I love Cordiana and Nilufahr. I know a Bronte but don't particularly like it. Knew a little boy called Zeno - very cool kid. I met a baby called Larkin and when I said "oh after the poet?" her mum said "who?"

I worked with someone whose sons were Maverick and Stetson.

Never met one but I love Kester.

I have a Lux, albeit it is one of her middle names. I fell in love in with it and she really suits it.

I met a little girl called Merry once which I thought was pretty cute.

I knew an adult Merry. Her name was Myrianthe but she was known to everyone as Merry.

I once taught a girl called Romany- I have never met another one of those. I really liked it but wondered whether the Roma community could potentially be offended by its use (the child was not from the community). But then you could argue it was a female version of Roman which I doubt many people take exception to.

Its funny as the "out there names" i once thought were too different are now names loads of my children's peers have.
With now 7 year old we wanted sonny but we thought it was too out there and we weren't "cool" enough. Met a few sonny's and sunnys since.
I have a 3 kids the first 2 have very beautiful and traditional names. Our Third is a baby and we went with Romy ,

That’s what I thought of too! I had an old boyfriend with a little cousin called Sunsaree (who would be about 30 now!). Always thought it was a beautiful name!

A good strong name. What about Granite, with Grit as a nickname?

I did actually meet a man called Granite once!

We were all wearing name badges and I thought I'd misheard when he introduced himself, so I snuck a peek. Nope. That was his name.

Mushr00mMagee · 27/07/2026 20:33

Pretty much any flower name I have ever heard and some trees!

My dc have ‘weird’ names. They’re local dialect ones so weird nationally but not so much where we live.

Met an adorable baby called Lux once and I instantly thought what an amazing name to have. The single syllable + x sound is really pleasing to my ear.

Love the name Lux too but couldn't use as it's the main character in virgin suicides.

Mumofgirls2017 · 27/07/2026 22:13

i struggle to comprehend how you came round to rhyno 🤨 maybe just my taste!

Giraffehaver · 27/07/2026 22:35

Lemuel I love. Only 2 letters different to Samuel but not as popular. I wonder why?

EstoyRobandoSuCasa · 27/07/2026 22:37

I met a baby Wilbur about five years ago. I really liked his name - it's a bit different, but not in a wacky way. Slightly longer ago, I met a baby girl called Vienna and thought it was a lovely name. OK, I probably will meet another Vienna at some point, but haven't so far.

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 27/07/2026 22:45

I knew a Tasey ( girl) could be Tazey I guess. And a Nuala . Loved both those names.
