I like the name Honey but not sure whether it's a bit brave?

Any thoughts?
My mum actually suggested it and I do think it's a really pretty name and like my mum said, how could your little girl not be a little cutie with a name like Honey?
But I'm quite boring and not sure if it's a bit unusual, I've never heard of anyone else called Honey, apart from the girl in the film!

That's a consideration, we know an 'Angel', and I have never seen a less appropriately named child! Actually, poor old fifi-trixibelle is a good contender now I come to think about it!

Sorry pretty name maybe for little baby but not a grown women. Imagine if she wants to be a barrister or brain surgeon, Honey wouldn't really go.

The name Melissa means "honey bee"! Melisande is a related French girl's name.

oh and i went to school with a girl called honey. she was wet and pathetic and annoying so that puts me off as well. sorry i think its dreadful

I would say that the thing about names is that trends change constantly and so if it suites now you can't be held responsible if in 20 years time it turns out to be a chavtastic name or the name of the most recent soap star character etc. Personally I would go with your gut instinct. My friend was named morag but has always used her second name (which is more common) because she hated it, but its never given her a problem as an adult...she is now old enough to decide what her name is and has changed it. My little brother was named Jesse and spent his chldhood being teased because of it, and now it's considered a pretty cool name...so go figure. Basically I think it depends on what type of person you are and how you treat the name. If you've got the personality to pull it off and be proud of it as a name chances are your girl will too... if you are unsure then I would shy away as you will always be slightly embarrassed about your choice and could project your own paranoia onto your offspring...

Having said all that...I like it!

I must admit I have a bit of a thing for cutesy names and really quite like it. I don't think it sounds like a porn star at all. I don't watch "Eastenders" so wouldn't think of that at all. I do, however, think it works better as a middle name and then you can call it her as a "pet" name too.

Am a bit of an OLC fan/traditionalist personally, but to my suprise I like Honey.

I think you could only choose it though, if you are likely to have a honey-coloured child, either in skin tone or hair colour. To be pale and dark haired would not suit a Honey.

She will be blonde as a child as both me n bf were but my hair has gone brown now.
And she will be very pretty, slim and gorgeous. I don't mean to sound big headed but we've both got good genes so I just know she's going to be gorgeous!
And she defo wouldnt be a porn star!
We've actually now ruled it out anyway but we might use it as a middle name.

I have heard of a few Honey's recently. The thing is children don't stay as children and it is quite a name to live up to (or to live down). It is more like a pet name IMHO. TBH some of the names I have heard it makes me feel that the parents are just doing it for attention, or to out-do one another in some kind of unusual name competition. It is a nice pet name - but a rather silly first name I think.

Silverfairy - so do u think that 2 attractive, slim, blonde people are going to have a dark haired, fat, ugly child? It's not stupid, it's science!!!
And no of course my daughter would not be a porn star.
There are so many people on here who are wanting to name their daughters such ugly, ugly names. I just want a pretty name for my daughter, I didn't realise that was such a crime!
Anyway, like I said we've ruled it out now anyway, I'm trying to twist bf's arm on Evie at the mo

had to comment (1st time) because this is my beautiful 4 year old daughters name yes she has honey hair and skin but didnt when she was born, in a sea of Jessicas Amys Graces and the rest I think it makes a nice change to hear somethingn different BTW we are most certainly not chavvy never owned any burberry dont wear gold jewellery or anything else, I know what you mean it can be a pet name but I agree with earlier poster it is just a name after a while and you dont think about it, dont think be posting again cos think that there is quite alot of nastiness on this board!! just had to tell you that!! oh yeah most certainly can say it in angry voice, and know of 2 Evies who are both lovely x

If you read my post properly I said she would sound like a porn star.

Prettiness is in the eye of the beholder in this case. You should remember you are naming a child who will grow into an adult one day and not a pet dog.

Sorry but u were the person being very rude about me! It's one thing to give your opinion on my suggested name but to make comments about myself..well that's just not really very nice is it?
And anyway my comments about the colouring and look of my child was only in response to a previous comment made about having a child with honey coloured hair and skin.
But I'm not going to apologise for being proud of my future baby.

Dark hair does not equal ugly.

Is this your first child?? I look at my children and wonder where they came from. Genetics as a subject is definitely a science, but we can never predict or control which genes will be passed on.

Yes it's my first child.
No i didnt say that dark hair was ugly but just saying that my child would be neither dark, ugly or fat.
I know that there is no guarantees of anything when it comes to genes but it is pretty much certain that it will be blonde (especially as a baby) as me n DP both had white hair up until being about 6 and then mine gradually turned to a mousey brown, he's still very blonde. Seriously, there's no dark gene on either side, from any grandparents etc. It wouldn't happen.
