Welcome to our santuary and haven ladies.

Many thanks for Frasersmummy for passing the baton onto Cole and I. I am touched and hope I can do all our lo's justice.

For any people wanting to join, don't be shy. We cry, we rant, we smile, we laugh - whatever we feel like we need to do.

Thanks for the lovely messages. Yesterday was very emotional and yet so nice to see many people coming to pay their respects. People that DH had worked with over the last 30 years came, and I felt very touched that they felt they wanted to be there especially as many had to travel from long distances. DH was also a basketball coach for a local team so there were many past and present players who turned up. I also had amazing support from DH's brothers and my friends. The service itself was done by a minister that I have known for many years so I really felt it was personal to us. The whole day was a great tribute to him and illustrated just high a regard many people had for him. They made me feel very proud. We also spoke about Adrian, which we haven't done for many years. I had got to the point where I thought our relatives had forgotten he ever existed but now I know they haven't forgotten, they probably think I don't like to be reminded but of course, they're wrong - I love to talk about him.

Today has been a little harder. The family and friends have gone home and I have had time to think. Obviously there is lots of paperwork to do, but don't feel in the mood at the moment.

Many thanks for thinking of me yesterday and lighting candles. I am touched by your kindness. xxx

Sounds like a very fitting tribute to a wonderful man Dippy. How wonderful that people cared enough to travel long distances. Sending love and hugs from Lancashire xx

Everlong - can you remind me of the title of that song you had played for Oli? I heard it tonight on a tv programme and I cant remember the title or the singer - think I am loosing my marbles

Its a girl singer and the words are beautiful.

Its driving me mad because I cant remember it.

Think I should have an early night

I hope I havent upset you asking - I can certainly understand why you cant listen to it......you will....in (that dreaded word) time. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Northernlurker · 11/02/2009 23:11

Been lurking off and on to see if FMN's baby had arrived and now I see she has .

FMN - Congratulations to you all and my prayers are with you and yours. Kyirrie - what a beautiful name - sounds like her mother - a very brave lass who just keeps on fighting. God bless you all.

Good morning girls xx

I'm so glad your dh had the send-off he deserves. The funeral is a huge hurdle to jump, but there are always other ones you don't expect that are there to make you stumble. Paperwork can wait, taking care of yourself can't. Sending you some strength and healing vibes Dippy, you're an amazing lady xxx

Im relieved that I didnt upset you.

It was one of those 'name that tune' moments.....I kept humming the tune all through the football until my DH said 'FGS go on Mumsnet and ask!!!'

Im a bit like that with 'Two little boys' because of the twins, and 'Pump up the jam ' which is not a bit sad it was just Matts favourite song!

xxxxxxxx

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/02/2009 08:47

Pump up the jam, pump it up, while your feet are stomping, and the jam is pumping, look on up the crowd are jumping. Pump it up a little more, get the party going on the dancefloor, you see cos that's were the party's at ..............

Matt had good taste

Morning Ladies...feeling a little delicate after a red wine and ashes to ashes night with Antonia last night!!I managed to collar Mr Decorator in the shop yesterday afternoon and hes been round to quote for painting my stairs!! This morning i have to go to the funeral of a lovely lady i used to care for... then im off out with my Mum this afternoon.

shabster · 12/02/2009 08:53

It makes me scream with laughter!!! He was only a little lad and we went down, on the train, to see our friends in South Wales. He had one of those little tape recorder thingys (in the days before iPods!!) with his headphones in! For almost 4 hours he sang that on top note!! But his speech was not great so it came out like 'Pump up de jam, pump it wup, wittle more wike on the dance fwoor'

Danny had it played as the last song on his 21st birthday.....the dance floor was packed with about 50 of his mates - Dan in the centre of them - all very drunk....everybody was shouting it and then toasted Dans birthday and toasted Matt - plenty of tears but roars of laughter. Good times xx

shabster · 12/02/2009 08:56

Pump up the jam

One of those songs that you instantly recognise within a few seconds.

Now my neighbours have gone off to work I have it on full blast

travellingwilbury · 12/02/2009 09:39

Good morning all

Shabs I love that song , the image of them all dancing to it and toasting Matt is so lovely .

Lottie I hope the funeral goes as well as it can .

All ok here but I am getting myself into a tizz about Jamie . He has told me a couple of times that he can feel his heart bumping like a drum and I have tried not to worry but on tues he said he could feel it when he was sitting having his breakfast . Before then he would say it when he had been running around so I didn't worry too much . I have made a doctors appt for monday just to get him checked . Harry had a heart murmur and my dh gets palpatations sometimes so I am now tryin very hard not to freak out .
Don't know if its normal for a 5yr old to even be aware of their heart beating or not ?

Thanks Everlong , I am sure you are right but the worrying just comes with the territory doesn't it ?

I half expect the dr to look at me like I am a loon and wonder what on earth I am doing there but I don't care

shabster · 12/02/2009 09:58

TW - Jamie could be aware of his heart beating because maybe you have mentioned it??? I always panick when Tom is ill and check his pulse etc etc....when he was in reception at school I remember him saying 'my heart is going really fast!!' I panicked and took him to the GP - explained my fears and my experiences. He was fine but I had a couple of sleepless nights fretting and worrying. You are doing the right thing my darling....dont ever, ever let a GP fob you off - tell him your fears, insist that he examines Jamie and if you have any problems with GP tell him Shabster is on her way to sort him out

shabster · 12/02/2009 10:01

I dont know about little girls but I do know that little boys are 'Mummy lovers!' They take their cue from Mum....my Dad who is almost 77 always says 'My mum was my world, she knew everything, she knew how to sort everything out, and she loved me like no other woman has ever done.'

All my sons have 'picked up' on my feelings from before they were born.....xxxx

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/02/2009 10:44

TW - you're doing the right thing. Not panicing in front of your ds (just in your head!) and taking him to the GP. It's probably nothing, but if you want a second opinion or a referral, make sure you push for it.

I hope things go as well as they can today Lottie xxx
