swits I have found that with back pain and an office based job that as soon as the back plays up get up and walk around. Little and often. I am starting preggo yoga next week. Should be hilarious. Esp as I got stuck in bed this morning and couldn't get out without assistance!

No B&H for me. Yet. Tho bet your bottom dollar it's a coming.

In other news, potential sharer is hacking out with another livery this 'avo. Will have a catch up with livery for the lowdown to see if she thinks sharer will be ok or not. Sharer is not novicey but is an absolutely lovely kind person. Figure I could mould her??!!! As long as nag doesn't take advantage of her.

ginhag · 10/08/2010 13:11

box ta, that is useful info. It seems to be the hospital policy rather than anything else that Won't Allow IT....but we'll see.

moo they are not saying I have to have cs, they want me to have a vbac. Just not in the nice, midwife-led suite with the pool n all. As they don't want the likes of me coming and messing up their great statistics :)

Anyway. Am looking at hippobirthing, independent midwifes, doulas n all...

And I am reminding myself what I learnt last time, that the birth is only a small part of actually Having a Child.

BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY COSSIE I seemed to miss that.

OkieCokie · 10/08/2010 13:18

Welcome back wits and yes, where has Reggie gone? No Braxton Hicks here but what you describe sounds like em.

Gin is the midwife led unit in the same hospital as the rest of it? Where I was last time one was on florr 4 and the other on floor 1 so easily transferable from MWLU to delivery suite if the proverbial shit hit the fan.

Vag sorry to hear about the Chalfonts and hope you get a cream for them/it soon and they clear up before birth.

OkieCokie · 10/08/2010 13:19

Oh and I just carried 2 dozen Kripy Kremes - I think I am going to die

PollyPoo · 10/08/2010 13:24

Boxy I'm glad your DD's hair was saved, tis far too pretty.

Gin I hope you manage to get the birth you want - stamping of feet seemed to work for Casp. I think like you say, it is more a question of not mucking up their statistics, which is bloody annoying. So much for pregnant wimminz getting more choice in their care huh?

Lovely present Cossie, I will have to drop anvil hints at TG for similar present next month. Oh hang on, he's already bought me an ipod docking station, buggeration! Maybe he will forget?

Who said about the bra thing? Was it Switty? I am also suffering incredible itchiness under bust. Bra gets discarded at home also, but even so, still get really hot and itchy (as tits now heading for knees). It is driving me nuts.

Well, I haz had 20 week scan and it appears the Shrimp is thriving, hoorah! Was getting annoyed and pissed off at people commenting how small I am, and given that midwife said at 16wk check that I was measuring small, it was starting to prey on my mind a little. Didn't want to find out what make it was, and I don't think we could have seen anyway, as it is a wriggly little bugger. I am Officially Out of De Nile. Grin

ginhag · 10/08/2010 13:31

woop woop poooooo. EXCELLENT news.

Okie is one hosp is a separate building, in the other it's just 4 rooms and a birthing pool. I have been told they won't want me in either, and yes it was specifically mentioned that this is for them not me Hmm

We'll see when I talk to consultant. And at the moment I feel so mental about the whole thing I go from lovely flowery hippobirth to fuck it just have another section in the course of about 5 mins. Que sera sera, at least I still seem to be pregnant :)

honeymoo poor you, I have no useful advice re pain but lots of sympathy.

OkieCokie · 10/08/2010 13:38

Polputkettleon that is great news and welcome to world post De Nile. Glad you didn;t find out flavour too, everyone can't understand why we didn't either - so I am not a freak afterall.

I have sweaty under boobs too and no bra just isn't an option even in safe confines of my own home. It smells too. I go through a bra a day in this clammy weather. I wash them of course - I don't just bin them!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 10/08/2010 13:41

Hurrah for the sweaty-boobed! I am not alone. Is is awful though, isn't it?

Muser · 10/08/2010 13:49

Fab news Pollynesia.

SkaterGrrrrl · 10/08/2010 14:05

I am starting to have Braxton Hicks for the first time (Im 37 weeks now). Quite relieved as I thought I had the world's laziest uterus. My tummy goes tight and there's a pain which repeats a few minutes later.

My friends threw me a baby shower at the weekend which was ace - cake, cava, bunting and very thoughtful presents (mostly home made). Wonderful buncha women, my mates :)

rollerbaby · 10/08/2010 14:07

Krispy Kremes! NOM NOM.

polliiieeeeeee well done on growing your baybee!!

gin those MWs are right pains in arses. Just storm in with your bubble bath and demand a waterbirth, ok? In all seriousness though, a doula might be a good idea - someone to be your guardian angel and make sure you get what you need when the time comes.

Sweaty boobs is bad I know. Am I filthy to not wash every day?

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 10/08/2010 14:12

HI ladies

Great news Poo!

Thanks for kind words re grapes - not quite as bad today but still need to man up and see GP for fingerpoking etc. Have taken to carrying moist TP with me everywhere in case of bowel movement anguish. Cheered self up by watching Sherlock last night while bouncing on ball.

