well, it was a good night out but boy, am I suffering for it today. Very tired and very puffy hands and feet .

I've decided to give a 3yr olds birthday party a miss (have packed DH off with gifts in tow, really couldn't have handled it), but we have a friend coming over later and I need to cook a sunday dinner. He's having a pretty bad time at the moment as his 12yr old daughter has been atttacked by their dog due to jealousy over a new baby in the house. They'd had the dog 3 years and it just turned on her as she kissed it goodnight, leaving her with 30 stitches in her face and a bit of her lip missing . He's now had to come back to the UK to work and leave her to go back to school in Germany. I think dinner and sympathy is the least we can do.

Glad you're feeling better rodeo, just don't do what I did and overdo it!

Well done Enthusia on posting the picture, I really must learn how to do that, and I'm up for a picture share group if it happens.

Enthusia · 11/09/2005 16:52

ChaCha - Have sent another email, try that one!!!

Nova - that is horrible for your friend, did they have to get rid of the dog? Will there be much scarring - I am sure dinner will be much appreciated!!!!

Right off to ebay

Byyeee

goldenoldie · 11/09/2005 17:40

Nova - that poor girl, it must be dreadful for the parents too.

Just had a nice roast beef lunch - always tastes better when you don't have to cook it yourself!

novadandypowder · 11/09/2005 21:43

His daughter doesn't want to get rid of the dog, so they're keeping it for the time being. They're just being very very careful.

KristinaM · 12/09/2005 03:42

Hi all - suffering from pregnancy insomnia as you can see! Thanks for posting the photo Enthusia - you all look so well! And young and pretty of courseGoldenoldie you will need to change your name as you look about 30! Sorry I wont be able to get to any of the meet ups but I am hundreds of miles away .

Nova - is your friends daughter OK? I have to say i would definitely not keep a dog who had savaged one of my kids, however much the child wanted it. She shouldnt have the responsibility of making the decision to keep it / let it go. You cant watch a dog 24/7, especially with a baby around. I was bitten by our family dog when I was 2 years old, but it wasnt so bad and only on the leg. 30 stiches on the face sounds terrible i suspect she will be scarred for life

I am very impressed by you all having nights out. basically i am so tired by the evening I am only fit for bed. DS1 is 15 months now and still wakes during the night.I have finally given up Bf him so Dh gets up and gives him a bottle ( he wont take a bottle from me).

Also impressed by the hospital bag packing - we have done nothing to prepare for the new baby except look at double buggies and MPVs ( cant get 3 seats in the car we have). As we already have clothes/crib/car seat from DS1 I suppose we only need nappies and new teats. And the dreaded mountain of night time towels ( oh yuck yuck yuck gross out emoticon)

On more cheerful note, baby is very wriggly which i find reassuring (most of the time). He still doenst have a name. Dh thinks we will " just know" after he is born. i have pointed out that this didnt work last time......

goldenoldie · 12/09/2005 08:20

Thanks Kristina - I feel about 80 at the moment.

My mind is whirring away - yes, yes, yes, - so many things to plan/do, but my body just say's no, no, no, - you can't do that extra flight of stairs, you can't carry that extra bag, you can't even think about long distance travel.............................

