It was number 36 the year I was given it
It was acceptable in the 80s
It's a bit French
It's also a little bit Essex
Most people shorten it

I four letter palindrome......coming back into popularity now I think but don't actually know another. I do have a double-barreled first name but don't use it. That name is I think I song by???? - born late 1972....

Very popular in the 60s until mid 70s - I’m nearly 50 and don’t know anyone younger than me with the name.
I know about 12 people with the same name and there’s a very famous painting (and song).

Think of two common traditional Christian names (Catholic?). Join them but not in alphabetical order. Then give a foreign, more European flavour.

I have had every male teacher with the exception of two, sing this famous hit song with my name as the title within a week or two of class starting, my entire life. I am old.

Mine used to be typically irish surname. Can be more common as a boys name in other countries. I was one of 3 girls with my name at school in the early 90s. Commonly goes with Anne as a middle name. Was the name of a tv soap character in the late 70s when i was born.

I know a baby named Gillian. I think it’s quite sweet but it might just be because I’m a big Gillian Anderson fan.

I’ve come across my name twice in my life. My parents chose it because it was very popular in Scotland when they lived there in the 80’s. It’s a Scottish variant of a common name.

There are quite a few variants with different spelling and pronunciation. And actress from a film franchise based on a series of books has an American variation.