Gin you could put the wind up them by declaring that you'll have the baby at home if they don't let you do it your way. This was the advice of the birth prep course teacher on Saturday when one of the preggos said her hospital had told her she would be unable to have a water birth because she was over 35. Shock Think it was Tommy's Hospital, London. I'm now rolling up my sleeves to argue my case when I get to that appt (2 weeks. Note to self: write birth plan. Also consider hospital bag requirements. )

Re: birth - we did the NCT class and another birth prep class, and I'm listening to my Natal Hippo CD, and I have come away thinking I would either like a fully natural birth or to cut (as it were) straight to CS, without trying any interventions. I really do not like the sound of the in-between stuff. Esp since it was driled into us that intervention leads to more intervention etc. And now due to grapes I have gone off the natural way too. I much prefer the method suggested to me in a dream last night, viz. baby appearing on my tummy without me being aware how she got out (no idea why, baby is often a girl in my dreams. Though she had no bones in her lower legs last night Confused)

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 10/08/2010 14:21

ps Baby showers sound lovely. My only objection is the thought that people feel obliged to bring a gift, then also buy somethign when baby arrives. Also, I'm antisocial and like to see one or two friends at a time rather than a group. (Hastily disguises feelings of Envy at lack of party)

Cho was it a chocolate cake that killed her? I need to know in case of future cake-carrying. If fairy cakes, is there a safe maximum number? If you have already eaten half, does that still technically count as carrying?

PollyPoo · 10/08/2010 14:46

VAG I reckon if you eat them, they don't count. Grin

Fanks all. I am finally feeling Pregnant and Excited and ready for nekkid dancing (any excuse to whip off bra). Woop woop!!

Okie we are not weird... I can't understand why anyone would want to know, but horses for courses innit? The surprise at the end is all part of the wonderfulness of it all, for me anyways. Oh my god I am actually going to lay a baybee!!!! (Hopefully not on xmas day tho.)

I'm still unsure on baby showers.... would go if a friend had one, but I kind of feel grabby organising my own iykwim. Obv, if a friend secretly arranged one I'd be delighted (think of all the CAKE!) but can't see it happening somehow.

Honey yes, you are filthy but I like it. Wink

I think perhaps I need some new bras (seeing as I currently have 4-boob-syndrome) and maybe that will help the itching.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 10/08/2010 14:58

I love not knowing the flavour of Clint - it's like his/her own little surprise for us and it's just delicious to keep guessing. Also I am curtailed in clothes-buying since there is far less non-gender stuff and it's often a bit naff.

rollerbaby · 10/08/2010 15:09

I WANNA BABYSHOWER!!!!

My friends are typically either outside of London (but still within M25 FGS!)or/and have children (and therefore too busy). I'm not arsed about presents but I would like a get together... trouble is, I'm too shy (yeah right) to organise it myself and there isn't an obvious ring leader to do it really. Oh well. Will sob into my very own family sized box of fairy cakes.

Backinthebox · 10/08/2010 15:38

I have no opinions on whether other people want to know or not know the sex of their baby. It's a matter of personal opinion, and that's what makes us all different. However, I did like a quote from my SIL - she said 'well, the fact that I had a baby in a cot beside me felt like a massive surprise the day I gave birth! I don't think not knowing the sex could possibly have made me feel any more surprised!' Grin

I would have liked to have been as certain with this one as we were with DD, but the 20 week scan we had was done by a lady in a hurry who didn't seem to be interested in whether we were interested, iyswim. The lady who did DD's 20 week scan was so sure, but this time round it was all a bit vague, and we ran out of budget for a private scan. So I hope the private 12 week scan we had is accurate - 70% chance of a boy. We have lots of blue stuff already, and no idea what to call a girl!

Backinthebox · 10/08/2010 15:38

However, da baybee will have to travel round in DD's old pink car seat for a while Blush

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 10/08/2010 16:05

I agree - such a personal thing, and one that makes not a whit of difference to anyone but the parents (or nosy relatives!)

I need some new bras - mine are now really starting to dig in. If I don't wear a bra my boobs lie on my bump like seals on a rock. I'm gorgeous, me Grin

Backinthebox · 10/08/2010 16:16

"like seals on a rock"

I love that image Grin

Cosmosis · 10/08/2010 16:33

I haven't felt any BHs so don't worry if you don't - apparently everyone gets them but not everyone feels them.

Quick random one; I'd love to keep bees and have thought that I could offer some space in a paddock to an experience beekeeper to keep a beehive there in exchange for learning. Completely out of the blue the local Tesco delivery man asked if I knew of anyone who'd like a hive in their garden next year as he was expanding his collection - he has 15 hives atm. I told him I would have it, not in the garden because of curious little fingers, but in the paddock if he was happy with that. He was more than happy, so in the Spring, I'll be getting bees! How fab. I'm already eating home reared pork and turkey, eggs, got chickens and ducks to cull so will be eating the boys and keeping the girls for next year's egglayers, and obviously got my courgettes! Grin I'll be practically self sufficient at this rate - I never intended to be but it seems to be going that way. I am so lazy when it comes to shopping too.....

rollerbaby · 10/08/2010 18:22

Seals on a rock!!!! Grin Grin Grin

Mine are like squashed seals on a rock.

SilverSky · 10/08/2010 18:38

Mine are like bloody cricket balls in socks on my bump. By the end of the day I have to get my Kit off especially the brazier cos by then it feels much like a bloody cheese wire cutting me in half. Who reckons I can get away with not buying any more bras???

We are off to see Toy Story later. Him Indoors is feeling like a comedy genius and asked me what time I wanted picking up. Dick.

Congrats PollyWho'sAPrettyBoyThen on the wriggly one. We too are not finding out the flava. Decided it would be more motivation when push
comes to shove. Literally.

boxerItsAGoodLife sounds idyllic. Very interested in the bees. What kind of ducks you got???

PollyPoo · 10/08/2010 18:40

Grin @ seals on a rock! Lovely imagery Vag!

Box great news about the bees, how exciting! I am Envy of your menagerie though.
