp but I told the consultant I was going to jump out of the window if it didn't get sorted...

Medee · 22/08/2010 19:30

I was in the White Company today - managed to resist buying tiny beautiful babygros.

rollerbaby · 22/08/2010 20:00

God I love everything in there. okie also sent link to Bob & Blossom which is lovely too.

OkieCokie · 22/08/2010 20:15

Come on Cos get on with it (really I should shut up)

I have this which is one of the cutest things as it looks fab with little coats and towels and cute things hanging on it. A bit pricey but every peg is used and well cuteness overrules price...

OkieCokie · 22/08/2010 20:19

Very cute Ark mooster. I have a poorly little boy and a poorly cat. Think it will be a sickie day off for me tomorrow to go to vet and doctors. Cat got in a fight and it is all manky now (they tend to do things like this just before we go on hols) and little okie has a temperature and won't eat or drink much and is refusing Calpol too.

rollerbaby · 22/08/2010 20:31

Oh dear... poor little okie. Wish him better... Maybe back to back In the Nightgarden might help? Sad

I love your peg rail and this www.thewhitecompany.com/productdetails.aspx?Id=1000884&ItemNo=PSVOH-02&SelectedItem=PSVOH-02

God I am supposed to be paying off credit card before baby comes. Wink

Backinthebox · 22/08/2010 22:58

Ski I'm talking about the lot who go 'ooh, one minute I was cutting the grass, next minute I had a baybee in the lavender patch and it was all over so quickly I feel deprived and shocked.' I think you were a bit different, but hey, I got the section and the SCBU and high dependency for me AND I got nearly 2 whole days of labour thrown in for free! Honestly - with the benefit of hindsight I'd have just asked them to slice me open straight away if I'd have known it was inevitable. Because I is stoopid I am going for round 2 naturally and hoping it might be just a bit quicker this time. I hope!

Silver I was slightly confused about the whole strummer thing too. OH has a tendency to practice his electric bass guitar and also his singing usually when I have just dropped off for a mid-afternoon kip. And then wonders why I am a bit grumpy. We have a tiny 2 bedroom house with one flimsy ancient door between his study and our bedroom. Now if he started up the STRIMMER, we have acres acres of outdoor space he could lose himself in and not bother my sleep. But that would set off his hay fever, so he does not play with toys like strimmers. Sadly.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 23/08/2010 05:58

boxer I totally agree with this "deprived" bollocks. Honestly, did they want a baby or a "birthing experience" ffs? Hmm I personally think it's a bunch of lentil-weaving pish and these poor women tie themselves up in knots because they didn't spend 2 hours in stage two in the aforementioned lavender patch. So much more to raising children than fanjo-squeezing. Or so I'm led to believe. I certainly don't feel cheated and I doubt you do either!

honey The ark is lovely - is it for you? Or for Hairymoo and the boy to chew & destroy? Grin

We got given some White Company stuff from a friend. It's lovely but it is very expensive for something which will only fit for a few months. Came in a pretty box though... Hmm

Cosmosis · 23/08/2010 10:03

no baybee yet.

Cosmosis · 23/08/2010 10:05

I live the white company, but am far too tight to actually buy anything from there as I am not to be trusted and will ruin anything nice v quickly.

OkieCokie · 23/08/2010 11:19

I totally agree re the white company stuff (clothes wise). I love them but would never buy it as it is so expensive, nice to receive as gifts though and for special occasion outings.

Cat just set me back the GDP of a small country - little fucker. Now trying to secure a cat sitter who doesn't mind administrating heaps of drucks to cat sit while we are on our mini break (can hardly ask the 70 year old neighbour who usually does the job with the quantity of drucks concerned). Mini C has been packed off to nursery - no call yet so must be doing OK.

SkaterGrrrrl · 23/08/2010 11:20

Hey all

Just checking in to say no SkaterBabe yet ? officially due on 1 Sept but having a lot of Brixton Hicks. Torn between wanting to have baby NOW and wanting to be able to attend my sisters wedding this weekend!

Glad all is well with BabyMeeds and due date is as expected!

I too am crying at the drop of a hat.

Your talk of watersports is repulsive, ski.

Cosmosis · 23/08/2010 11:24

yay, you have not queue jumped me yet skates!

SkaterGrrrrl · 23/08/2010 11:33

Not yet.. be funny if I beat VAG though ;)

Asking my doc tomorrow for a sweep on or just after EDD as I for various reasons dont want to be 2 weeks late (mum only in the country for a short time etc).

Muser · 23/08/2010 11:54

God. Why do I post in AIBU? I feel like I've been banging my head against a brick wall.

Ski n Box, the birth experience crap pisses me off somewhere. Someone on another thread was being made to feel bad for having an elective cs after an emergency last time, and not trying for a vbac to 'get the birth experience'.

How is a cs not a birth experience? How? Drives
me crazy. Personally I'll take any experience that ends in a baby. Preferably one with minimal damage to my fanjo. I am more scared of massive tearing than a cs.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 23/08/2010 12:05

muser Oh she's a cunt fo sho! :( I am somewhat exasperated that in all the time she's been off work, she's not once handed over the reins to her husband to see if he can do it. :( Cunt.

I have absolutely no desire for a VBAC. I'm more scared now of a vaginal birth than I ever was. :( I want an ELCS next time and if I'm lucky enough to get diffed again soon, hopefully I'll get it.

Mind you, apparently if you don't bf your baby you'll also not bond/experience.

OkieCokie · 23/08/2010 12:06

Which AIBU fred?? I could do with a bit of a distraction...

SkiHorseWonAWean · 23/08/2010 12:11

Being a career woman this will make you want to punch someone: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1026322-to-lie-to-work

Better be quick, she's asked for it to be pulled as she's shown herself up.

Muser · 23/08/2010 12:11

One called "to lie to work", it's the most annoying thread. I actually think she's fine to not want to go to the conference but don't understand why her first instinct is to lie.

My work is not the easiest place to be a parent, unsociable hours is part of the deal. But I can't even see them batting an eyelid if I said I couldn't go to an overnight conference because I was breastfeeding.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 23/08/2010 12:13

I'd hope that I'm very understanding as a boss and I realise that people have a life outside 9-5. I don't tolerate liars.
