My name (especially my maiden name) was laughed at for years (with good reason) - not a problem, I realise no one was laughing at me, just my name.

actually mine wasn't a child anyway - Alaric was a grown man when I knew him. I would have shortened to Al or Ric personally but he didn;t seem inclined to.
