Thoughts on the name Boden (nick names Bode or Bodie)

And middle names (we like more classical middle names) or ideally a fire and earth name

2 middle names needed!

Hi! Yes I'm aware of the shop name. Thanks for your input :) I find that quite rude.

Better get used to “finding that quite rude” because people will mention the shop to you on a regular basis.

Not the same as Zara which was an established name, before the Spanish clothing brand was even founded.

OldieButBaddie · 15/02/2025 17:51

I'm sorry but Boden Tate just sounds like an incel in a jaunty dress

BoldHedgehog · 15/02/2025 17:51

It's heavily associated with the extreme right in Germany. 'Blood and soil' nationalism is called Blut und Boden, a Nazi slogan.

SundaySighing · 15/02/2025 17:52

Isn't Beauden the spelling when it's a first name? Differentiates it from the shop at least and pronounced the same.

worcesterpear · 15/02/2025 17:53

I agree it is more likely to be Bodhi (if a boy). I think it's a Scottish name so things like Hamish, Callum, Fraser, Hector etc.

Boden Breton Stripe would go well together.

We have a favourite!!!

MotherOfCatBoy · 15/02/2025 17:55

Wasn’t Bodhi the Patrick Swayze character in Point Break? Cool surfer name.
Boden, no.

AllThePotatoesAreSinging · 15/02/2025 17:56

Sorry but that’s an awful name. Why are you naming your child after a cup? Are you hoping he gets bullied? Because he will.

This reminds me of the time when I was 8 months pregnant and I fell out with my husband because he wouldn’t agree to name our daughter Thor. Pregnancy hormones, eh?

and before anyone pulls me up on being mean … we are all thinking it!

so Boden NO MUM

MonetWaterlilies · 15/02/2025 17:58

This is hilarious, well done OP 🤣

I was going to say I know a Beauden which doesn't give shop vibes at least.

RoundLid · 15/02/2025 18:02

Very clever way to save time on sewing name tags into his clothes, OP. I like it.

EcruCardigan · 15/02/2025 18:02

But Zara?

UK usage of Zara dropped when the shop became mainstream here.

Fundays12 · 15/02/2025 18:05

I think it the clothes shop. Sorry but that's the only thing that springs to mind.

doodahdayy · 15/02/2025 18:06

But it's a surname?

SwerveCity · 15/02/2025 18:07

Please don’t

snowflakelake · 15/02/2025 18:08

I don't care if it's nonsense it still made me smile this morning.

BunnyLake · 15/02/2025 18:09

Boy or girl or are you looking neutral names? I think classic middle names are a good idea as they will appreciate having the options.

DPotter · 15/02/2025 18:09

Hi! Yes I'm aware of the shop name. Thanks for your input :) I find that quite rude.

Thing is here -someone said it out loud. IRL - people will be thinking it and thinking "poor kid - why did the parents call them after a clothing company".

Better we say it out loud now, so at least you're aware of just how many people think it's not a good choice

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/02/2025 18:09

Boden Aldi
Boden Matalan
Boden Mountain Warehouse
Boden Lidl
Boden Fatface

TastyTakoyaki · 15/02/2025 18:10

Surprised this name wasn’t universally loved

BunnyLake · 15/02/2025 18:10

doodahdayy · 15/02/2025 18:06

But it's a surname?

So is Parker, Harper etc. I’m not a fan of surnames as first names. Reminds me of a Billy Connolly stand-up where he covered that subject.

RitaFromTheRanch · 15/02/2025 18:10

No you really cant subject a baby to that if you live in the UK
