Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi all

Just a quick post to answer Squistle, I have a high anterior placenta and have been feeling movements since 14 weeks and now have proper kicks like all the time...BUT I have been told this is quite unusual as MOST women with anterior placentas don't feel proper movements til between 20-25 weeks so I honestly think it's fine that you haven't. I think the position (high/medium/low) also makes a difference.

Didn't want to make you feel worse about not feeling anything though, just to reassure you that it's normal...plus I think I feel so much because I literally do nothing all day apart from sit or laze around. Maybe you could try lying on sofa for a while and drinking ice cold water? Hope this helps

squistle · 31/07/2010 13:47

Thanks Aimee, apparently mine is 1 degree low lying so maybe it will take me a bit longer......... Off to lounge with cold water right now! Fingers crossed.

crazykat · 31/07/2010 13:56

I'm so tired today. Taking two toddlers to chester zoo yesterday is probably why.

Been trying to think of names for weeks. The only one we could agree on was for a boy. We're having a girl so we need to think again. It's harder as we've already got one of each so we've used our favorite names.

Got a pram yeaterday, a graco cleo which is a pushchair which converts into a pram. I'd have loved an icandy but it's well out of our price range. If I'd known there would be only a year between DD and DS I'd have got one first time round coz they can be converted into a twin. Never mind.

DuelingFanjo · 31/07/2010 17:47

I feel HUGE. I am probably not and I mustn't complain as I know I will get so much bigger but I just feel massive! I went to town to see some old school friends and was really self-concious. Walked home and am now knackered! I'm only halfway through!

CheeseandGherkins · 31/07/2010 19:33

Dueling It has been awful but I'm hoping the kids get through it and aren't too

damaged

Pjen Thank you. I really hope it does go well, but I still have options

regardless, that's what keeps me going when I'm worried about it all and what could

happen.

Laura welcome.

Whatwillsantabring Some days are worse than others! I've gone through things so

many times that I do have them clear in my head, which helps a lot. Agree with you

about the self-harming, I used to as well. It's so hard seeing her going through

that as I know how difficult it must be for her Good to hear about the stress

and I'm finally starting to put some weight back on, yay!!

franken I've been thinking about buying a few bits as time goes on but we need to

make some space for things first, the garage is full and the loft is pretty full too

at the moment. Glad the scan went well. I'll have a look at that website about

homebirth as I'm very interested in it.

maxpower thank you. Are you planning a VBAC at hospital or home? I really thought I was having a boy too, but it's a little girl! I was really surprised.

likethemapples Glad your scan went well. I've looked at those cots before and

they look really small to me, I think baby would outgrow it fairly quickly. I'm

planning to co-sleep and have a moses basket for downstairs at first, probably get a

cotbed at some point in the future though.

Miffster thank you. The time is going so fast, I'm sure winter will be here

before we all know it! Glad the scan went well and a boy! That's awful about dh's work, really not good at all. Where are you planning on moving to?

marlus glad your scan went well. How do you feel about having a c-section? It's

one of my fears. Hope you're feeling better now, same thing happened to me and I

also ended up at the hospital. I was getting painful contractions but thankfully

stopped too.

Slightlytired Thanks, I'm trying my best. I'm glad it comes over like I'm strong

as some days I feel a right mess inside. How did it go with the slapped cheek?

Hope you're ok.

strix good luck for the move, hope it goes well.

Chooster Totally agree with you on boys, I have two but I also love girls hehe.

I've also read the same in that the law can give too much access in cases where they

shouldn't. I'm just praying and hoping that the judge will see how badly this has

been affecting the children and how strongly they feel about not seeing him.

Gabriel is what a boy would have been and I'm hoping to get a chance to use it in

the future!

Kittybump Welcome. Glad the scan went well. My placenta is also anterior so

we'll see what happens at my scan next week ( I think it is).

mumatron I'm holding it together until this court hearing, I'm just hoping it goes well, I don't think I could cope with any more to deal with. My children are so muhc happier and brighter having had no contact with their "father" and we're just getting appointments through to help them deal with their emotions and mental health. I really hope the judge will see this and take it into account when making a ruling, until all the reports can be done for another hearing.

wholelottalove thanks, will keep everyone updated, still can't believe it's on Friday 13th!

squistle I have and have been feeling flutterings for many weeks now btu only in the past week or two actually had proper kicks and movements. I'm 19+2 today.

Had a lovely day today with dd and ds2, ds1 went out with nan and grandad to a museum and then treated to lunch, we ended up bumping into them when we were out! Hehe. Dd has been taken out by them last week and it's ds2's turn next week. Makes it easier for them to manage.

Bought dd some books in Waterstones and a few treats for them all in toys r us. Looking forward to a nice relaxing evening, fingers crossed!

maxpower · 31/07/2010 20:48

C&G sounds like you all had a lovely time today. Good luck again for the hearing.

I'll be having a hospital birth - I'm not brave enough to go for a home birth I'm afraid, plus I know from a friend who did have a hb that our local services don't exactly encourage them - and that's without a 'history'. I had a failed induction last time so at least I know what to expect with contractions etc so that does remove some of the fear of the unknown I had last time. I'm going to try to stay at home for as long as possible to minimise the monitoring and hopefully let things take as natural a course as possible. Totally terrified though!

