For nn Nell, you could have Lenora, Leonora, Helen, Ellen, Cornelia, Esmerelda, as well as the more usual choices.

BeaLola · 15/08/2025 18:08

I don't really like any on your list

If I could only use the names I on that list I would choose Rosalind but that's with a gun to my head

I like Isla, Rosa and Ruby. Don't like the others. Ocean, Teigen, Karenza, Demelza and Guinevere in particular all sound tacky to me, I'm afraid.

Justenjoyingthegarden · 15/08/2025 18:17

I was at school with a Kerenza or Kerensa, I think it's nice with this spelling.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 15/08/2025 21:55

Isla OK
Alma old lady
Rosa good

mummysmagicmedicine · 18/08/2025 17:59

Isla- beautiful, DN is Isla but has had teachers etc call her iss - la
Alma- not for me
Rosa- stunning, known and not too popular and works for all ages
Ruby- same with Rosa
Nell- I absolutely adore but would have it short for Penelope personally
Rosalind- bit dated for me
Romilly- she will get called ‘Row milly’ potentially
Ocean- beautiful
Nelly- prefer Nell personally
Elowen- beautiful
Teigan- chavvy
Karenza- not a fan
Demelza- reminds me of a combination of dementia and Alzheimer’s 🙈
Lillian- prefer Lily or Lila
Guinevere- absolutely stunning.

ThatWhiteElephant · 18/08/2025 18:33

From your list I love Nell.
Not really keen on the rest.

Romily
Ruby
Nell
all lovely, the rest not so

DemBonesDemBones · 18/08/2025 20:27

Of all of them Nelly is my favourite. Ocean is awful, totally the opposite vibe to the others on your list.

mathanxiety · 18/08/2025 20:50

Isla - too popular
Alma - love the Germanic feel
Rosa - far preferable to Rose imo, and also has a Germanic vibe, really nice
Ruby - a bit 'retired showgirl' for me
Nell - 'death knell'; a big no imo
Rosalind - a bit Jolly Hockey Sticks
Romilly - can't see the attraction if this name
Ocean - the French Oceane is lovely; not keen on English 'Ocean'
Nelly - love Nellie, not keen on the Y spelling
Elowen - really nice but might become Ellie
Teigan - looks fake Irish; huge no (speaking as an Irish poster)
Karenza - I'd spell it Kerenza; lovely name
Demelza - Poldark/ no
Lillian - a bit 'great aunt' but not in a good way
Guinevere - lovely, has a bit of a Goth feel to it

So, I like:
Alma
Rosa
Nellie
Kerenza
Guinevere

And possibly Elowen.

MondeoFan · 18/08/2025 20:54

Isla - way too overused now, fast becoming the Ava’s, Evie’s
Nell - fab,fab,fab
Ruby - great
Rosalind - fantastic with Rosa for short

RobertaFirmino · 18/08/2025 21:09

WRT Nell/Nelly the playground is unkind. Smelly Nelly. Also the aforementioned elephant. I'm not sure endless comparison to an elephant is good for a girl's self esteem.

OneNeatBlueOrca · 18/08/2025 21:13

Isla - too overused
Alma - not bad
Rosa - prefer Rose
Ruby - too overused.
Nell - not keen
Rosalind - really like this one.
Romilly - not bad
Ocean - just no
Nelly - no. Nelly the elephant.
Elowen - nice
Teigan - don't like it.
Karenza - don't like it
Demelza - really like this
Lillian - i really like this
Guinevere - nice but I prefer genevieve.

Dearover · 18/08/2025 21:14

Are you Cornish? Kerensa, Elowen & Demelza are fine if you are but a bit of a weird choice if you live elsewhere.

ImAPreMadonna · 18/08/2025 21:18

Isla - Isla Man. Strong dislike.
Alma - Alma mater. Strong dislike.
Rosa - it’s a bit dull. Not keen.
Ruby - too common in all senses of the word.
Nell - like as a nickname but not a fan of Elenor.
Rosalind - makes me think of dull brown colours.
Romilly - cute for a small child. Not an adults name
Ocean - Billy or the chain of clubs?
Nelly - really dislike. Kid off Towie and elephants.
Elowen - dull
Teigan - same as Ruby
Karenza - where is this from?
Demelza - AWFUL.
Lillian - dull
Guinevere - really like but it’s quite the name to live up to.

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 18/08/2025 21:21

Isla nice but popular
Alma quite nice
Rosa nice
Ruby nice
Nell not for me just don’t think it has any positivity.
Rosalind not keen, no idea why.
Romilly quite nice.
Ocean not unless she will be a free spirited, artistic type, too much to live up to.
Nelly awful, I think Elephant.
Elowen don’t know anyone called this.
Teigan not my vibe but ok if you like this sort of name.
Karenza don’t know anyone called this. Reminds me of Karen.
Demelza like it.
Lillian really like this. Best on your list.
Guinevere hmmm not sure. Again a strong name with a lot to live up to.

Iris2020 · 18/08/2025 21:21

Isla - like but currently overused

mintydoggyv · 18/08/2025 21:23

Ruby , my new niece has been called that in Oxford

heartsinvisiblefury · 18/08/2025 21:27

I think they’re all beautiful names

Cinnabonswirl · 18/08/2025 21:30

Isla - boring
Alma - I’d assume you’re Spanish. I think it’s frumpy though
Rosa - boring
Ruby - fine
Nell - awful
Rosalind - parents are either a bit posh or trying to be posh
Romilly - parents fancy themselves a bit quirky. I do like it though.
Ocean - parents fancy themselves as very quirky.
Nelly - the elephant
Elowen - I like it.
Teigan - American, bit tacky.but happy to be corrected that it’s from somewhere else
Karenza - I’ve never heard this before, I’d wonder what nationality it is. But it’s a bit Karen which I wouldn’t want to lump a kid with.
Demelza - parents fancy themselves a bit gothy. Though I do really like it.
Lillian - parents possibly gothy but less overtly.
Guinevere - bit posh.

Rosalind - no (i don’t like the roz sound)
Romilly - lovely

Ocean - it’s cringe

Teigan - too mid American and really dislike the spelling

mintydoggyv · 18/08/2025 22:03
