I like the name Honey but not sure whether it's a bit brave?

Any thoughts?
My mum actually suggested it and I do think it's a really pretty name and like my mum said, how could your little girl not be a little cutie with a name like Honey?
But I'm quite boring and not sure if it's a bit unusual, I've never heard of anyone else called Honey, apart from the girl in the film!

xxhunnyxx you seem very excited about your baby and quite rightly so. Congratulations BTW. Just don't get so hung up on looks that's all. Even if by some distant genetic throwback you were blessed with a "dark" child, I hope you would be proud of him/her. It is natural to be curious about how our unborn children will come out - but you seem to be thinking about dark/fat/ugly etc as some sort of curse. Surely the most important thing is that the child is loved by both its parents, no matter how he/she looks? I have known many a red-headed baby spring out of nowhere - much to puzzlement of their parents!

pgwithnumber3 · 10/01/2009 20:22

I have to laugh XXhunnyXX how wrong you may be about what your child may look like. I was extremely blonde as child as was DH (who is now dark), our first DD was born with ginger hair!

littlelamb · 10/01/2009 20:24

Well xxhunnyxx, may I point you in the direction of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. Very pretty people. Their children? Not so much

pgwithnumber3 · 10/01/2009 20:26

The best looking couples don't necessarily have the most beautiful couples, I see some stunning children who have very plain parents.

LiffeyMermaid · 10/01/2009 20:27

True littlelamb, that'd be a good thread on its own. Who else is there? They're a really good example. Their children are so ordinary.

pgwithnumber3 · 10/01/2009 20:27

should read the most beautiful children!

violethill · 10/01/2009 21:15

Golden labrador.

silverfairy · 11/01/2009 04:20

Well said littlelamb
I'm not being rude by the way, just can't believe somebody would be so silly.

Tortington · 11/01/2009 04:25

i changed my dd;s name in the delivery room during labour, specifically as it occured to me the name i had chosen, would be horrible on an ugly fat kid.

many years later, BIL met a partner and had a girl, called her by this name - that they never knew i had thought about - and this kid is fat and not right pretty - yet.

Lonnie · 11/01/2009 11:46

I wouldnt use it but then I dont care for "food" names like honey Parsley (yes I know one) Apple.. I don't mind them so much as middle names but I just feel it is not a name a adult would like to have to say out loud to others.. And I know a girl called Grace whom is SOOOO misnamed it is close to untrue..

MarchNowFebMum · 12/01/2009 00:01

honey sounds chav, sorry

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 17:33

My DD1 is Honey, and everyone says it suits her perfectly! I've never heard anyone say its chavvy!

kerala · 05/02/2011 19:23

Fine for a cute toddler but cringeworthy on an adult. And as we know they arent cute toddlers for long...

UrsulaBuffay · 05/02/2011 20:43

How about Honor with the nn Honey?

honeyyy · 11/06/2021 18:14

TakeMe2Insanity · 11/06/2021 20:33

DietrichandDiMaggio · 11/06/2021 20:37

TEN YEAR OLD THREAD!!

Posieandpip · 12/06/2021 04:01

I love Honey! I think Fern Cotton has a Honey 🤔

Theoldwoman · 12/06/2021 05:01

It’s a big no from me.

Would you like Honey to be your actual name?

starrynight21 · 12/06/2021 05:12

In the US it is commonly used as a catch-all name for a woman , "Hey Honey can you get me a coffee ?" , I wouldn't use it for that reason.

WeIcomeToGilead · 12/06/2021 05:28

Let’s hope OP has grown up a bit since
this thread! Love from a short dark blob named Grace 🙄 😂

drpet49 · 12/06/2021 06:51

Sex worker name

MsTSwift · 12/06/2021 06:59

Also genes skip around. Conventionally attractive parents don’t necessarily have conventionally attractive children…And some distinctly ordinary looking people sire Greek gods !

Chilldonaldchill · 12/06/2021 12:17

I know an 18 year old Honey. My dd was at school with her. It raised an eyebrow on the first day in year 7 and never since.
