How many Oscars (nick name Ozzy) do you know?

I know the name Oscar is very popular at the moment. We really like it as it is such a lovely name but also really love Ozzy as a nickname.

Just wondering how many Ozzy’s people know (in real life.. so not Ozzy Osbourne haha).

thanks

Not a single one

TheWitchwithNoName · 22/03/2026 07:18

not helpful but my cat is called Ozzy

MiddleAgedDread · 22/03/2026 07:22

know of one (son of a colleague, he’s about 10 or 11)

Janefx40 · 22/03/2026 07:22

I know 2 aged around 3

Brewtiful · 22/03/2026 07:22

I know lots of Oscars under 10 at least 20 if not more but not one of them is called Ozzy. I think Oscar is one of those names where it's rarely shortened.

Aur0raAustralis · 22/03/2026 07:27

I know a few Oscars but none of them get called Ozzy.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 22/03/2026 07:27

Three, I think. And they are all called Ozzy.

MayasJamas · 22/03/2026 07:28

High school teacher. There are 1-2 Oscars per year group.

EmpressaurusKitty · 22/03/2026 07:29

One, who’s about four & is called the whole thing.

ThatJoyousScroller · 22/03/2026 07:32

Teacher, lots of Oscar’s none called Ozzy but 95% of Oscar’s in my experience are a pain. It’s one of those names where you know you might be in for a difficult year l.

wow so many replies already. Thanks all. Currently being induced and trying to decide on the final name choice whilst we kill time 🤣

What else is on your list. Honestly Oscar is so popular they become one of the crowd and sort of all merge together.

Just the one, who is my Nephew. Never called Ozzy.
Editing to add, after seeing PPs post! - he's a very sweet, sort of quiet, sensitive child. Very feeling of others.

namechange7891011 · 22/03/2026 07:36

@Brewtiful our second name choice is Alexander nick name Alex. We were set on Alexander the whole pregnancy but have been having second thoughts on it. Oscar is really the only other name we like.

My grandson is an Ozzy

SockQueen · 22/03/2026 07:37

There's one in DS1's year 4 class. I think 2, maybe 3 in DS2's year 2 year group (90 kids). All Oscar, not Ozzy though.

And my very new nephew, born on Friday! ❤

Listlostlast · 22/03/2026 07:38

One, I think. I actually don’t know many little Oscars. I do know an Austin nn ozzy though.

dozer222 · 22/03/2026 07:38

Love Ozzy

WhatAMarvelousTune · 22/03/2026 07:39

There are three Oscars in my DD’s preschool.

Personally I much prefer Alexander.

I really tried to avoid names that were having a “moment” so that’s what would put me off Oscar. Some people, quite reasonably, don’t mind about that sort of thing, so depends whether you’re fussed.

Gagamama2 · 22/03/2026 07:39

2, age 6 and 8. Neither called ozzy though

amy480 · 22/03/2026 07:40

I know x 3 aged 2-4 (none get shortened to Ozzy). No little Oscars in any of my baby groups.

hope it all goes well!

Gagamama2 · 22/03/2026 07:40

Much prefer Oscar / Ozzy to Alexander / Alex. It’s got more personality to it

SuperMarioToadPrincessPeach · 22/03/2026 07:41

Not sure I know any Ozzys, one maybe?

But I know sooo may Oscars. I think there’s about 6 in my DC’s year at school and two of my friends have Oscars.