Chooster · 31/07/2010 21:00

C&G - Friday 13th is lucky in our house - so hopefully a good omen for you too! My Mum and my DS2 were born on friday 13th

Squitle - I've got anterior placenta and only started feeling movements in the last week or so (am 22+2) and they are always either at the very bottom or the very top. I haven't had any of the visible movements yet that I had at this stage with my other pregnancies.

DF - I'm also huge - I feel just massive! can't see how I'm going to be in another 3 months! .

Had an exhausting day at the safari park today but had a brilliant time . The boys loved it and we stopped for a fab italian meal on the way home. Definately feet up time for me now .

Hope everyone is having good weeeknds!

KittyBump · 31/07/2010 21:05

Hi All -
In answer to Squistle I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and have an anterior placenta and like you say have not felt anything definite enough to say yep thats the baby and not just my dinner! DH loves to tell everyone the nice story of me saying 'oh the baby is moving!' very excited then about 10 minutes later saying oh actually it was diarrhea! at my scan the sonographer tried for ages to get the baby into a photogenic position but it jusn't wasn't having any of it - at one point it was pointing at its face then waving its hands across it so we couldn't see - I think it's a naughty one then at the end I asked her if the baby was moving enough and she scoffed loudly and said why do you think we've been having so much trouble getting good views again! So I said about not feeling much and she just said about the placenta cushioning the blows - we could see the baby moving but I couldn't feel it so in a very long nutshell I think it's normal to not feel much at this stage with an anterior placenta.
Max power - glad it's not just my cat I was beginning to think she was a bit nutty
Also, someone mentioned about buying a mamas and papas pram - just wanted to say i have heard bad stuff about their returns policy if things are faulty so might be worth looking into (I googled it as I had some maternity jeans which split right along the crotch seam on the day after I bought them - luckily i was getting into the car at the time so only flashed my pants at my mum and dad ) and as i dont live near a Ms & Ps I had a look at reviews to see if anyone else had had issues with the jeans but all I found was faulty pram stories and the fact they weren't very helpful if you had issues.
Sorry for such a mega post - I wait 20 weeks to join then you can't shut me up

Wholelottalove · 01/08/2010 22:31

KittyBump - my cat tries to curl up to me as well and did with pg number 1 too. In fact, one of the very first signs I was pg this time round was how weird he got. He also brought me in a present and he is v elderly. Last time round, he droped a live mouse at my feet when I was up typing on the computer at about 3 in the morning when I was about 38 weeks and had stopped sleeping. DH was awoken to me shrieking and thought my waters had gone or something!

DF and others who are feeling big, I feel the same way too. I got out the old bump pics today and looked at the dates. It seems I'm not that much bigger than I was with DD at 20 weeks, although I am a bit bigger. The end ones... well, erm, let's just say that when you think you can't possibly get any bigger you're probably about half the size you'll end up. Sorry, that's probably not v comforting! It's temporary is the best I can come up with.

frankenfanny · 02/08/2010 02:37

If you are wondering why I am up at this time of night it is cos we dropped the kids of to stay at their gran's for a few days and I haven't had them to tire me out (ok, and drinking a can of coke before bed might have something to do with it.)

I am feeling huge too, and very uncomfortable when sitting, but I know from experience like Wholelotta says, There is a lot more to come. I don't have serious bump until my boobs and stomach join up and I have no lap left. I could balance a dinner plate on it even with my 1st!

I don't have cats any more but did at my last birth. My DH told me that when I was in transition and mooing like a cow with each contraction, the cat joined in with the "singing".

I have had enough of baby names for now. Girls names are almost all lovely, it is so hard to choose, but I have narrowed it down to 10 with about 5 possible middle names and 5 boys names just in case.I'm going to revisit this nearer to December and see if I've completely changed my mind!

I hope everyone is getting some good rest and
dreaming about meeting their LO' soon, after seeing them on the scans.

Night night.x

squistle · 02/08/2010 07:24

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm 20+4 now so should only have a bit longer to wait . Time to carry one with tidying the house! lol

crazykat · 02/08/2010 07:53

I'm really scared. I fell on a step last night - I managed to twist so I landed on my side but fell quite hard. I felt loads of movement just after but I haven't felt anything definite since. I'm terrified I;ve done something to my little girl{sad}

SlightlyTired · 02/08/2010 08:31

crazykat, you poor thing - what a worry for you. I am sure everything is fine though - bubs is pretty well cushioned in there, particularly if you fell on your side. Can you ring your MW and get a scan booked in for today to put your mind at rest? They're usually pretty good about things like that.

crazykat · 02/08/2010 08:42

I'm going to phone soon as the doctors are open, even just hearing the heartbeat will make me feel so much better. I'm trying not to freak out too much.

SlightlyTired · 02/08/2010 08:51

Good idea. Make sure they give you an early appointment - don't take no for an answer! You don't need the stress of waiting around right now.

