Righteo, have name changed for this because I want to give my other DCs names and don't want people in RL to be able to identify me by them and read some of my other, more personal posts!

DH and myself have just discovered we're pregnant again, we thought we'd give it one last shot and if it happened it happened and if not no worries.

Well we're thrilled to pieces but a bit stuck on names! having 6DCS already we've used up a lot of our favourite names!

So far we have:
DS1, Archibald Edward (Archie) 16
DD1, Christabelle Edie Jocasta 15
DD2, Ottilie Violet Grace 11
DS2, Hamish Rupert 7
DD3, Antigone Lila Rae nearly 3
DD4, Flossie Isabella Rose 1

so does anyone have any wise suggestions? we quite like Fabrizia, Seraphina, Delphi, Yveline, Ivy, Regan, Kitty and Isolde and for DSs Xerxes, Apollo, Oberon (king of the fairies connotations though, maybe too cruel?) Caspian, Ptolemy, Horatio and Titus.
But none of these seem to REALLY grab us.

i was at school with a Titus. great name, although unfortunately close to 'tightarse'.

henrys7thwife · 23/02/2009 16:54

I agree definitely a troll post - and the flag for me was not the number or names of the children - it's the fact that so many of her 'older children' (who don't exist I'm convinced ) have names that are SOOOOOO fashionable now and coming into style, as evidenced by all of you who say 'what lovely names your children have' - I bet 12 years ago you wouldn't have said the same thing.

Harumph.

But in any case - as others have also pointed out......who really cares? Not sure why she had to troll it - could have just said 'what are some Shakespearean/Greek/pre-300BC names you can think of'

henrys7thwife · 23/02/2009 16:55

omg blu sarcophagus?

This thread has made me laugh.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 23/02/2009 17:05

Friend has little boy called Harper and little girl called Xenia pronounced EX-Zenia
I love both of them

Lemontart · 23/02/2009 17:16

Several of those names were on my children?s short list for names and not that weird/troll radar alerting surely? I rather fancied Hamish for DD1 (if she had been a boy of course!) and both Lila and Rae were on various lists for middle names. Isabelle and Rose are rather normal too.

My next door neighbour is about 16/17 and he is called Archie and he had a girlfriend a while ago whose sister was Jocasta. I do not think that they are so modern, definitely a rubbish argument to label this woman a troll! Perhaps these names are more common in certain parts of the country compared with others? Plenty of name lists go up here with names I have never ever heard anyone using in RL before..

laughalot · 23/02/2009 17:19

xavier

cyteen · 23/02/2009 17:23

Exzenia sounds like eczema, surely.

I don't think the OP is a troll. A Times reader, possibly, but not a troll.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 23/02/2009 17:28

cyteen I think it helps that she is a very very pretty little 3 year old

babynumber7 · 23/02/2009 18:09

Firstly thank you once again to everyone who is contributing to our list of potential names for DC7! Love lots of them and its always nice to read suggestions!

Obviously I'm not going to be able to convinve some of you that I'm not a troll but I don't think any of my children's names are hugely NOW, DD4 has Isabella as a middle name in part for her aunt (my SIL) and I don't think Archibald, Christabelle, Jocasta, Ottilie or Antigone are so very now, yes they've become more well known in recent years but It's not like my DCs have names of very at the minute celebrities. They have names that are, in some cases have been around for several millenia.

OP posts:
subtlemouse · 23/02/2009 18:24

The names may have been around for millenia, but no children with those particular combinations have been registered in England and Wales at the ages suggested by OP.

Anyone else got a subscription to Ancestry, or is it just me????

I don't think that the OP is a troll, firstly because I think that I recognise her as a regular poster even with the name change and secondly because most trolls seem to get a delight out of getting people emotionally involved with them; whilst lots of us are enjoying this thread I don't think that any of us feel "drawn in" in the way that a troll usually tries to.

Who cares any way. I love baby name threads .

ramonaquimby · 23/02/2009 19:11

Kerrymumbles - what a shitty thing to post

thisisyesterday · 23/02/2009 19:16

oh dear @ exzenia

really people shouldn't be trying to use unusual names if they have no idea how to pronounce them! it just makes the parents look a bit stupid IMO :s
althouhh maybe they did it on purpose???

ho hum

I am loving Harper...

You can have my middle name if you want... I have told no-one of it's existence (apart from dh and he snorted for at least a week)
it's...

gulp...

Lettice..... Letty.

ingles2 · 23/02/2009 19:22

Am lovin' Sarcophagus Blu

TaurielTest · 23/02/2009 19:23

Septimus - Tim for short?

audley · 23/02/2009 19:45

Ingles, I have a passion for Lettice, but I couldn't do it to a dd, so perhaps I'll add it to my own name!?!

headingnorth · 23/02/2009 19:46

Babynumber7 - Well done you for coming up with some seriously wonderful names and for 7 kids too!

Isolde and ptolemy were on my list too but the xp wasn't keen. I think it's great to go for something really unusual. I thought my dd's name was fairly uncommon and since we registered her I've now met and heard of about 10 other babies with the same name . Grrr!

Suggestions:
Agatha
Willa
Kinvara

Drago
Wilf

Oh, and to those who keep shouting troll - What is with you lot? can no-one post a question without being got at. It's a harmless thread and it's not hurting anyone. Stop being such killjoys.

belgo · 23/02/2009 19:54

sublemouse - did you really check the registry?

lmao!

Do you really care so much? Can you not just turn off the computer and forget about it, like I do?

ramonaquimby · 23/02/2009 19:58
