Complementing French name for Inès’ sibling

Hi all.

We would like to hear some suggestions of French names any for our DD Inès’ little brother or sister. If it helps, we like classic names and not so much modern ones. We also prefer ones that aren’t too long but open to longer suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

I've always loved the girls' names Camille and Margaux.

Gabriel? Noah? Charlotte?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 29/03/2024 18:15

I think Joséphine or Gaspard would go well with Inès.

Manon and Raphael

Hello mummies and ladies in the house I would love if anyone could please tell me if they can see a faint line or am I wrong 😭. We are hoping the lord blesses us this month, thank you.

@OliveHare , no. You're in a thread about French Baby Names BTW.

@Mila82 , do you want names that sound the same (or very similar) in French and English? Louis & Louise fit that brief.

Inès is lovely.

Mila82 · 29/03/2024 20:28

Wow so many beautiful suggestions already! Thanks all. We had already actually shortlisted Manon, Camille, Raphael for an idea of the kind of names we like so we have similar tastes to some posters. But we also love some here now. I really liked Margaux years ago but my husband thinks it’s too popular worldwide now. I do agree but still lovely. I’m not sure why we have fewer boys’ names shortlisted…

Hi there. I’m not sure as I think the photo quality could be a bit better so it gives the appearance of several streaks almost but I really hope you’re lucky this month. This is a thread about baby names so you will get some more experienced opinions if you post your own post in the pregnancy test section. Good luck again!

Great question! I’m not too fussy about this actually but I think my husband would say “That’ll be butchered here” about some French names as we live in the UK. So he does see the appeal of names like Louis rather than something like Camille which I imagine will be pronounced Kah-mill here. But he does still like Camille.

Ah thank you very much. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea we found when I was pregnant but we liked it and it suits her somehow.

Some Breton names might work. Breton Names - Behind the Name

I appreciate that French and Breton are not the same, and that you/DH might have heritage from another part of France with its own language.

How about Mathilde?

For boys how about Hugo? Maxime?

JustMaggie · 29/03/2024 20:46

I really like the name Collette.
