Love Emmeline but really dislike the others sorry.

LouCritt · 22/10/2024 06:15

Thank you! No need to apologise, I would rather hear the truth than people say they all sound lovely and I end up regretting the chosen name once she/he is born. X

I love Emmaline, it's beautiful. The rest I don't really like personally, especially Neveah.

The boys name is nice but I'm like you, really struggling with boys names! We've been looking at lists of Greek and Roman gods and also cosmic name lists and are coming up with some slowly. But it's hard work. Girls names are so cute and pretty it's easy to imagine a baby with the name but with boys names it's so hard because you've got this tiny adorable little baby with a man's name!!! It's just so odd. I guess you have to remember that they spend a tiny part of their lives as babies so try to pick a name that you'd like on a teenage boy or a man, rather than a baby. That's what we're doing!

LivingOnTheVeg · 22/10/2024 06:25

Safia I like but I think Safiya is the standard spelling? Don’t like any of the others I’m afraid. With Neveah, did you mean Nevaeh, as in heaven backwards? If so it’s a name that started as a joke on the internet and so gets the piss taken out of frequently. I’d avoid either spelling for that reason even if you like it (but I don’t at all, sorry).

LouCritt · 22/10/2024 06:34

Yes it’s Safiya, just had a look on the Internet.
Nevaeh is now removed from the list, thank you. X

I have removed Nevaeh now, seems to be a very unpopular name.
Have you come up with any good names for a boy so far? ☺️ I totally agree with you, it’s hard to find cute names that also sound laddy for when he’s in secondary school as well. Boys names are either too manly like you said, or too cute to where they would get picked on as a teen. With girls, a cute name will sound nice for them throughout their life and will be accepted. It’s different for a boy.

Thankyou for the advise, will have to have a look on Google at the Greek and Roman Gods list and see if I come across any I like! X

All dreadful, particularly Nevaeh and Islie.

LouCritt · 22/10/2024 06:40

Nevaeh is off the list now, thank you for your feedback. X

I like Hendrix for a boy rather than hendrick. I like emmeline. Saffiya is nice but only if you are from a culture that uses that name, not if you're white British. Isla is pretty overused and boring, islie is too made up.

HelloCheekyCat · 22/10/2024 06:43

Islie

How do you pronounce this? Not sure if it's just me being clueless but I'd think you had some.weird spelling of Isla

pavementgerms · 22/10/2024 06:45

Emmeline is nice. Safiya is also ok.

Babbadoobabbadock · 22/10/2024 06:45

Hendricks is gin

Emmiline is gorgeous.

Safiya is OK.
Islie I don't know what it says. I-Lee?

I don't hate Hendrick. Never heard it before but could work depending on your surname. Can be shortened to Rick.

Thanks, changed to Hendrix as I do think that sounds better. X

Hendrix is cool.
I like Safiya too.

modgepodge · 22/10/2024 06:56

Islie sounds quite cute but looks odd to me, I did guess the right pronunciation but written down in most fonts it looks a lot like leslie! Emmeline is my favourite from your list as I love the nickname Emmy.

PolaroidPrincess · 22/10/2024 06:58

From experience if you're really struggling with a boys name then you're probably having a boy! GrinFlowers

Oh wow, that’s interesting to know. I was hoping for a baby girl, my partner wants a boy though so he will be happy! X

If you like names like Hendrix then I imagine cowboy style names would work for you.
So,
Nate
Beau
Silas
Ned
Wyatt
Harris
Zach
Hudson
Otis
Hank ( Henry on birth certificate)
Tate

Georgie743 · 22/10/2024 07:26

Emmeline - pretty
Nevaeh - chavviest name in existence, awful
hendrick - like the gin? Love Hendrix though
islie - looks like a homemade mash up of Isla and Elsie

I went to school with a couple of Muslim girls called Saffiyah. Would assume you are a Muslim family with this name, if that matters.

MoralOrLegal · 22/10/2024 07:32

Hendrick and Hendrix have very different feels to me. Hendri(c)k is a Dutch version of Henry and I would assume cultural links to the Netherlands. Hendrix I would assume a musical reference.

MoralOrLegal · 22/10/2024 07:34

Also agree that Saffiyah (in any spelling) would suggest a Muslim background to me.

ladygindiva · 22/10/2024 07:35

I like them all except nevaeh
