I'd be coming on my own Enthusia although not sure if I'd make it to Surrey! So how many of you were there yesterday? And how are these piccies coming along?

Good morning ladies,

Thank you BoB and Nova for trying to accommodate me for next meet up - I am really touched
Arrange your meet up as per norm and if i can make it, I will, If not i'll just have to invite you all here or to nearby venue. As with every Ramadan there is much preparation and invites as well as guests throughout the month. I need to have done most of what i need to do for baby's arrival this month so that i can just concentrate on all that's to come in October.

BoB - Did you sleep better last night? I was so tired (we had surprise guests) that I just crashed as my head hit the pillow. Was best nights sleep i had in ages.

Enthusia - Trip to Ikea it is then.

Have a very good weekend all.

goldenoldie · 10/09/2005 12:07

Enthusia - good point. Who wants to bring kids along? What about having an outside Ldn meet and a London meet on seperate days?

I'm happy to try and set up another Ldn meet - do you/anyone else fancy trying to set up an outside Ldn meet?

Those London based and too fat/tired to travel (me!) can meet with other Ldn mumsnetters (pref. at same place - yum!. I know JemJam and LilJ are north Ldn like me too so this location is easy for us.

Those based outside/outskirts of Ldn can meet up at a more convienient place, and those with the energy can go to both!

If we avoid the half-term week, my ds will be at school, so I will be coming alone.

Anyone want to bring tots? Tessasmum? Becs?

goldenoldie · 10/09/2005 12:08

Rodeo - hope you feel better soon. Can you keep anything down - dry toast?

novadandypowder · 10/09/2005 12:40

Twinkle, I assume you're talking about state MA? I gave my forms in on a tuesday, got an extra form to fill in by post on thursday, sent that off on the friday and got the acceptance letter a week later, with backdated payments starting the friday after that. Not sure how it works if you're still working though, but they were pretty efficient with mine.

We had bacon sarnies as well this morning - must be a saturday thing.

Rodeo, boo to feeling poorly , but yay to having a laptop in bed .

Looking forward to my last night out clubbing tonight before baby arrives. I've had to borrow an outfit from a friend and buy a new pair of flat shoes a size bigger than normal, but other than that it's all looking good.

novadandypowder · 10/09/2005 12:42

Chacha, do you mind me asking what Ramadan involves? Just curious as I don't know that much about your faith - hope that doesn't sound rude?

ChaCha · 10/09/2005 13:06

Hi Nova. On the contrary, I'm glad you asked, I'd like to share it with you.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Lunar calendar and it begins with the sighting of the new moon after which all physically mature and healthy Muslims are obliged to abstain from all food, drink, gum chewing, any kind of tobacco use, and any kind of sexual contact between dawn and sunset. However, that is merely the physical component of the fast; the spiritual aspects of the fast include refraining from gossiping, lying, slandering and all traits of bad character.
The month of Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, doing good deeds and spending time with family and friends. The fasting is intended to help teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint and generosity. It also reminds them of the suffering of the poor, who may rarely get to eat well. It is common to have one meal (known as the Suhoor), just before sunrise and another (known as the Iftar), directly after sunset. Because Ramadan is a time to spend with friends and family, the fast will often be broken by different Muslim families coming together to share in an evening meal. As both DH and I have non-Muslim families we tend to invite friends or go out for the evening meal. Ramadan then comes to an end with a celebration called 'Eid' that last for a few days. HTH and thanks for taking an interest

Enjoy your last night out! I don't know how you do it...i'm tired thinking of our trip to the pram shop later...yawn!

tessasmum · 10/09/2005 15:06

Really sorry we couldn't make it yesterday, it sounds great and would be lovely to put faces to nick-names. Tessa was much better, it was a 24 hour thing in the end, but I wasn't prepared to risk her redecorating Wagamammas or Midland Mainline

Would love to try and get there in a month's time (with Tessa), have a midwife's appointment that day but we are the first ones in at 10.30am so should have plenty of time to make it into London after that. I'm also happy to host/organise an out of London meet though not sure how far people are away from Luton. The Nandos here is very child friendly (I know of no-where else that doesn't bat an eyelid when we turn up with 7 adults, 6 toddlers and 3 babies!!)

Still very impressed at all this hospital bag organisation, it has made me think that it might be an idea to take more than just my antenatal notes when we go away next week though I'll probably go with Londoner's idea of stuffing a babygro in with the camping stuff.
We did take delivery of a cot from a friend this morning, thought it might make it all a bit more real but it hasn't, even when we put it up and Tessa had a jump around in it

Enthusia - you sound like my kind of girl, can't resist a bargain! Just beware of that ebay, it IS addictive! Got all Tessa's real nappies and wraps from there, quite a few clothes for her and most of my maternity clothes this time (summer pg so all last times winter ones will get about 2 weeks wear this time round)

Rodeo - hope you are feeling better, make the most of the rest though.

