Our other choices include Alexander (hot favorite so far I think), also Mungo, Munro, Nairn, Hector and Rory.

DH has just suggested Dougray and my initial reaction was positive. Wondering what you ladies think to it (we are in Scotland, as you may have guessed!)

Honest opinions please, don't hold back.

aye!!

I know that American websites will give you Kenneth as a translation for Coinneach, but I cling stubbornly to the belief that it means ladygarden.

Chipmonkey???? where are you? Did you cover this is honours leaving cert?

Coinneachfortheyuletidemammaries x post I should have said if my wit was quicker than it is

KateF · 19/12/2008 19:34

My friend has an Eachan which is apparently Gaelic for Hector.

gomez · 19/12/2008 19:42

I was acquainted (ahem ) briefly with a very lovely Coinneach at University and have held the name in high regard ever since. DH however holds simialr views to yourself and told me to feck off!

Still think Dougray rocks. Cormac?

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 19/12/2008 19:45

Yes Cormac is a good one. LIke it, strong, phonetically it works well in any English-speaking country. Lorcan and Declan work well too.

Good evening Liffey , how nice of you to pop in!
I thought you might quite like this one....DH is loving it (well, either Dougray / Gray or Alexander / Lex). It appears we like names that can be shortened doesn't it!
Nice to hear that a few people like it (well, the minority few but that's ok by me). I don't want a name that a gazillion other people would use. That's what is putting me off Alexander really.

BTW had DD1 been a boy she would have been Hamish. DD2 would have been Munro (probably or if not Archie). So I've sort of 'gone off' them a little bit.

delightedoldbag34 · 19/12/2008 20:18

Er, just clicked on your link scottishmummy but it links to ebay and an ad for a bugaboo chassis!
(although how did you know I am a bugaboo lover? although I try to keep that quiet to avoid the bugaboo haters that hang out round here)
But in answer to your question, No I haven't seen it and Yes I would like to!

Please?

Joining this late delightedoldbag but just to say I love Dougray (so different) and the shortened possibilities are many. Also like Gray - have v good friend called Gray (he's Welsh) and always thought what a cool name it is - he is also v sexy and the name helps! If it sways you at all my DH has met Dougray Scott and says he is fab!

LaDiDaDi · 19/12/2008 20:27

I like Dougray, Hector and Rory.

delightedoldbag34 · 19/12/2008 20:30

Oh well redhotredhead, that settles it then!
Thanks for the list scottishmummy. Very relieved to note that DD2 name isn't on it at all and DD1 is in top 40 (but only her Sunday name not her 'real' name) - bet you can't guess which it is. (Liffey - Ssssshhhhhh)
Also pleased to see an absence of Dougrays but slightly shocked at the number of Kenzies and am at Jayden being at No26. Where are they all ..... I've never met ONE!

OOOH and redhot am very impressed and at your DH having met the real Dougray Scott. Good to hear he's nice - although I would have guessed that probably - he does seem likeable.
