Op I actually feel really bad about this thread having just re-seen your actual post.

I kind of just joined in without reading it properly and I think the answers have been really unfair.

I see now you were NOT asking for any colour OR any et/ett ending, but rather just colour names - which means most of our silly ( though sometimes funny!) suggestions were just nonsensical.

I also see you already HAVE a Scarlett snd Violett so I understand what you are trying to do and also apologise going on that Violett would be better without the second t. It came across ( from other answers) as though you were still contemplating the fielding.

SO: sensible answers! I think if you want a colour that also ends in the same way, the best option is Jett which is quite a fun as and funky name playing on your theme. Otherwise would you consider Rosette? I know a rosette is more a flower shape than a colour, but “ rose” is a colour in French ( pink) and Rosette is a name. Violet/t/the and Scarlett are both pretty and perfectly lovely names.

Sorry “ still contemplating the spelling” I meant to type.

ColdWaterDipper · 11/04/2025 19:43

Laughing so hard at Regrette! Being serious, the only one I can think of is Jett which is a colour but spelt incorrectly (as is Violett, and I would spell Scarlet with 1 t, but I know some spell it with 2). I like the name Jet, but if you want something more similar to your previous two, then Rosette would fit the bill - I don’t think it’s a real name but it is a colour and sounds like a possible name.

Actually I think Jett can have double t - and I thought of another op: Russett, which definitely can and is a pretty reddish hue ( and rather cute with Scarlett!)

This isn't true, though... the OP asks for colour names ending in -ett or -lett in the first post title. In the post itself she asks for a middle name with the same kind of ending as Scarlett and Violett. She posts again saying preferably a colour. So she really wants the -ett -lett names...

I'm fond of names like Odette and Liselotte, but you can see that's not what she asked for!

Tablett would be a sweet name though fudging the ask.

Well I’m rather attached to the idea of Russett now! I think it’s unusual and lovely and a nice sound and meaning. Makes me think of crunchy autumn rambles!

bellocchild · 11/04/2025 19:57

Cerisette would be dark cherry.

Riversof0tter5 · 11/04/2025 19:58

Whether these names work also depends a lot on whether the child will go to school in SoCal or Saffron Walden...

Apple
Autumn
Bittersweett
Cardinal
Carmine
Cinnabar
Hazel
Hibiscus
Holly
Maurette
Poppy
Rowan
Ruby
Sienna

Jeanette
Lynette
Minette
Nicoletta
Paulette
Seanette

Yes! I almost want to read a classic-style children's story about children named Ocelott, Burgundett, Merlett, Blondel, and Ribena.

KingOfTheNumpties · 11/04/2025 20:27

Lillet

BuntyBeaufort · 11/04/2025 20:32

Although you’d always be telling her to pipe down.

h1nch · 11/04/2025 20:33

Bowies · 11/04/2025 20:35

VeryQuaintIrene · 11/04/2025 20:40

Piglette has a nice ring to it.

SonoPazziQuestiRomani · 11/04/2025 20:46

Every so often I wonder to myself why I waste time on here. And then I find a thread like this! Loving Regrette and Mumsnette 😂

BlueFlowers5 · 11/04/2025 21:13
