Our other choices include Alexander (hot favorite so far I think), also Mungo, Munro, Nairn, Hector and Rory.

DH has just suggested Dougray and my initial reaction was positive. Wondering what you ladies think to it (we are in Scotland, as you may have guessed!)

Honest opinions please, don't hold back.

You could just call him Gray?

annasmami · 19/12/2008 11:37

I would go for Douglas instead of Dougray.

Alexander is a little unimaginative and most certainly will be shortened.

But I REALLY like Mungo and Rory from your list! Great, masculine names that won't have to be shortened.

Having Googled Dougray I think it may be made up. Although I did find a website that listed it being of French origin (which sounds unlikely).
I still like it and have checked through my collection of baby name books (I have quite a few) and it isn't in ANY of them.

Has anyone ever met anyone actually called this?
(I do know Dougray Scott isn't actually called Dougray.)

I like Alexander and Hector. Dougray makes me think of Dounreay, sorry.

CoolYourJets · 19/12/2008 13:27

Dougray sounds made up. Dh and I always snort at Dougray Scott. Reckon he spelt Dougie wrong .

moondog · 19/12/2008 13:27

Dougray ~ Scottish ~ Protector of the King

ScottishMummy · 19/12/2008 14:03

i like hamish

paolosgirl · 19/12/2008 14:04

Mungo - poncey, Trying Too Hard (and will depend on a public school education for the duration), and the link to Mary Mungo and Midge is too strong

Munro - do you bag them? Did you conceive him up one? Then no.

Nairn - It's a town, not a name

Hector - do you not like your unborn baby?

Dougray - plain wrong on so many levels

And I'm also north of the border...please rethink those names!

ScottishMummy · 19/12/2008 14:05
