I hate to see/hear Aaron pronounced as Arran as on Emmerdale-surely it should be Air-ron as in Bible?or maybe I am wrong.

KateF · 28/03/2009 10:56

I have had the following go through playgroup- Shanelle, Emalie,Kelci and Caidyn (siblings),Chelci-Leigh, Kacey. It's a nightmare for teachers I tell you!

twinsetandpearls · 28/03/2009 11:07

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2009 11:28

FAQinglovely · 28/03/2009 11:30

PMSL Twinset - so are you rather over weight and do you like spending money that would be better spent on the people living in your country

(btw - spat my coffee out when I read your post LOL)

Stayingsunnygirl · 28/03/2009 11:39

My mum had a friend who was a teacher, and in this man's class was a girl called Alfo Margaret. Apparently he asked the mum where the name came from, and was told she'd been concieved on a gravestone, so they picked the name from the stone to name her.

Here Lies John Smith

Alfo (the 'f' actually being that long 's')

Margaret - his wife.

Hence Alfo Margaret - poor lass.

He also taught twin girls whose surname was Boob - I bet they married young!

I did also hear of someone calling their son Frederick Ulysses Charles Kelly - but that may be an urban myth.

FAQ I do have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to homework and throwing gluesyicks in class, apparantly that makes me a dictator who approves of torture

Opinions · 28/03/2009 12:22

Siouxzanne

stainesmassif · 28/03/2009 12:35

this isn't entirely relevant but...
i went on a client visit with two colleagues and arrived at reception. Introduced colleagues and myself to receptionist so that she could write out our name badges.

'This is Mrs Client Relationship'
'This is Mr Account Manager'
'And I am Justine (my real first name) Stainesmassif'

Receptionist handed over name badges for C R, A M and *Ian Stainesmassif'.

Obviously, I am 'Just Ian Staines Massif' - transgender with low self esteem??

stainesmassif · 28/03/2009 12:36

and failed to use bold properly!!

pagwatch · 28/03/2009 13:10

Keigh-Leigh was the worst I have seen.
Some unfortunate graffeti about her taste in sexual partners

titchy · 28/03/2009 13:34

I don't quite understand how so many names can be so appallingly spelt. Presumably the parents don't actually know the real spelling, but surely the Registrar, if they said 'Julie' wold just put down 'Julie'. Registrars don't go 'And how do you want o spell that?' do they?

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2009 14:28

pmsl at "Just Ian"

CharleeInSpring · 28/03/2009 14:30

I have know a Kayliegh wich was spelt K-lie.

I also know a gothy guy who was called Tony but he changed it to Toe-Knee whilst under the influence of god knows what.

pagwatch · 28/03/2009 14:32

titchy
my sister is a registrar and they absoloutely without question get the exact spelling - never ever assume.

Actually I must call my sis and see if she has any additions to this thread.
She does gently ask people to go away and think about it sometimes.

She is just the lovliest person so can get away with it . She saya you would be amazed how often people want their childs name to be a joke or a pun.

Littlefish · 28/03/2009 14:36

Oooh, Opinions has just reminded me of another one!

I've taught a Siouxsie (Susie) (as in Siouxsie and the Banshees one must presume!)

ZZZen · 28/03/2009 14:37

I am wracking my brain trying to think of twinset's Irish surname but I don't get it.

Just as well eh twinset? I have you forever stuck in my mind as Miss Mugabe now though

WorzselMummage · 28/03/2009 14:40

She had a son called Whitby but thats a whole different thread..

ZZZen · 28/03/2009 14:42

Bubbaluv · 28/03/2009 14:42

fatzak · 28/03/2009 14:44
