Medee · 20/08/2010 10:39

Hello, I'm back! All went fine, we could see the heartbeat, it was having a good wriggle about, and all looks normal. Due date of 12 March, which is exactly what I calculated on the Mumsnet calculator. Feeling more relief than elation, but I think it will sink in, particularly when we tell family this weekend.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 20/08/2010 10:49

Aries My parents had a boat - I can sail. Wink Not so keen on watersports (ooer) unless it's water-skiing. 's a bit dull innit. Wink

Congratulations medee! :)

CluckyKate · 20/08/2010 11:04

Aww Meds that's brilliant news - really thrilled for you & your friend Smile

Off to look at house tomorrow.....are there any banks/building societies out there that will lend 4x joint income these days????

Backinthebox · 20/08/2010 11:19

Cluck sorry to be faffing yesterday. Hope your 20 mins with Little Miss 'I have a problem in my bottom' wasn't too arduous. OH was nearly fed his testicles when I got home after his comments on my housewifely abilities. Angry But did apologise this morning, so slightly let off.

Am waiting to hear news about the house - MrCluck must be keen - normally he is the one telling you to stop spending money you don't have Wink

Medee Congratulations! You're name will be on the next Not-List!

Someone stop me! I am on t'internet window shopping spree, as am too fat and knackered to do real shopping, and happened to come across a thread on MN about 'what to wear for the school run.' Confused Fuck me - isn't that what jodhpurs are for? Drop child off and go riding?

Just after writing that bit, someone did stop me. Short notice invite from ladies who lunch bitch from local hunt. We are going for a debrief on last night's hunt SGM - twas not pleasant!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 20/08/2010 11:37

But what will you weaaaaar ? I think you are allowed to wear Joules on the school run, however Pikeur is a no-go.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 20/08/2010 11:48

Ahhh ski - I enjoyed your post over on the unrealistic expectations thread - but it was a tough time and you are great to look back on it with humour! You have actually been amazing to get back on your horse (literally and in every sense) so fast! The whole just starting ML and move straight to baby - do not pass go, do not collect 200 pounds - must have been so hard. I hope I don't end up in the same boat - current plan being to work up to two weeks before EDD. Who knows?Sad

medee - so happy for you! And check out that spot-on date calculation. T'is brill. Enjoy telling family - it is a very special part :).

CluckyKate · 20/08/2010 12:47

If only he knew how much money I really spent eh Box. 20 mins was actually 10 as MrBox was home a bit early - easiest babysitting I've ever done as mini-box didn't even move from the bed and any mess & disruption was caused by my own little chick.

Will buzz yer to arrange catch-up over the weekend - I presume you is free.

Surely jodphurs are good for the school run, esp. with well-worn Dubarrys & leather hat ensemble - just be sure to not be accessorised with poo etc.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 20/08/2010 13:03

Tee hee at "snake that swallowed an egg" clucky - that was my plan as well. Not really working out for me though... I have noticed in the past few days that people suddenly seem to think that I am going to be giving birth very soon (I am 28 weeks) but I am choosing not to make any interpretation of why this might be...

Muser · 20/08/2010 14:37

Yay Medee! Awww, I am so thrilled.

Backinthebox · 20/08/2010 16:14

Hunt mess is a very big pile of doo-doo. I have asked for my subscription back and they did not flinch, just asked me to give them bank details so they could return my cash pronto. Bummer. Did not get to hunt all last season and was looking forward to spending this season galavanting to hounds - baybee was specially timed to fit between skiing and hunting seasons! Still it's all very sad though, because I have lots of friends there who are scattering to the 4 winds. Sad

FannyPriceless · 20/08/2010 18:30

I am back from lunch with the 'heavily pregnant'Hmm cossie. There is clearly an imposter in our midst, as she claims she is a 30-something woman due to have a baby in less than 48 hours. By appearances I would say she's 20-something and about 4 months gone. There she was looking effortlessly beautiful and fragrant, while I was all frumpy and red-faced in the heat.Envy

I dragged out lunch as long as possible in the hope of her starting contractions so I could report on the drama, but she just sat there serenely chatting and eating. And she only went to the loo once in 2.5 hours. Model pregnancy, blah blah. Lucky cahhh.Grin

Her interweb connection is currently down so she said we're not to panic not over the next few days. Knowing our luck she'll lay mini-cos over the weekend and be back next week to tell us about her little sneeze.Wink

SkiHorseWonAWean · 20/08/2010 18:57

Well... as she's not here to defend herself I can let you in on the secret that she gets up at 3am for hair, stage make-up and a team of 6 to haul her in to her Spanx! Grin

OkieCokie · 20/08/2010 20:53

medee great news! That is really brilliant. Enjoy telling the family!

FP glad the mini fesh meet went well. I knew cossie would be like that. I on the other hand turned up to see a friend this morning who has a little one 21 mths (2 days younger than mine) and a 7 week old. I was the hot and sweaty one (had just downed a starbucks so I blame that) while she seemed remarkably in control and calm. I hope to become like that.

Took the wee fella to see his first gig at the O2 today, In The Night Garden Live - he sat (still) for an hour, mouth open and mesmerised. It was £17.50 pp but worth every penny and I am considering taking him every day to get an hour of peace!

rollerbaby · 21/08/2010 11:07

okie that is money well spent. Note to self must buy full set of In the Night Garden DVDs.

