erections

Twice today my 2 1/2 year old son has (very loudly in the middle of a shopping centre) complained that his "willy is sore and won't go back down". Is this normal??????????
If anyone has any experience of this then I would really appreciate some advice. I know that erections are normal even in babies but should it hurt (he's never complained before)? Does it mean he will need to be circumcised? He doesn't look sore and when I asked him about it a bit later he said it was okay now.

He probably means sore as in uncomfortable,my ds says it alot (and he's already been circumcised!).They are just become aware of their bodies,I don't think its anything to worry about.

WallOfSilence · 20/02/2008 20:25

My ds asked me to drive my car faster over the bumps as it makes his willy go hard He is 3.

popsycal · 20/02/2008 20:26

normal i think
both of mine described it as 'sore' or ;hurty;' when they were little - suppose it is there way of saying it does not feel like it normally does...

Thanks poshwellies. All my friends have daughters or very young boys so no-one I know has had to go through the willy problem.

chubbymummy, thanks for this thread! I am laughing so much (but also cringing at the thought that my 16month old son could be saying the same within a year).

WallOfSilence · 20/02/2008 20:39

I tried to change the subject!

But willies are a serious topic for him you know.

He sang the whole way to the shop yesterday "Where's my willy, here's my willy, I love my willy, mammy hasn't got a willy"

The turned to his sister with his finger in the shape of an L & said "You're a loser XXXX, you've not got a willy".

Oh the joy.

Apparently I have a 'doggy'. (think I need a wax)

Oblomov · 20/02/2008 20:40

ds was very young when he first 'pointed 'this out to me !
He too used to say "willy hurty", but I think it is just an expression, maybe the shock, or not knowing makes them express it as hurt, as in they don't know how else to describe it.
Ds now takes great pleaseure is telling us that his willy is "getting bigger".
Highly embarrassing. But hwat can you do ? I try not to make a big deal out of it.

itsahardknocklife · 20/02/2008 20:42

oh my god, stop it! I'm going to wet myself !!!!

chubbymummy · 20/02/2008 20:44

I found ds , rolling around on the floor at aged 2 1/4. I know this becasue at th end, he went " aaaaaarrrrrrgggggh" and I was on a very embarrassing thread, describing it (insensitively) , at the time, because I was so shocked by it.

Welcome to the world of erections. No one talks about it. But many boys , it starts young.

LilRedWG · 20/02/2008 20:45

My keyboard got stuck

Oblomov · 20/02/2008 20:45

"Mummy, I have willy. Why you no willy. "

Don't you just love it.

While fiddling about in the bath the other day(boys are lovely creatures ) ds asked his dad what his testicles are for, why did he have them etc..dh gave a nice calm response only to be then asked "Are they for playing with then?"

chubbymummy · 20/02/2008 20:49

Thought I could handle anything after having to do sex education with a load ot 6/7 year olds the other week and teaching the correct names for penis, virgina, breasts and testicles but this really floored me!