Right better get off here and mop the kitchen floor, just had someone trying to get my attention by peeing on it First time she has done that, and first time I have told her off for not going on the potty/toilet. Both sulking now!

goldenoldie · 10/09/2005 18:36

OK - for the next Ldn meet lets make it Friday 30 September - ChaCha, hope you can make it. Same time/same place.

12:30. Wagamammas, upstairs in the N1 centre, opposite the Angel tube station.

Wagamammas is pretty child friendly. I met up with some September mums there and one had a toddler in tow.

Tessasmum - glad dd is better.

Enthusia/Tessasmum - do you want to organise an out of Ldn meet?

novadandypowder · 10/09/2005 19:15

Chacha, thanks for that, it's good to know .

Goldenoldie, count me in for the next meet - i'll try not to get there early and hit the shops this time .

novadandypowder · 10/09/2005 19:23

Oh, and chacha, I take a fold up chair with me to park behind the DJ desk so I can sit down most of the time

ChaCha · 10/09/2005 20:23

Well Nova - I've got to hand it to you! You can't get beat that!!

Have a great Saturday night everyone! [goes in search of slippers and hot drink]

Busyalexsmummy · 10/09/2005 20:32

.

pinkminx79 · 11/09/2005 10:12

sorry missed the meet, my Mum was down for the week so didn't get a chance to catch up here (and my gosh theres a lot to catch up on LOL)

got all my hospital stuff ready, gonna pack that this afternoon and stick it in Dps car ready, I know its early, but 8weeks isn't really that long, and you never know...plus its exciting!!!

as for the movements, i get them too, when i lie on my side, she kicks the bed/sofa. Shes relatively quiet thru the day.
Sometimes she squirms so much i feel nauseus, its great that i know she's ok, but now it feels like a person moving around rather than kicks and thuds, it makes me feel a bit squeamish...anyone else?

xx

Enthusia · 11/09/2005 12:26

Hiya all

Count me on for the london meet - have just written it up on the calendar!!!!!!!!

I have no problem organising an out of London meet-up - where would be best, north of London or south, I don't mind driving to most places! Where is everyone else situated, I know ChaCha is Oxford, I think Beks is Bromley and there are a few others around Beks' area. Shall we do an early October meet?

Have just come back from our Sunday Cafe Rouge ritual lovely!!!! Bubs was moving heaps yesterday evening, it was great as DH really felt a bonding with it as he could feel a foot or something and was playing games, he prodded it and it prodded back, ahhhhhhh.

ChaCha - what a great explanation of Ramadan - I remember reading up on it to try and explain it to children, I could have done with your explanation then. So sorry the hospital lost your blood, where could it have gone????? When have you got to go back?

Rodeo - I hope you are feeling better now!

Pinkminx - I love you being so organised - you have definitely overtaken me - have got the bags etc, but nothing packed!!!!!!

Nova - Good on you on your big night out - Our big night involved a DVD a pizza and snuggling up! It was bliss though!

Right I am going to try and put this photo on the members thread and then look at the recipe section we started as I need some inspiration for tonight, sounds as BoB has a good selection on there!!!!

31+2

ChaCha · 11/09/2005 12:35

Morning all,

Rodeo - Glad you're feeling better now! Have a great Sunday and enjoy Country File.

Enthusia - Sounds like my kind of night Am back to hospital tomorrow for more blood tests and not looking forward to it at all.

Busy - Did your post get deleted? Or was there just an error?

Pink - Hope you had a great week with your mum and yet another organised mum2be, well done!

I think someone mentioned here (possibly Jenjam) that it would be a good idea to have a place to post pics etc.. In order for me to post some i'd prefer something password secure, so maybe, if you all agree we could start some kind of hotmail/yahoo group for us Novemberers and then i can post pics etc..would be also good to post lists etc. there, meet ups, calendars and the like. What do you all think? I don't mind starting it if you're all in agreeance.

See you all later x

Enthusia · 11/09/2005 13:02

Ok - Hope this is alright!!!! and that this link works

Meet-up here

Enthusia · 11/09/2005 13:04

ChaCha - like your idea of a picture site for us, go ahead and I will load the meet up pic on there as well!

Oh and by the way I emailed you some stuff the other day you might want to check out!
