His full name would be James to give him options but we'd call him Jamie.

Lovely family member, lovely school friends, lovely colleague. I really like the name Jamie for a boy

Go for the Irish version Seamus (pronounced SHAY-MUS) or just Shea for short.

oh yeah Seamus is great.

Like it a lot. Makes me think of the hunky Highlander in Outlander

Floundering66 · 14/01/2026 12:47

Love James and think Jamie is a nice nickname. First though it’s Jamie Lannister, followed by Outlander.

anotheryeargoesby · 14/01/2026 12:49

Naughty boy name. James is nice though.

hohahagogo · 14/01/2026 12:49

My husband!

Without sounding ignorant, who is that handsome hunk of a man you’ve posted?

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. If you want to see more of him, he plays Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones and William the Conqueror in King and Conqueror, amongst other things.

Gettingbysomehow · 14/01/2026 15:41

A nice wholesome lad popular with everyone.

missymousey · 14/01/2026 15:57

There were lots of Jamies at school with me who were nice boys mostly (1980s/90s). I know a few child Jamies now and they're girls.

HarvestMouseandGoldenCups · 14/01/2026 15:57

Lannister.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 14/01/2026 16:05

“Settle down now Jamie, come on Wordsworth - out of there”.

pouletvous · 14/01/2026 16:08

Prefer Jimmy

Mugtree · 14/01/2026 16:09

I think it's sweet in a small child but all the Jamies I've known who've grown up to responsible adults reverted to James once their careers took off. The ones who still use Jamie still think their childishness and irresponsibility is sweet.

I do know a lot of Jameses

CoffeeChocolateWine · 14/01/2026 16:12

It brings to mind my DBro! He is a James but always known as Jamie although uses James professionally. It’s a great name 😊

ZiggyZowie · 14/01/2026 16:13

I've got a Jamie, full name James.

He's now 30 and although we've always called him Jamie he says he prefers James and that's what his work mates call him.

He feels Jamie is too childish now.

Samdelila · 14/01/2026 16:18

I like it, but James is better.

RegalDiamondMonster · 14/01/2026 16:40

Really like Jamie. Dislike James actually, knew a less than nice James and there's something bland and stuffy about it.

Whosthetabbynow · 14/01/2026 17:02

Lovely name ❤️

Tiredofwhataboutery · 14/01/2026 17:04

Ive known a fair few Jamie’s I tend to associate with burly Scottish blokes.

Onefortheroad25 · 14/01/2026 17:07

I love the name Jamie! Would have been a runner if we’d had another boy.
I picture someone cool, fun, popular, sporty and good looking. Jamie’s are almost always good looking! ☺️

downunder50 · 14/01/2026 17:53

Jamie and the Magic Torch - showing my age there. Love James/Jamie.

NotMeNoNo · 14/01/2026 18:00

I think James is the perfect name. It's timeless and classless. Jamie is a great diminutive. The only problem might be it's too popular as it's never been out of top 20.

brightnails · 14/01/2026 18:20

the 80s and it being a girls name

PickleSarnie · 16/01/2026 22:28

I've never met a Jamie that wasn't nice.

But I do always get the (excellent) theme tune for this stuck in my head....

There were a few Jamies in school with my DS (born early 2000’s). I like it.
