Thoughts on the name Boden (nick names Bode or Bodie)

And middle names (we like more classical middle names) or ideally a fire and earth name

2 middle names needed!

Nothing will be worse than the poor child I used to know whose parents (Mr and Mrs Clarke) called her Kimberly.

Poor little girl :(

😱

As above, Zara is a longstanding name before the store was established. This reads like your kid was named after a clothing store, whether that is true or not.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm · 15/02/2025 19:48

Say both names together and you’ll start sounding like brian badonde.

Ooooo actually - Badonde?

😂😂😂

TwoFatDucklings · 15/02/2025 19:51

Hmm I'd suggest you need to balance it out

Boden Bee Andem
Boden Aldi Pricematch
Boden Donny Market
Boden Netto Nomore
Boden Greg's Sausageroll

Boden Bee Andem is my favourite

nervouslandlord · 15/02/2025 19:52

Makes a change from Wren or Rowan.

In fact tho I do think this has to be a wind up and we've all fallen for it.

Hesdefinitelygettingthesnip · 15/02/2025 19:52

Please don't do this! Your pregnancy hormones will be running wild. I very nearly called my son a ridiculous name 7 years ago. Once my hormones had calmed down I was so relieved I listened to others and went against it at the last moment.

Otherwise, my suggestions are:

  • catalogue
  • sale
  • discount code
HotTurtleSoup · 15/02/2025 19:53

Boden Frenchpress?

Yes, I like that a lot.
How about Boden Cotton Trader?

Anyone else getting Boden adverts in the feed on this thread 🙈

So is Parker, Harper etc. I’m not a fan of surnames as first names. Reminds me of a Billy Connolly stand-up where he covered that subject.

Surnames that are occupations are particularly weird - Carter, Archer, Fletcher, Hawker, Sawyer etc. Why not call your baby Doctor, Ironmonger, Cordwainer or Stevedore? 😃

FriendsDrinkBook · 15/02/2025 17:44

Please don't name your child Boden.

Or Bodhi. Thats even worse.

Zanzara · 15/02/2025 19:58

armt · 15/02/2025 17:40

Hi! Yes I'm aware of the shop name. Thanks for your input :) I find that quite rude.

You did ask, and I have to admit that was my first thought. It's better surely to tell you than for the child to have a lifetime of it?

NewHeaven · 15/02/2025 19:59

Do you hate your child so much that you want to punish it with a fucking awful name like Boden? If you like the name then call yourself Boden and see how people react towards you. Poor kid.

Mirabai · 15/02/2025 19:59

This is just a joke.

sassyduck · 15/02/2025 20:00

Boden popup sale

Channellingsophistication · 15/02/2025 20:01

Boden is just not a suitable christian name …

IAmDefyingGravelly · 15/02/2025 20:01

Boden Mat Alan.

No, sodding Brora ads, the £96 cashmere wrist warmers have been tempting me for the last week! 😖

Have you considered Brora, OP?

EdithBond · 15/02/2025 20:03

I didn’t even know Boden was a name and I’ve had jobs where I’ve come across lots of name. I only know of the shop. I suspect most people will be the same and whenever you or he (when older) give his name, the response you’ll get is: “like the shop”. Also, an obvious shortening is Body (pronounced like Noddy, if spelt as Bodie). I’d steer clear. There’s nothing more draining than having to constantly having to spell, repeat or correct your name to people.

I’ve never heard of Bohdi either. Unless you’re of a South Asian background or Buddhist, choosing this name seems like cultural appropriation to me.

Would it not be better to name him after someone (or somewhere) who means a lot to you and you also like the name? A name that’s been in the family or a person who’s inspired you?

Joules Seasalt?

Yes,

Boden Joules Seasalt
Boden Mint Velvet
Boden Rixo Cefinn

Branleuse · 15/02/2025 20:03

I know someone called Bohdan. Its a slavic name. I quite like it. Everyone calls him Bodge.

A quick google shows that Boden is Scandinavian.
I think it works quite well as a first name.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 15/02/2025 20:03

How about IHateMyParentsBecauseTheyGaveMeThisAwfulName? A bit of a mouthful admittedly.

midlifeattheoasis · 15/02/2025 20:03

Boden is awful, but if you do insist on calling the poor child Boden, what about Kevin or Gary?

itsgettingweird · 15/02/2025 20:04

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/02/2025 18:09

Boden Aldi
Boden Matalan
Boden Mountain Warehouse
Boden Lidl
Boden Fatface
