His full name would be James to give him options but we'd call him Jamie.

Love it

MotherJessAndKittens · 13/01/2026 23:53

Love it. About time it came back!

salcombebabe · 13/01/2026 23:57

Love it! And love that he'll be James but called Jamie

Crispynoodle · 14/01/2026 00:02

I had a fabulous student called Jamie who is now finishing his uni degree so I love the name

HowAboutNowJane · 14/01/2026 00:04

The 90s/early 00s.

Needspaceforlego · 14/01/2026 00:07

I know Jamie's in their 50s and 20s.
I know lots of Jim's 40+
Jimmy a fair few who are 60+ and one in their 20s.
James I know a few kids who are James. Its a biblical timeless classic.

I prefer James & Jimmy to Jamie but that is MY preference.
To me there's Something childish about Jamie but at the same time I can't imagine a toddler Jimmy or Jim.

SusanSometimes · 14/01/2026 00:07

I love it, but I have a cautionary tale. I called my son James intending him to go by Jamie but it didn't stick, possibly because my DH preferred James. As an adult, my son insists on James. He'll just about tolerate Jamesey, but never goes by Jamie. So I hope you can get it to stick!

OMGitsnotgood · 14/01/2026 00:10

Love James and Jamie. You won’t have control over their names as they get older so be prepared for it to become Jim or Jimmy in the future. Neither of which I like as much as James or Jamie .

Needspaceforlego · 14/01/2026 00:16

I know one who is James to his family always, but Jimmy to everyone he met as an adult.

Allbymyself123 · 14/01/2026 00:25

I like the name. Think it’ll see a revival. James was my grandads name & i liked it for my son (not Jamie) but my husband wasn’t keen so it’s his middle name. Solid name. Won’t be as popular nowadays as it was say in the 80s or 90s but he won’t stand out for it being weird either.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 14/01/2026 00:28

I know a 9 year old Jamie
It's really lovely

patooties · 14/01/2026 00:33

Love it.

MidnightMeltdown · 14/01/2026 00:37

There were lots of Jamie’s when I was at school in the 90s. To me it’s a bit chavy, but that’s probably because of the people I associate with having that name more than anything else.

ColdWeatherWarning · 14/01/2026 00:39

Honestly? Jamie was the nonce who ruined my life.

James, Jim, Jimmy are all fine, lovely names, but Jamie always makes me uncomfortable.

LeonMccogh · 14/01/2026 00:40

Everybody’s talking about him

HoseGoblin · 14/01/2026 00:42

I know three Jamie's and oddly enough they're all young women. I think it had a bit of a renaissance as a girl's name in the 00's.

Its cute though, uncommon enough that he'll probably be the only one in his class, but not unusual enough that he'll stick out like a sore thumb, and lots of options for alternative nicknames if he doesn't like Jamie as he gets older.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 14/01/2026 01:39

Absolutely love it.

Pettenell · 14/01/2026 01:46

I like Jamie as a nn for James.

Zephyrcrossing · 14/01/2026 03:46

I love the name Jamie.
I've only ever known one and that was a boy I went to school with.
James is very nice too but Jamie is just lovely!

Happy2024 · 14/01/2026 06:04

Yes, lovely

Dolamroth · 14/01/2026 06:20

Classic, really nice.

brittanyfairies · 14/01/2026 06:30

My DS was a Jamie, when he got to about 15/16 he decided that he preferred James which is what everyone, except me, calls him now. I still call him Jamie or Jimma (because he's my 21 year old baby).

BCBird · 14/01/2026 06:34

Teacher here. Reminds me naughty boys🤣it's a name i never associate with an adult. If the actual name is James this could be used professionally if desired i suppose. James a classic name.

landlordhell · 14/01/2026 06:36

Dislike as a given name. Sounds a bit child like. Can’t imagine e a 70 year old Jamie. James is my favourite name

FaceDownInAPuddle · 14/01/2026 06:36

A bit feminine, not that there is anything wrong with that. Seems like a child's rather than a man's name.
