Goodness - do you know someone called Humperdink?

periselene · 26/08/2008 12:29

Not this side of film and fiction. Purely a theoretical exercise. No reference to any person either living or deceased is intended by this thread.

scorpio1 · 26/08/2008 12:36

nice.

periselene · 26/08/2008 12:39

Yes, very inane, so nothing to get upset about.

OP posts:
BroccoliSpears · 26/08/2008 12:39

Scorpio have you always had a 1?

scorpio1 · 26/08/2008 12:39

I've never noticed it before.

scorpio1 · 26/08/2008 12:43

Scorpio was taken, so in haste i just put one on the end. Cannot be arsed to name change.

scottishmummy · 26/08/2008 12:43

likely someone will come along Ellie etc mum and get upset, so why do it?

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/08/2008 12:46

wtf is wrong with Millie,Polly etc - you may not like them but they are in no way terrible..you are being a tad extreme I think

periselene · 26/08/2008 12:48

Gerald, Clarence and Hector.

Laugh away, I don't mind.

Was it fun?

i am hormonal due to preg and i was devastated when there was a thread with my sons name on it and 90% of the peopel on it said how terrible/horrid/awful it was!
makes me think how many of my firends have lied saying it is a nice name when apparantly it is one of the most horrendous names in the world going by the thread i read!

periselene · 26/08/2008 12:52

MAS, it's a matter of opinion isn't it? My opinion is that the names are spoiled by extreme trendiness.

It's a bit extreme to get personal over a stranger's opinion, I would have thought

Love Colin. Very fond of Lily and Molly. Would definitely have used any of them.

Isn't it all down to experiences? I still wince when I hear Scott - how sad it that?

So, names that I am prejudiced against are:

Thomas (saw a brilliant assembly on why not to use this name)
Scott
Lee (family dog's name)
Fred (as above)
Graham (no reason whatsoever)

Judy (Punch and Judy - mind you, I love Judith)
Olive (my best friend hated her name and Olivia is so much prettier - oddly enough, I like Oliver, too)
Dolores (no one I know actually likes it when it is their name - Lola and Loli are nicer)
Raina (too like rana - frog)
Connie (bit like Graham - I just don't like it)

There again, I like Mercedes and yes, it is a make of car but it still sounds good to me - .

What type of popcorn have you got, Fimbo? I don't like the microwave stuff - msut be either scrummy M&S or from the pan.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 26/08/2008 12:54

Do you know any baby called Colin?
I know some really cool adults named Colin, but no babies. thought it was a "lost" name.