Londoner · 12/09/2005 10:03

Hi everyone,

Been feeling pretty poor/weird last 4/5 days so haven't been on here. Sorry to have missed so much! Am really glad to hear your lunch went so well, and would love to meet up on 30th September with the rest of you, yay!(Could manage London venue, but not outer London as don't drive ) Photo of your meet up is brilliant, how amazing to see some of you, and all smiling too .
bob , if I may call you that? Yes I do live in Greenwich, so very near to quite a few other members, although I have to confess I'm having real trouble remembering details of who lives where or said what or much anything else these days!
SharonTW1(does that stand for Twickenham?), can really relate to your post asking about insomnia, I wake up a lot and once awake at @ 4/5 am find I don't always get back to sleep, brain too busy! I just try & go to bed early, how about you?
ChaCha , good luck at the hospital with your blood test , and at the dentist - you will come back with a smile like this .
Enthusia thanks for the IKEA tip off, I need a new cot matress, wonder if they are in the sale, hmm...
rodeo1 sorry to hear you're feeling croc, hope you feel better really soon . oh, just seen your Sunday post saying you feel much better, yay!
tessasmum enjoyed your funny post, and you're going camping, good going, remember your portable potty for night-time! (Proved completely invaluable at Glastonbury, Cornbury and friends birthday camping weekend for me this summer.....!).
pinkminx79 yes! Get those same weird squirmy/squishy sensations you describe, also jabby little elbows and fiddly fingers.
nova, v.impressed by stories of your wild night out, makes me feel a little tired just thinking about it! Sympathy to your friend's daughter, how devastating. I think your supportive meal is a lovely idea.
Kristina sorry to hear you're feeling so wiped out but well done with bringing the BF to an end, it's no easy task is it, and once you decide you've had enough it really is too much to continue isn't it? I imagine your hormones are readjusting themselves to this change which could be adding to your tiredness? BTW, we just had to get different car to accommodate another child too, needing a total of 6 seats now, got 2nd hand red Fiat Ulysee (sp?) c.1997 with no added extras, WOOOOEEEEEE, look out Postman Pat! What d'you think you'll get? There's so much choice out there now isn't there!
goldenoldie, have the same trouble as you with the whirring mind/ body can't oblige syndrome, I think it's probably good practice for when looking after baby while thinking about all the things that need doing..... like a sort of marathon patience rehearsal!
Well, must go and get shopping in now, groan, I really ought to learn how to drive one of these days, shopping is v.heavy when this pregnant (although v.good for upper arms!).

Busyalexsmummy · 12/09/2005 10:31

Hi all, have had a really busy weekend this week, sunday we went to the cheese show, which was a laugh, havent been in about 5 yrs and it was still as good as i remember, alex really enjoyed it as he got to stroke the sheep/goats/cows and see the horses, fire engines and everything else!
My maternity grant was in the bank sat, and then on sunday morning we got a phone call about dp's scooter he has had sat in the garage for the last 3 yrs doing nothing, and the bloke came over sun morning saw it, was pleased and bought it on the spot for £340 in cash-an absolute bargain as its a very new bike with hardly any mileage, but were glad as we just wanted it gone!

So sun afternoon we went to focus and bought a massive shed and all the bits except the paint to do alexs room again ready for winter/new baby and then I ordered the double buggy aswell-went for the cossatto duet lite in the end as i prefer the colours etc and think it looks nicer than the marco and I managed to find it for £139 rather than the £159 as Ive seen it originally!

Also went to tescos and picked up a few bits for my hossie bag, and some newborn nappies.

My ebay addiction is returning-managed to refrain for ages but there are so many bargains on there at the moment!!

Liz 30+2

goldenoldie · 12/09/2005 10:32

Londoner - sorry you have not been feeling too well. Will be good to meet you at the next Ldn meet-up.

Can you get your shopping delivered - Ocado are great.

Londoner · 12/09/2005 10:44

bam STOP! You're wearing me out! Where do you get your energy from . Good going though, you got so much done! Glad to hear your Mat. Grant safely in the bank and bike sold, must be really satisfying to cross those things off your list and get some cash coming in.
goldenoldie, thanks for your post, and I'm looking forward to that meet up too. Got my shopping delivered once during the first week of school Summer holidays but haven't tried again since, I know it's a good thing but I am so fearfully independent! Didn't like the passive role of waiting for the delivery before I could eat, go out, etc...! What am I like eh, my own worst enemy !

SharonTW1 · 12/09/2005 13:06

Hi enryone, feeling good today actually slept all night last night (when I finally slept ) but what a difference I feel today, was getting so worn out, hope I can again tonight.
Londoner I've been finding that I get to sleep then wake up and get can't back over, get annoyed with myself which doesn't help.
Still ish I was at home curled up all day but at least I've done some work today.
Starting yoga tonight too so that may also help x

ChaCha · 12/09/2005 13:53

Afternoon everyone,

Sharon - likewise! I had a fantastic sleep last night, only up a couple of times and slept like a log. I find that if i'm REALLy tired I'll sleep much better - consequently I busy myself more now in the evenings to ensure i go out like a light and have good night's sleep.

