Righteo, have name changed for this because I want to give my other DCs names and don't want people in RL to be able to identify me by them and read some of my other, more personal posts!

DH and myself have just discovered we're pregnant again, we thought we'd give it one last shot and if it happened it happened and if not no worries.

Well we're thrilled to pieces but a bit stuck on names! having 6DCS already we've used up a lot of our favourite names!

So far we have:
DS1, Archibald Edward (Archie) 16
DD1, Christabelle Edie Jocasta 15
DD2, Ottilie Violet Grace 11
DS2, Hamish Rupert 7
DD3, Antigone Lila Rae nearly 3
DD4, Flossie Isabella Rose 1

so does anyone have any wise suggestions? we quite like Fabrizia, Seraphina, Delphi, Yveline, Ivy, Regan, Kitty and Isolde and for DSs Xerxes, Apollo, Oberon (king of the fairies connotations though, maybe too cruel?) Caspian, Ptolemy, Horatio and Titus.
But none of these seem to REALLY grab us.

OP posts:

Oh Antigone is OK, she was a feisty dame who did what she thought was right.

We named DS1 after similar (tho fesity lad rather than dame! lol).

Trip trap.....

belgo · 23/02/2009 08:32

I'm fed up with these shouts of 'trip trap' just because the OP's children's names are unusual. They're not even that unusual, they are all real names.

belgo · 23/02/2009 08:33

in fact anything slightly out of the ordinary from an unrecognised poster will result in someone saying trip trap.

Vulgar · 23/02/2009 09:26

Some more suggestions. I like this thread. It's fun thinking of names I like but would never dare! Good for you Babynumber7

Perpetua (I have no idea why I like this so much but i LOVE it)
Pandora
Persephone
Cicely

for boys:

Ivo
Bertie
Aloysius

I got most of these off a Cocteau Twins CD. They also have "Lorelei" which i like but think it sounds a bit like a hooker's name.

lisalisa · 23/02/2009 10:13

Point taken belgo. You're right. It may be genuine . I did think however given child no 7 which is in itself fairly unusual and the names themselves wihch wwere very unusual and the propsensity especially during half term preiod for troll/hoax threads that this was bound to be one. Let's wait and see....

evamummy · 23/02/2009 10:41

There is a girl in my dd's class named Antigone but she is always called Tiggy - I think it's gorgeous!

luminiere · 23/02/2009 11:23

OP's not genuine.
Some of the names aren't that unusual, only one or two.

I'd have thought it was obvious Those kids don't exist.

luminiere, know that for a fact do you???

I have no reason to disbelieve the OP, and think her children have beautiful names.

am also using this thread to add to my own growing list of names for db3, so even if the op did turn out to be a troll then the thread is still serving a purpose!

swanriver · 23/02/2009 11:57

Hermione
Oxiana
Serafina
Anselm
Gerald

minnymoeandsue · 23/02/2009 12:00

The opening post has troll stamped all over it, I agree.
A really unlikely mixture of names too.

So what!

Definitely a troll.

I mean Titus, really??!!

No scope for teasing there.

thisisyesterday · 23/02/2009 12:06

people on mn seem so quick to shout troll these days, which is a real shame because it must be off-putting for new posters.

I have absolutely no idea why anyone would presume that the op is a troll just because her children have unusual names.

quite bizarre.

thisisyesterday · 23/02/2009 12:10

oh no, some narrow-minded people may take the piss out of a baby's name.

well then I agree the op must be a troll

gardenladies · 23/02/2009 12:10

Leave her alone.
These trolls (with the very large families and with mythological names) are the most entertaining.
They pop up several times a year I chuckle when they pop up again and again.

sardionybell · 23/02/2009 12:14

Can I cross the bridge Horatio?

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 23/02/2009 12:22

Why a troll?

I know plenty of kids with equally poncey names

(and Septimus is a splendid idea BTW )

MarmadukeScarlet · 23/02/2009 14:01

My DC have fairly poncy names and yup they have been mentioned on this thread as suggestions!

I know a Thaddius, an Antigony, a Xanthe and Horatio.

I'd rather see a real, but less usual, name than some made up spelling/mixture of 2 decent names just to be a bit different.

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 23/02/2009 14:10

Even if OP is a troll it doesn't really matter, it's not hurting anyone and everyone is having a nice time suggesting names that they know their DPs will never let them use.

I think someone has already suggested it but Clemency is lovely.

charmargot · 23/02/2009 14:12

This is a joke right???

charmargot · 23/02/2009 14:15

Ha ha ha!!! I'm laughing so much! Shouldn't though as being the 7th of 9 my siblings and I have some very silly names including Carmen Miranda and Naomi Octavia (the 8th).
Yes really!!!

evamummy · 23/02/2009 14:21

I don't care if its a joke or not, but I am surprised that some of you find them SO unusual. C'mon are these names really that strange:

Archie
Christa / Belle
Ottilie
Hamish
Tiggy
Flossie

And even if they aren't as common as Jack and Emily, is there anything WRONG with them??

Blu · 23/02/2009 14:23

Hepzibah is nice
Ferdinand
Orlando
Plinth
Sarcophagus (Gus for short)
Proscenium
Gouache
Triassica
