The classic “Queenly” names that are still quite out of fashion-
Margaret
Mary
Jane
Caroline
Catherine (even this one’s been out the Top 100 for over 20 years now!)

Most have trendy nicknames (Maggie/Greta, May, Callie, Kitty etc) as well as some amazing historical namesakes so I’m not sure why they are still so underused.

I love a virtue name.
Patience, Mercy, Constance, Joy... And my very favourite Blythe.

Honour is lovely. They work well as middle names for the less brave.

I forgot Frances and Agatha!

Love older names. Most modern choices are ghastly!

BatsInSpring · 02/07/2025 06:51

I've always liked Julia and Juliet.
When you think about Julie though outside if its moment in fashion time, it's really beautiful.
Definitely one that will shine again!

Jean is a fabulous name. Sounds so classy, I always imagine some willowy model type. With a Jean Seberg pixie hair style!

Names like Susan, Sarah, Julie, Jean, Valerie, Janet, Stephen, Cecil, Peter I reckon.

My daughter has one of these names Grin

EmotionallyWeird · 02/07/2025 08:18

I really like Jane, Frances, Elizabeth and Sarah (Sarah was on my shortlist for a DD 20+ years ago but I didn't have one), and Susan is growing on me.

chaiselozenges · 02/07/2025 08:34

Thora, I really like it.

DrLucyVanPelt · 02/07/2025 08:50

I have an 8 year old Sally and we've never met another one her age! I love it, a sunny, happy name.

It might be popular 70s/80s names that start to come through:
Joanne
Claire
Angela
Nicola
Samantha
Lisa
Andrea
Natalie
Kirsty
Linda
Kimberly
Melanie
Amanda

Karen might not reappear due to recent uses, which is a shame as I think it's quite a nice name in it's own right!

Ivytheterrible2025 · 02/07/2025 09:46

Names I would love to see come back from my era would be;

Joanna
Nicola
Heather
Kerry
Kelly

I absolutely love Kerry and Kelly. I think they are due a comeback.

I also love Emma and Lucy which seem timeless - I know them of all ages ranging from 50's to young girls.

Cheeseplantandcrackers · 02/07/2025 09:55

Nina and Olive

legolegoeverywhereandnotadroptodrink · 02/07/2025 10:23

I love Frances! Why is it so underused? shortened to Frank, Fran, Frankie

I love Kelly! It's so stylish, makes me think of the handbags and of Autumn Kelly and Grace Kelly.

I like Louise and Marie.

Yes! Vicki is dated but Vita (as in Sackville-West) is a fashionable nickname, so I’m not sure why Victoria is dropping rapidly now too 🤷‍♀️

It’s funny how the Kings names (other than John) tend to stay relatively popular - William, Henry, James, Edward, George etc even Charles has only recently dropped out the Top 100 after always being there historically.

Thora, I really like it.

Thora was on my list for DD but got vetoed by DH. Went with something that rhymes with it so it’s ruled out forever now which is a shame because I loved it.

Also had Agatha, Elspeth, Maud, Gloria and Enid on my list but none made the cut. Hadn’t realised how old fashioned my name taste was until right now!
