is this a nice name for a little girl?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SoupDragon · 20/03/2009 18:36

Not IMO.

Nancy66 · 20/03/2009 18:48

No - not really a proper name and sounds too much like 'pee' and will invite far too much ridicule when she's at school.

HeadFairy · 20/03/2009 18:50

As in Pia Zadora? I don't like, as Nancy said, Pia would be endlessly teased at school for being a pee-er.

No

Sorry, but you did ask

southeastastra · 20/03/2009 18:52

i went to school with one, she was lovely, we never made fun of her name

suwoo · 20/03/2009 19:07

I went to school with one too, unfortunately it was a welsh sea side town- so we also had a pier of the other type too .

Babbity · 20/03/2009 19:08

Not really my cuppa. I think -ia names are on the way out - they'll date. Lots of Tias Mias Sophias etc around at the mo.

pointydog · 20/03/2009 19:21

no.

southeastastra · 20/03/2009 19:22

ha suwoo, we pronounced it pie ya though

liath · 20/03/2009 19:23

I quite like it.

LynetteScavo · 20/03/2009 19:23

I like Pia.

If it's not a "proper" name what is it short for?

EyeballsintheSky · 20/03/2009 19:23

Sweet actually. Didn't think I'd like it but after saying it a few times in my head I rather like it.

electra · 20/03/2009 19:24

No.....really no

PuppyMonkey · 20/03/2009 19:24

Pia lot lol MMJ...

suwoo · 20/03/2009 19:26

Oh really SEA? I wonder how the OP plans to pronounce it? It seems most on here have taken it as pee-ya.

Tinker · 20/03/2009 19:31

Nice if you're Swedish.

woollyjo · 20/03/2009 19:32

I like it, its Italian originally but quite common in Germany too. Means pious or honorable.

KHS · 20/03/2009 20:32

Perfectly acceptable - like Mia.

worley · 20/03/2009 20:38

sorry but no, my first thought was the pia pia piano piano piano song

cthea · 20/03/2009 20:40

Pia is very sweet but seems like a missed opportunity for a "proper" name. Maybe short for Patricia? (First that came to mind, is this an awful choice? I like it.)

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 20/03/2009 20:41

Sounds awful to me - sorry!

MsBump · 20/03/2009 20:43

RachieB · 20/03/2009 21:05

bettany · 20/03/2009 23:06
