What's the worst spelling of a name you have seen?

Isn't that the funny thing with names, even "normal" names people can question if they've never encountered them before.

This is sort of connected - and stop me if I've posted this before, but my DH heard of a family who kept referring to their son as Gooey. When asked how it was spelt, they said G-U-Y.
They'd seen it written down once and assumed it was Gooey.

I got a letter the other day with my name spelt 'Anny'. Surely 'Annie' isn't that hard to spell!

McDreamy - my DD is 'Phoebe' - the variations on the spelling when she was born were hilarious!

I had a card (from an old teacher at school) saying, 'Congratulations on the birth of Feeby'. Honestly.

Everyone always gets the 'o' and the 'e' the wrong way round too, so lots of things saying 'Pheobe'.

Also once had the name spelled as 'Furby' - like one of those furry, talking toys that used to be so popular!

i knew two children called Phoenix.
One was Phenix and the other Feenicks.

I also knew a Daniele (Danielle)and I work with a Neenah (Nina) and a Meeshell (Michelle).

My cousin Joshua was once sent a letter addressed to Jossuar. It's now a family joke.

Re the Feenicks and other 'phonetically spelled' names.
I've seen on here sometimes people choose a type of spelling for a name because 'it will make it easy for the child to learn to spell it'.

Which is just as well, cos thats exactly what they'll be doing every single time anyone asks them what their name is for their whole life:

'no, its spelled F-E-E-N-I-C-K-S'