Just had very first hypnobirthing class - as a one to one for this one as we are on hols for the start of the group. I absolutely loved her. Very calm, wise and not at all overly new agey. Just who you want to be talking to. I think Mr Moo found it really helpful as well, and probably slightly less intimidating not being with 4 other couples to begin with. We did lots of talking, went through the process of birth (with pictures) and relaxation exercises and stuff. Sounds like nothing, but coming out I feel totally serene!!! We've got homework in listening to the CD once a day and the affirmations as many times as possible (on ipod, in car, watching TV). Apparently it's like resetting your internal subconscious.

Feel a bit stupid telling people we are doing this in RL. I'm kind of getting to the point now, where I don't feel like telling anyone anything as otherwise you get a dose of advice which you don't really want. Particularly in relation to homebirth - brings out severely bizarre reactions in people.

Off to get pram today. No doubt it will take me 2 months to work the damn thing out.

Cosmosis · 21/08/2010 17:38

yay internets back!!

It was lovely to meet Fanny and the gorgeous gorgeous Clyde. He is a real charmer, not a peep out of him but he snuggled me very nicely!

No baybee signs yet.

Cosmosis · 21/08/2010 17:53

Oh and Fanny is not in the slightest bit frumpy and red faced, she is a beautiful BESH who seems exceedingly chilled and in control.

SilverSky · 21/08/2010 19:53

boxy what's the craic with the hunt ?

I was told today I am blooming with good skin. Fellow liveries obv did not notice the threeinches if make up I had on.

Ma famile are now saying baby is a girl and were dropping hints about names. A couple of them we already have on our maybe list so if we pick one of those going to have to put up with smarmy MIL thinking it was her doing.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 22/08/2010 06:41

silver Would you have preferred they'd said "err... are you working tonight?". Wink

cossie Wot? No wombling signs at all? This is worse than the 2WOOFL for us! Grin

SkiHorseWonAWean · 22/08/2010 07:45

I don't want to put the frights up any of you - but did want to say, take care in the first few weeks because your relationship with your partner will become strained - despite best intentions. :(

Jailbait and I have only previously argued about Margaret Thatcher and broccoli. Yesterday afternoon fuelled by tiredness and heat we argued about school uniforms (not Bear's I might add). Hmm For the first time in our relationship I found myself saying something along the lines of "well just leave if you want to".

You will fight, you will argue. Discuss and agree now that it will pass. It's shit and it's not because you don't love each other - but lack of sleep brings out the worst in us all.

Buy gin. Mama needs her cocktails.

Muser · 22/08/2010 11:17

Good tip Ski. Mine is a bit strained at times already due to me being a big bag of menkul hormones that nobody should have to deal with. I actually walked out last week, for reasons I still don't quite understand. not in a "I'm leaving" way, just in a "I'm not waiting for you to be ready, I'm going now" way. Luckily MrM is holding up and doing a lot of "this too will pass" chanting.

FannyPriceless · 22/08/2010 11:35

We were just talking about this yesterday. MrP said when things are getting strained one of needs to remind the other how tired we are. Then we understand and forgive and forget. You have to think 'he's not acting like this deliberately' and then it becomes ok.

Welcome back cossie. It wouldn't happen to be your actual due date today, would it? Grin

MrP has just done the most inexplicable thing. He has put on an old U2 CD (which we both hate - wtf??Confused) and then left it playing while he's gone out into the garden to play with Bonnie. I am stuck here feeding and pumping and can't turn it off.Angry Suitable punishment? Bono's twattery is driving me insane from here.

rollerbaby · 22/08/2010 11:42

There's an awful lot of counting to 10 in this house too ski. It does worry me a bit, as we do bicker about shit quite alot.

Yesterday I cried when:

we discovered that hairy moo had jumped on the bed and chewed a year's worth of Mr Moo's business receipts (he is in middle of doing accounts). I'm talking 100's of receipts. Cue major argument about WTF were they doing there anyway etc.

when I watched the zimbabwean girl sing on Xfactor last night. not the mercy girl I might add.

when I thought about my dog getting old

when we got our pram/car seat/crib home and realised his arrival is only 2 months away.

Mr M moo is a bit shit at housework and I have just rewashed oven pans which needed doing properly 4 days ago. What is it with men being completely incapable of just doing the washing up, wiping up and putting stuff away STRAIGHT after dinner? I swear to god this does not bode well for the baby arriving. You can't say, I'll do it later then can you?

Spending today trying to sort various things out round the house and hopefully start to put the crib up. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

OkieCokie · 22/08/2010 14:27

I cried twice yesterday too. Once when we had argument about BBQ at ours which I had relocated to the park much to Mr C's dissatisfaction. I balled "but I am 7 months pregnant and I am the one who ends up running after all your mates, can't you just support this one decision?" which he did and agreed it was a good decision...

Then ended up back here after the bbq in the park and made 5 hungry toddlers fishfingers and chips and ran about after everyone getting drinks to have Mr C comment that the chips are a bit greasy. FFS!! I could have slapped him. They were greasy but for fucks sake.... a 2 year old isn?t going to give a shit. Anyway, I got a lie in to 10.15 this morning and all is good with the world today.

SilverSky · 22/08/2010 15:24

We had a fall out this morning too. I nearly fell over and onto Him Indoors who at the time was trying to kick start his strummer. Cue much swearing from him at me. So I stropped off with him following me to the car. I refused to talk to him. I got a phone call about four hrs later. I completely forgot about the fall out til he apologised for being an arse. Not like I fell over on purpose. He was just stressed out and my pathetic trip was clearly badly timed!! Men eh?

Cosmosis · 22/08/2010 17:13

yes Fanny today is aktual due date. nothing doing.

We have have both given Artie a firm talking to and instructed it to come out soon!
