Surname.

Spelt Kennedy, maybe use as a middle name to follow tradition.

Heffa · 20/05/2008 16:59

I quite like it, I've heard it used as a girls name before. I'd spell it Kennedy though. Fits nicely with the names of your other DCs too.

nerdgirl · 20/05/2008 17:00

Saltire,

I'd say only a small percentage of the Cinnéides in Eire are of Scots origin (think it's different in the North though).

I know the name originated in both countries independently but the Irish name goes back to Brian Boru doesn't it?

Quattrocento · 20/05/2008 17:02

Oh dear

WrongSideOfTwenty · 20/05/2008 17:04

I don't like it sorry, you did ask for opinions

Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it is a bad name, whatever you choose poeple will dislike it. I would go with a Y at the end as I hate names which have weird spellings.

hifi · 20/05/2008 17:16

chavtastic

AbbeyA · 20/05/2008 17:19

Sorry-I hate names that are incorrectly spelt. I also can't see the point of giving a surname as a first name.

sweetkitty · 20/05/2008 17:26

I am in the I don't know category minipink

I do know a Kennedy that gets called Eddy for short. I think I am more a fan of girls having traditional girly names.

But at the end of the day if you like it go for it.

TheFallenMadonna · 20/05/2008 17:32

OK. Dispassionately?

If I were looking at a register, Kennedi/Kenedi would make me think it was a girl. Kennedy would leave me guessing until your dd appeared. But then Taylor would also keep me guessing. And Mackenzie

The -i would also make me raise my eyebrows a tad. Of course when actual children appear in front of you, their names and the spelling of their names is irrelevant, but before that happened, I would think

First impressions not that important at school, but more important elsewhere, and I think I would prefer the ? at Kennedy rather than the at Kennedi/Kenedi, IYSWIM.

bluefox · 20/05/2008 17:33

Sorry but another one here who dislikes surnames as first names.

AbbeyA · 20/05/2008 17:36

Why not have a surname for a second name? However, I think that you should have some family connection to it.

cece · 20/05/2008 17:40

Sorry don't like it but it does go with your other names. Follows the theme sort of. Howeverm please spell it with a y it looks very odd with an i.

Slightly different but similar; Kendal

allgonebellyup · 20/05/2008 17:42

Sorry i dont like it at all. But then you lost me at Jaydan too.

ElizabethBeresford · 20/05/2008 18:13

I hate it because it is an Irish surname which means ugly head. It happened to be the sur name of a president, so I guess if parents had used this name for a boy 40 yrs ago, out of their political beliefs, it wouldn't have been my cup of tea, but I wouldn't have thought it was tacky.

I don't get the trend for giving girls the names of former American presidents, and then spelling it wrong to be different

Plus. There is a roller barbie called Kennedy. Kennedy, Madison,,,, !

kittywise · 20/05/2008 18:17

It's one of the most awful names I have come across, sorry but you asked.

Cecy · 20/05/2008 18:17

It wouldn't be my personal taste, but it does match your naming style.
I dislike the fact that it is a surname (misspelled) and the nickname Ken for a girl is just peculiar.

Quattrocento · 20/05/2008 18:18

I do instantly think tattoos actually

which is a bit unpleasant (of me)

pointydog · 20/05/2008 18:19

I think I really don't like it. Especially the fact it ends in 'i'

ElizabethBeresford · 20/05/2008 18:19

PS I don't always hate names just because they are sur names, just that people always use the same ones.

Bellamy and Shelby and Sheridan would all be quite nice. And Kinsella! There's another Irish sur name that is so much more feminine than Kennedy. Kinsella would be lovely.

With it's beginning "Kinn" it probably means something else head too if you see what I mean. Or maybe something about family? Whatever, better than ugly!

Nerdgirl, you know what Kinsella means?

Hulababy · 20/05/2008 18:20

It isn;t my personal choice, but if you like it use it - it goes with the other names you have.

allgonebellyup · 20/05/2008 18:22

i love the fact that it means "ugly head".

What more can i say??

allgonebellyup · 20/05/2008 18:24

And i love the way everyone says they dont like it - but that it goes with all the rest of your names!!!!!!!

are you insulted yet?!

pagwatch · 20/05/2008 18:25

oh gosh. It really is quite dreadful.
As you asked.

But you really must only choose to suit you and your family. If you love it....

tegan · 20/05/2008 18:25

I am due in november and have kennedy/kennedi on the list for a girl or a boy but dh isn't keen.

I love it but i think sh has chosen devon and isn't going to shift.

forevercleaning · 20/05/2008 18:26

dreadful name - sorry, but you have asked
