A little experiment, can you identify the sex of a baby when they're wearing neutral clothes?

This is something that fasinates me! I have a 7 month old and I really think without wearing gender typical clothing you would have no idea of my babys sex.

I have put a picture of my baby of my profile, can you guess the sex?

Would be interesting to see others DC too!

I think - possibly - a girl?

Although not sure.

Some children do seem to be easy to identify as boy or girl - my nephew, for example, was very much a boy from the time he was delivered. My own two girls were less obviously girls - even when dressed in bright pink I would still have old dears ask what his name was!

Lovely baby, though, regardless of gender.

Besom · 25/04/2010 18:27

If forced to choose I would say girl, but who knows?

My dd has been mistaken for a boy many times.

trumpton · 25/04/2010 18:28

I thought girl straight away but can't justify why. A real cutie. I love that direct look . It's a sort of " The game is up ! I know what you are doing " look.

memoo · 25/04/2010 18:29

My first baby was a girl and I'd take her out in head to toe pink and some old dear would still think she was a boy!

i also think girl. Apologies if a boy

Purplebuns · 25/04/2010 18:31

I must say think they are a girl.

Caoimhe · 25/04/2010 18:31

I would guess girl but I'm not sure!!!

LaDiDaDi · 25/04/2010 18:31

I can't really tell but I'm going to go with boy.

No one could tell that my dd was a girl until she was about 3!

OTTMummA · 25/04/2010 18:31

i say boy, but only because the baby in the pic had the same hair line of my DS when he was born.
a beauty either way though

memoo · 25/04/2010 18:32

I won't be offended if your guesses are wrong. I myself think its impossible to tell!

I'd say girl, but can't quite put a finger on why.

Bumbleconfusus · 25/04/2010 18:32

BigTillyMint · 25/04/2010 18:32

I think girl!

OTTMummA · 25/04/2010 18:33

LaTrucha · 25/04/2010 18:33

I think a girl but not very sure.
It depends on the baby - my ds is eight months and one of the most regular comments I get is "There's no mistaking him for a girl!"

memoo · 25/04/2010 18:37

Ok, she is a girl! Intersting that there were definately more people guessing girl than boy.

Tbh I think she looks like a boy!

Yippee, yippee

I think I guessed because of mouth shape - weird I know!

Ivykaty44 · 25/04/2010 18:40

girl - something to do with the ears

deepdarkwood · 25/04/2010 18:40

I'm guessing girl. You may (or may not) be interested to hear that babies are actually much better at guessing the sex of (neutraly dressed) babies/toddlers than adults are (they haven't learnt to judge by pink & blue yet, so see more of the differences in gait/build apparently)

Chica31 · 25/04/2010 18:41

I guessed girl, but posted too late. I agree with Starberries I think it it the shape of the mouth which is the give away.

I really think my DD 11 months looks like a girl too, but living in Spain and DD not having her ear pierced .....

jemart · 25/04/2010 18:44

I think its a girl.

jemart · 25/04/2010 18:45

oooh yay I got it right! (note to self, read whole thread before posting)
