My name has a male and female variant
It was number 36 the year I was given it
It was acceptable in the 80s
It's a bit French
It's also a little bit Essex
Most people shorten it

I've got one, not my name but my DHs great great aunt.

She's a witch in books, at least two separate books series, and a film adaptation of one.

Mildred?

Yes, I do. Even people I know, sometimes type Daniel. Especially when there is a language or cultural barrier. In France Daniel is said as Dan-e-yul, very similar to British Danielle pronunciation.
We tend to say Dan-yell here, but some say Dan-e-yell which I think is more similar to the European Daniele or Danielle

In France Daniel is said as Dan-e-yul it's not. They say Dan-Yell.
very similar to British Danielle pronunciation That's Dan-YELL.

Similar, but the stress on the yell is far more pronounced in British Danielle.

Danielle isn’t pronounced in England as Dan-yell, at least not where I am from.
