I love Cesare for boys (Chezz-a-ray) but couldn't use it in the UK. Why am I not Italian!

Rosaline/Rosalind and Laura always sound lovely.

For my gap year, I travelled to Australia to work on a stud farm with a lady named Wendy. She was expecting her 3rd child and after collecting me from the airport was discussing names on the drive home. Idiot girl here said 'just so long as you don't name her Gwen-do-lyn (like Rowan Atkinson would have said it, iyswim). Turns out Wendy was short for Gwendolen, which was also her grandmother's, mother's AND daughter's name. It was also the name of her foundation brood mare, her favourite dog and her horsebox.
I quite like Gwendolen now but the memory still makes me feel ill.

Names I think beautiful- Leonora, Rosalind, Dorcas, Alice, Elisabeth, Marianne, Juliet.
My autocorrect replaced Dorcas with Doncaster, so that's probably out.

For boys I love Alexander, Hamish, Ludovic, Roland, Torsten, Benedict. Didn't use any of them though....

Estelle, Elise, Clementine, Clara all sound like they should belong to beautiful women inside and out.

Sorry to the Sebastian fans out there but I always think Sebastard in my head and picture a 1980s city boy.

All the Robin's I have known have been of good character. Elliot also sounds like they would be a decent guy.

I think Vivienne and Briony are beautiful names. I also used to love Ghislaine (the girl I knew pronounced it Zhees-layn) but I've gone off that more recently.

Rowan and Robin are beautiful boys names.

My aunt knew someone called Kyrie and I was OBSESSED with that as a teen. Pronounced kind of like Kyerry-ay.

Oh also when I worked in a call center an ancient lady called Oenone rang once and we had a nice conversation about how cool her name was. Ee-NO-nee.

Zebedee from the Magic Roundabout is called Zebulon in the original version.

ponyinmypocket · 02/03/2026 19:33

Calliope

And I love the Arabic name Ghalia, if pronounced properly! We would have named our daughter this but DH can pronounce it perfectly (native tongue) and I make it sound like the melon.

BestBefore2000 · 02/03/2026 19:35