GreenGeekGirl · 02/08/2010 09:32

Thinking of you crazykat - let us know how it goes. I had a scare a couple of days ago too. Started vomiting in the evening, woke up with a rash the next morning and then LO was still all day! So worried but called midwife who said the being sick was nothing to be worried about, the rash was just burst blood vessels from retching (nice) and then felt wriggling while on the phone to her, so everything was ok. very worried at the time though!

Move was very frustrating but too angry to talk about it right now. At least it's over!

I am another anterior placenta squistle but unusually I also had very early movement. Hope you get to feel some wriggling soon!

Chooster · 02/08/2010 09:38

Poor you Crazycat - they do have lots of protection though and it will all be fine - but like you say for peace of mind it will help to hear the heartbeat or see her on a scan. Let us know how you get on.

notso · 02/08/2010 10:50

Hello, been to PIL caravan with DC'c, my Mum and sister, had a nice but wet time!

Missed loads here I see, congrats on all lovely scan news.

20 week scan on Weds although technically I'll be 19+6, can't wait, not finding out the sex I think I have no preference, I do keep thinking of a girl though. Names are still undecided I have definate ideas, DH doesn't seem to like any of them though, and the DC keep sticking their oars in!

C&G sorry you and your DC are having to go through this, glad you are managing to stay strong and really hope all goes well.

crazykat hope you are both ok.

Franken didn't know you were on here, do you remember me from JSing thread?

Will be back later to post but DD is giving me the evil eye as I said she can go on Moshi monsters!

marlus · 02/08/2010 12:18

hi all,

thanks for the good wishes - the cramps have stopped now that I've taken the antibiotics for a few days, even though the hospital tests apparently showed I didn't have an urinary infection after all. Not sure how that works, but it definitely wasn't premature labour either

crazycat I hope everything turns out to be fine! For what it's worth, I have lots of quiet days with no movement whatsoever...

C&G I am trying to just accept what comes (c-section or natural birth) but every time I have geared myself up for one (e.g. c-section wouldn't be so bad) I get told the other one is more likely. Have stopped thinking about it for the time being, because they can't give me a definite answer until after 30 weeks anyway.

GGG congratulations on having moved into what sounds like a lovely new house, and well done getting through it!

crazykat · 02/08/2010 12:31

Thanks for the support. Went to see the midwife and listened to the heartbeat which is good and strong. I'm so relieved. I've got to rest as much as possible for the next few days and watch for any bleeding, feel 1000 times better after hearing the heartbeat though.

marlus I'm glad you're feeling better. It's scary when things like that happen.

GGG sorry your move was stressful, I don't envy you moving while pg, it's bad enough normally.

C&G Glad you're back I've been wondering how you've been. Hopefully the judge will see that your DC's are better off with as little contact as possible. Good luck with the hearing.

SlightlyTired · 02/08/2010 13:24

Good news crazykat.

Chooster · 02/08/2010 14:16

Great Crazykat! Good to hear you are more relaxed about it now. Make sure you put your feet up as much as you can.

Strix · 02/08/2010 16:53

Hello everyone. Gald all is well, Crazykat. It's so hard worrying about something you can't see.

I haven't had my anomaly scan yet. August 13th seems ages away. But, I shall have to try and be patient.

We are debating over boy names. WE have a first name we both like. But it doesn't really go with the middle name, so one of them has to go... or I have to give up my rule about second name not rhyming with first name. DH just want a decision and is getting a bit fed up with me. But, I want the perfect name even if it means six months of constructive debate.

We are getting a new au pair in August. i hate looking for them because it is so much work and such a big decision. But, i think we have found a lovely girl. She has accepted my offer. So I am breathing a big sigh of relief. That's one crisis off my list. Now I need to get our lease signed so I know I have a place to live.

This pregnancy just seems to be one major crisis after another: first the nuchal/CVS, then new au pair, then unplanned house move... fingers crossed that I can relax for the second half.

Hope everyone else is well.

DuelingFanjo · 02/08/2010 19:12

crazykat am pleased to hear things are ok

I feel strange, I just had a friend round and she asked me stuff like 'are you counting the kicks' and it just never occured to me to do so. I have had such a journey to get pregnant in the first place and with all the nuchal and amnio stuff I think just kind of want to enjoy the pregnancy without worrying, but wonder if I am just being too laid back!?

I have also started getting my house in order at work, catching up on all the bits and bobs I have ignored over the last few years. I need to do it now while I am still quite mobile as it means shifting books around. managed quite a productive day today so am pleased with myself.

Wholelottalove · 02/08/2010 19:26

crazykat glad all ok, must've been a worry for you.

DF - I've never counted kicks, just keep a sort of vague mental watch. I think in the past they used to give you kick charts to record movements, but not really until a bit later on. I think you can relax and enjoy the pg and try not to let people stress you out

That's cool people have some names. We've only got a couple so far. Mentionned them to a few relatives and got a few negative reactions (they are really not 'out there' names, just seems if a relative once knew someone they didn't like by the same name, they think they should have the power of veto ) so we are keeping them quiet now.

Scan tomorrow morning and I've got the day off as well. Really looking forward to it.