Londoner - Hope you are now feeling better. I have quite a few days like that but thankfully have been okay since last week. I find that i can't stay in the same position for too long and I still get 'sicky' feelings when least expected.

Congrats on the extra income Busy. I am down to my last wage and hoping that the SMP is in soon. I can't believe as a childless working woman I spent so much on clothes, bags and toiletries!!!! Why couldn't i be as frugal as i am now when i was working?!?

Hello's to everyone else, hope you've all got some of this sun and catch up later.
Off to dentist

goldenoldie · 12/09/2005 15:27

Don't want to make you all feel envious - but had to let you know that I am working my way through a bumper bag of Percy Pigs and Friends while watching Portland Babies.

Mmmmmmmmm, my favourites are the cows.

babyonboard · 12/09/2005 15:56

hi everyone...
just wondering what day of the week the next llondon meet up is?
sympathies to those not feeling well or sleeping badly!
If any of you don't know boots are giving out a five pund skincare voucher when you spend five pounds..so I just went and bought some baby bits in three loads and got three vouchers! treated myself to some lovely botanics goodies for my hospital bag.
It's well worth a trip if you need some stuff..but i think the offer ends tomorrow.
Then because i felt so good about my bargains I went to mothercare and went a bit crazy buying baby clothes! ooh nooo
I also bought this on ebay..so cute!
nova- thanks for the roast potato tips..i finally made some decent ones last night! hooray!
How many of you guys are still at work? I can't imagine having the energy myself...

goldenoldie · 12/09/2005 16:00

Baby - next Ldn meet is on a Friday.

rodeo1 · 12/09/2005 17:53

Hi everyone!

Where has this heat come from?? It's boiling!

The meet-up picture is brill! Only just seen it, it's lovely to put faces to names!! And I'll be able to convince dp that you're not all axe-wielding murderous psycho's!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed about coming on the 30th, I'll let you know a bit nearer to the date if that's ok.

What are these Percy Pigs? Are they sweet or savoury May have to take a trip to M&S Food Hall especially for them if they're that good!!

Nova, how was your friend yesterday, how awful for him and for the girl. I got bitten by a dog on my way to Brownies when I was about 9. The police had to come and see me and the dog got put to sleep but I felt so sad and guilty about it. It was horrible

Right I'd better pull those children in from the garden, it's still lovely and warm out there. Joe's spent all afternoon on a bouncy castle at a little friends house so I'm guessing he'll be straight off tonight...yay!!

Londoner, sorry to hear you've been out of sorts, hope you're feeling a bit better

Got a growth scan tomorrow afternoon and I'm going to attempt to sort through old baby clothes in the morning so wish me luck!!

32+5 x x x

Rodeo - Just looking at that 32+5 and gulping! That's another few weeks for me yet - time has just flown by, it's amazing! Are your little ones even more excited now as the big day gets nearer?

Nova - I'm sorry to hear about your friend's little gir (Thought i'd mentioned that earlier on but obviously didn't - duh) Hope that your friend was okay and not to distressed.

BoB - Good for you! Is always good to treat yourself. When is your MIL staying? Are you prepared?

Well my news is.....went to the dentist and got my teeth polished and they are definitely looking good if i do say so myself. Had noticed a few changes since being PG and they look much cleaner/whiter now. Have another 15min clean next month. Didn't make it the hospital for bloods...em....was too much for me in one day

Best news of the day - got a travel system!!! Totally unexpected, DH dragged me into pram centre on return from dentist and there was a Jane 'C' with Matrix whatever reduced by £110!!! whopeeee....is that what you got Enthusia?

Dinner must go x

novadandypowder · 12/09/2005 18:47

Evenin' all.

Bump is growing at a shocking rate at the moment, had a look at some pictures that we've been taking during the pregnancy and I can't believe the difference. Had fun playing with bump last night, pretty sure I felt a foot, and found some really hard bits that I think was baby's body. DH thinks I'm weird because I'll sit there laughing to myself, but it's because I can feel baby scrabbling around.

