Opinions on Kodie?

What sort of image do you get from the name Kodie? It is our top choice for our daughter, likely with the middle name of Anne or Margaret. My friend said she thought it was a boys name at first so thought I’d try consulting a name forum. Thanks all.

Sounds like a boys name to me, and very Kardashian - not in a good way. Sorry - but assume you want genuine opinions!

Sorry OP, but it isn’t great. I only know Cody as a boys’ name, and with the spelling of ‘Cody’. The name Kodie will be judged unfortunately.

Your daughter would spend her entire life spelling her name out and fielding questions about why her parents chose this spelling. She may turn out like me and be a very impatient person who gets tired of having to do this. I would have hated it.

It's not to my taste at all, especially spelt with a K.

When I was younger, Codie was a girls name. Now it seems pretty much all Codys are boys. It's one of those names which seems to have switched in gender usage. I think most people will assume boy these days, upon first hearing it.

Makes me think of names like Kris, Kourtney and Khloe

I have known two Cody's.
Both female although one was fictional (Cody Willis on Neighbours).
Personally I think it's ok for boys and girls.
I would spell it as Cody though.

Absolutely not. It’s okay to want to have an unusual name for your daughter but picking a boys name that will need continual spelling and has negative connotations isn’t okay:

Kodie? Sorry but the spelling makes me uncomfortable. Never heard it as a girl’s name and would expect Kodie to be a boy.
