Tabitha or Paloma?

Evening!

I have two daughters: Matilda & Jemima.

Which of these names would you name their baby sister who is due later this year? Both names go well with our surname.

Matilda, Jemima & Tabitha

or

Matilda, Jemima & Paloma

Struggling for nicknames for Paloma, but have lots for Tabitha. Our daughters are called by their full names by our/ their friends. Although Matilda does get Tilda/Tildy at home and Jemima gets Jemi/Jem.

Any other suggestions? We would like another 3 syllable name that ends in ‘a’.

TIA xx

Tabitha.

Paloma is Spanish for Pigeon.

Gruffporcupine · 15/10/2025 20:50

I really like both names but feel like Tabitha just "goes" with your other girls names.

Tabby or Bitta is a very cute nickname

Mandarinaduck · 15/10/2025 20:50

They are both lovely names. I prefer Tabitha personally.

Definitely Tabitha

Meem321 · 15/10/2025 20:55

Tabitha is better with the other 2 names.

Paloma is Spanish for dove. Which is lovely

NorthernDancer · 15/10/2025 21:13

Paloma is lovely, plus it's a proper name and is not over-used. If you use it, the nickname will come organically in time.

Thingyfanding1 · 15/10/2025 21:14

Tabitha all the way

schoolsoutforever · 15/10/2025 21:16

Tabitha is lovely. I have taught a few Tabithas over the years, all lovely. Paloma is a pretty name but I find it strangely dramatic. Tabitha not so at all.

intrepidpanda · 15/10/2025 21:22

Tabitha

I love these names but I think having a Jemima and a Tabitha sounds a bit too Beatrix Potter.

Tabitha.

Paloma is Spanish for Pigeon.

I think it's Spanish for Dove which sounds much better than pigeon!

Wasn't Picasso's daughter called Paloma?

Blueuggboots · 15/10/2025 22:01

What about Allegria (joy in Spanish)? But I also love Tabitha.

fairycupcakes · 15/10/2025 22:04

I love Paloma - her nn could be Dove!

I do think Tabitha does feel more in keeping with Matilda & Jemima though! (All beautiful names)

ApricotCheesecake · 15/10/2025 22:06

Tabitha

Moreteaandchocolate · 15/10/2025 22:14

Tabitha is perfect with Matilda and Jemima! As long as you don’t mind potentially having a Tilly and a Tabby!
