Opinions on Kodie?

What sort of image do you get from the name Kodie? It is our top choice for our daughter, likely with the middle name of Anne or Margaret. My friend said she thought it was a boys name at first so thought I’d try consulting a name forum. Thanks all.

Cody is a scally boys name.

Kodie for a girl is just cruel.

schoolsoutforever · 12/11/2025 20:57

I'm not keen on the name - sorry. Agree with most others that it's more of a boys' name although have never met one in the UK. If you are American it may be more on point.

PInkyStarfish · 12/11/2025 20:58

Bloody awful.

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/11/2025 21:06

Oh Christ, not with a K - tacky. I know a Cody (girl), which is at least a better spelling.

Zempy · 12/11/2025 21:10

Assuming this isn’t a joke, no. Dreadful.

SpottyAardvark · 12/11/2025 21:10

Kodie is ‘the opposite of posh’, to put it as politely as possible.

As a general rule, I wouldn’t pick a name for a baby which I couldn’t imagine being an adult in a senior leadership position being called. And I couldn’t imagine a government minister or CEO called Kodie.

cocoromo · 12/11/2025 21:13

It’s tacky and chavvy to me. Sorry don’t like it.

Moreteaandchocolate · 12/11/2025 21:13

Cadi is nice for a girl (Welsh name)?

Cody I only know as a boy’s name, spelt this way.

luckylavender · 12/11/2025 21:14

Sounds like an awful boy’s name

PracticalPixie · 12/11/2025 21:15

Sounds like Cody which is a boy's name I do not care for. I do not like the K spelling.

Similar but nicer (imo)

Riley
Rory
Blake

Squirrelsnut · 12/11/2025 21:17

Good Lord, no.

beadystar · 12/11/2025 21:18

It feels very trailer park. You’re naming an adult woman, remember.

BobbyBrewstersMagicTorch · 12/11/2025 21:30

I would think it was a boy. Awful spelling too.

HaughtyAndCold · 12/11/2025 21:31

I really dislike it, sorry

HausofHolbein · 12/11/2025 21:37

What about Cordelia - NN Cordy?

evtheria · 12/11/2025 21:42

Cody is okay… very 90s, American teen… that’s all I’d think if I heard it, I wouldn’t necessarily go ‘oh I like that name’ nor would I think ‘oh that’s an awful name’.

Kodie isn’t great. Why spell it like that, if you still want people to say it like Cody (which many won’t, they’ll say code-die)? Or did you think of the name Jodie but want a different version…?

RumpleDumple · 12/11/2025 21:51

No! Just ... NO

RuncibleSpoons · 12/11/2025 21:53

It’s absolutely terrible.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 12/11/2025 21:58

It gives a very different impression to the two classic matches middle names you like. Maybe you could think of something that goes better with those?

Clearinguptheclutter · 12/11/2025 21:59

Unless a Kardashian, it’s awful. Sorry

Cody is ok and sort of androgynous. Usually a boy but there was a girl Cody on neighbours (showing my age as it was an extremely long time ago!)

WolfieMuma · 12/11/2025 22:00

Probably the worst name I’ve ever seen on here

clary · 12/11/2025 22:05

I am not a fan sorry.

I also thought it was a boy's name at first – I have known a Cody (boy) and a Kobi (also boy) so maybe that's why.

If you like the sound of it, how about:
Cora
Callista nn Callie
Dorothy nn Dodie
Josie
Sadie
Jodie

(trying to pick up some of the sounds in Kodie).

TemuTrinny · 12/11/2025 22:06

The image I get is what I would feel if I saw that name on a class list. I’d think “oh fuck, here we go”. It’s a naughty boy name.

What about Kady?

Uptipp2025 · 12/11/2025 22:08

I know 2 Cody’s
1: my ex husbands surname
2: Kody sister wives so it’s a no from me

honeyfox · 12/11/2025 22:10

No, not after watching Sister Wives from the start.
