Just wanted to say, and she wasn't born on a Wednesday!

If the OP comes back and confirms that she will only ever call her DD "Daisy" then I will stand corrected.

As it is though, I can't see that it's any odder than someone saying they love their DD's name which is Charlotte, and they are going to call her Lottie for short.

tenacityflux · 10/12/2008 17:48

Really it's the MIL who calls her Daisy, and I think at the moment 'button' is coming out tops as a nick name as she has such a sweet nose. I call her Wednesday, and so does my DH, right now the girl in question is screaming with colic and I am typing with one hand, so is indeed full of woe, or wooooaargggghhwooooo to be precise. I don't like Wendy, it always makes me think of Hippo's bizzarely enough - and Wolf is a great name, it's very similar root to the name Rolf, but I prefer Wolf. Her middles names are Linda (my mum) Josephine ( His mum) and Nicole, the God mum, as I also like names which have a reason/story. My Father started the long names thing - his names was michael Darius Beford Leno Jonas - which is quite a legacy. Don't worry, if we have a son next it won't be Pugsley - that's not a nice word!

What about Pubert?

...btw I think Wednesday is lovely

NotanOtter · 10/12/2008 21:33

summer is like bummer

thumbElf · 10/12/2008 21:36

so long as you don't call any DS you might have Pugsley - I think that would be taking it too far.

thumbElf · 10/12/2008 21:37

dammit, I knew I should have read the last page before posting!

pointydog · 10/12/2008 21:51

i say wed-ns-day. Bit of a mouthful.

lunamoon2 · 10/12/2008 22:52

I like it but would not use it myself personally.
Always loved Tuesday Weld but didn't realise this was a made up stage name until very recently.

CocoaCloset · 10/12/2008 22:56

Love it

belgo · 11/12/2008 10:47

Stick to Wednesday, far more original then Daisy. Daisy is too girly.

NowICanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 11/12/2008 14:04

I like Domingo for a boy. If you have a boy will you please call him Domingo!! I'd really appreciate it, come back and tell us! (possible nn Dom) and Samedi does work in French, and your MIL could call him Sam!

storkycake · 11/12/2008 14:31

Wednesday is a beautiful, strong name. Daisy always strikes me as belonging to someone a bit, well..... simple, shall we say.

tenacityflux · 11/12/2008 21:02

Domingo! I do like it but It's not for me, and as DD is only 9 weeks old if she does get a brother before my eggs finally go past their sell by date, it won't be for a while yet!If she had been a boy she was going to be Findlay Micheal John Wynwilliam - which is similarly the Dads and God Fathers names - although I have since found out DH has a second cousin called Findlay so despite choosing it as it was my Great Grandfathers surname, I may have to think again - mind you, his father (My great great Grandfather) Was called Arthur Arbuckel Findlay - so what do we think about Arbuckel........

I love WEdnesday. I always thought I would consider that for a daughter

LoolaBoys · 11/12/2008 21:08

Quite like Arbuckle too, but I like wierd names

CoteDAzur · 11/12/2008 21:12

Is this thread for real?

tenacityflux · 12/12/2008 20:37

Yes, my daughter is called Wednesday and my Great Granderfather was Arthur Arbuckle, he was director of the Baltic shipping exchange in the late Victorian times, I think you can even google him!

Actually, Saturday would be a better choice. Much nicer day of the week and puts people in a good mood, whereas Wednesday is just a boring day in the middle of the week.

The best one IMO would be Sunday. Sunny for short.
And you can spell it Sundae to be original.

Or Sunny-Dee.

tenacityflux · 13/12/2008 13:39

But don't you think Saturday is a boys name?

OP posts:
vess · 13/12/2008 15:43

Saturday? It's unisex, of course. Nice, strong name.

tootyflooty · 13/12/2008 15:59

unuusal but not trashy, although what might the shortened version be?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 13/12/2008 16:00

Saturday is a shit name. It has a turd in the middle.

FrostytheSurfmum · 13/12/2008 16:03

ROFL @ Soupy .

That has to be quote of the week.