Rodeo, I had to give DH the names and numbers of everyone I was meeting from MN as he's suspects you're all axe murderers .

Chacha, Our friend is in a bit of a mess with his life anyway, long story and quite sad. I always feel better knowing that we've packed him off with a full stomach though, he doesn't get to look after himself very well.

Rodeo, Percy Pigs are sweets from M&S in the shape of pigs faces, and if you get them 'with pals' you get cola flavoured cows and orange flavoured sheep. They are made with fruit juices so I always fool myself that they're better for me than haribo and the like.

Londoner, I have days when I feel like I could just weep and go crazy, but manage to distract myself enough to keep it together. Yesterday was bad as I was so tired from being out til 3am, but I just went back to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon and that sorted me out.

Looks like I'm going to have to give up the knitting ambitions, my hands and feet are continually puffy now, and my fingers get a bit stiff and sore.

rodeo1 · 12/09/2005 19:23

Well they're in bed and fast asleep by the sounds of it. Good job too, I'm knackered!!

Just popped on the TV and 'Bring your Husband to Heel' is on BBC2, which should really be called 'Treat/Train your husband like a dog'!! It's quite funny actually, not sure dp would enjoy it!

Chacha, you're gulping?! I'm gulping, woman!! It has really really flown so fast

Nova, sorry to hear your giving your knitting needles a rest for the time being. Had to smile though, as it reminded me my Mum and Dad. When they were expecting me they both took up knitting and they both attempted to knit me a white cardigan. Mum managed, but my dads got tighter and tighter and greyer and greyer so had to be abandoned Haha!! He was also a heavy smoker so I expect it got rather yellow too, Yuk! Thanks Dad!

BTW, well done with your travel system Chacha!! I'll be so relieved when I've got everything!

OP posts:
ChaCha · 12/09/2005 19:29

Have you all filled up your cars then?
Have just spent at least 30 minutes at the petrol station, longest queue ever!! Pooooh.

novadandypowder · 12/09/2005 19:32

DH did actually fill up the car yesterday, but we have a very small local garage that no-one really knows about so no q's yet.

goldenoldie · 12/09/2005 19:51

What que? No que for petrol in this part of London.............

BEKsmum · 12/09/2005 19:58

Evening girls, cor go away for the weekend and you need a week to catch up on all the news.

Nova sorry to hear about your friends little girl, how awful, you just can't imagine your own dog doing that can you.

The picture from the meet up was great, nice to put faces to names. I'm afraid I can't do the 30th either as Ben is at school on a Friday afternoon. Also don't forget being a true south londoner I get the shakes if I have to cross the water !!!, will look forward to hearing all the gossip from it though!

Bob move to Bromley it's a not a bad place really and the schools are alright, one of the best is Raglan which is where I'm hoping Ben will go, they also have a nursery too which is excellent, but unfortunately doesn't guarantee them a place at the school.

I didn't realise so many of us lived so close together we'll definitely have to organise that local meet up.

We had a nice w/end in Wales, we left straight after school on Friday and got back at 9:30 last night. I decided to do the drive home in one as Ben was sleeping, but bump has made me pay for that today, I think it's trying to find the emergency exit at the moment I just hope it doesn't spot the light!!!

Ben loved being with his cousins and we went to the Usk show where he got to see lots of country stuff that he doesn't get to see too often here. I've got to say I've never seen just bloody big cows, little local farms obviously have little cows 'cos these were sodding enormous. Ben got to stroke a calf though which was very sweet.

Managed to get myself a little case for £6.99 in Lilywhites today, so that sorts out my hospital bag dillema. Although was really irritated when I went into Mothercare to buy last bits only to be told that I couldn't use my old account card as they had sent me a new one - needless to say i hadn't put it in my purse so I had to leave an overflowing basket of stuff at the counter - grrrrr

Right better go, hope everyone is doing ok and those that are feeling a bit poorly feel better soon. Speak to you all later Beks (31+1)
