French name we'd love as much as Inès?

Hi everyone

I'm due another girl early March and we don't have a single name we both love.

Our DD is Inès (French heritage). We'd like something French that would also work here and is ideally shortish like Inès. We'd like it to complement her name if that's possible. To me, Inès was pretty but not too flowery or twee, a bit modern (but not too much so) and a bit less common compared to more classic names like Sophie and Amelie for example, although these are both beautiful names.

Thank you in advance!

Ines is not a French name, more Spanish/Portuguese

I am aware it's originally Hispanic but plenty of Ineses and Inèses in France too.

Sorry just seen it's a girl. I thought Ines was a boys name.

I know a little French Yvette, which is not considered before but sounds really cool on her.

Or Zoe, which I know isn't French but is fairly common there, I think.

Camille?

Though I think may run into pronunciation issues, the anglicised pronunciation is quite different to the French.

Might not necessarily all have French heritage but when we lived there some of the names in dd's class that I liked were:

-Eugenie
-Amelie
-Elise
-Vivienne
-Sylvia
-Elodie
-Adeline
-Anais
-Margot

I like camille or laure

SallyWD · 25/02/2025 15:20

I came across the name Alette in a book. It's French and Dutch. I think it's beautiful, very fresh and elegant. Not at all flowery or twee. Not overused.
I think Inès and Alette sound lovely together.

Alizé?

Itsaswelltime · 25/02/2025 15:22

Léa and Léna are very popular
Chloé has been solidly popular for the last 20 years
Other quite popular names for young girls and newborns in París at the moment include Aurore, Camille, Clary, Daphné, Héloïse, Hermance, Louison, Maëva, Odile, Solène, Valentine
(Also non French names particularly Anna, Olivia, Rosa)

Just make sure you explain correctly to your little Ines or she will be made to look ridiculous some day and that wouldn’t be fair on her
