Hilda - I love it !

BootballJoy · 01/07/2025 18:17

I think it'll be names like Barbara, Margaret, Joan. Maybe Ethel, Phyllis, Anne, Gertie, Marjorie, Bertha, Sylvia.

Basically same era as the current Elsie, Ada, Vivienne, Mabel but on the less pretty side.

I wish Beryl would make a comeback but the bikes might have killed it off:(

I feel like those names are already very much back and already considered pretty again. Lovely names all.

Yes to Anne and Joan! I can definitely see those making a comeback, simple and very usable.

So long as it's not Silence!

shoopshoopdedoo · 01/07/2025 22:08

Love Joan and Jean. Also Beryl, Margaret, Mavis, Maud.

Graters · 01/07/2025 22:13

I think we'll see variations on 1940s/50s names with the nickname version being prominent. Like with the Alfie/Freddy/Teddy trend for boys

Jane but maybe as Janey/Janie, or varients like Janet and Janine
Joan but maybe as Joanie/Joni
Elaine (Lainey?!)
Margaret (Maggie/Peggy)
Susan (Suzy)

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 01/07/2025 22:21

Sylvia is definitely around. I met a little one with Margaret as a middle name recently and Edith is fairly popular I would say. Definitely seems to be that era coming back though often in nickname form, especially for boys (Frankie rather than Frank).

My daughter's first and middle name feature on here as positive ones which is nice because her first name is usually ridiculed on here.
